Sometimes I love texts. "What are you doing next week?" is a good one. Lets you check your diary and get back to me. I rarely have my phone glued to me so replies can take a couple of days for me. They are useful for passing information - eg "I'm going to be in York on the 19th of August: train museum then shopping. Want to come?" That's a great text. Date and place and enough time to call/text back to say that you want to come. Or just turn up on the day, if I text an invite I don't care if you don't reply.
Texts are also great for mothers: you can deal with them when you have time, not when the phone rings. When DH is out of range I can text him and he'll get it quickly. I'm more likely to pick up a text message than a mobile phone answerphone message so appreciate texts for that.
I don't reply to a "happy birthday" but usually do to a "merry Christmas".
I hate text conversations: just call. It's easier.

I agree Ryn, calling is easier... is it just me but texting takes aaaaages. I am always overshooting the mark when selecting a character... I'm usually a patient person but texting using my old Nokia is soo time consuming. Are newer phones easier to text? ie I guess it would be ok if you had a qwerty keyboard.

I don't think its particularly slack to not respond straight away either.... I work and leave my phone in the back office. I can check it once a day, so I won't be able to respond. Sometimes I miss texts all together.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't assume someone is being slack or rude because they don't respond. Especially to a text, if it truely is that important, ring. I hear my phone ring, and make sure I check to see who phoned and try to get back with them, I miss texts....

I am a textaholic! LIterally have the phone with my 24/7!
I am the one that sends the one word replies, send jokes, hae full conversations and arguements in texts. I hate using the phone to call... It annoys me because i have to stop what i am doing to chat. If im texting i can still walk, shop, shower and don't miss a thing :)
I reply to every text unless i am trying to ignore the person, LOL.

i love SMS. it is my main communication tool lol.
i am so lucky i have a cap cause i only ever text.

I always respond if someone sends me a txt, be it bday, chrissy or just any txt in general. I have friends that worry if i dont respond for any reason lol (usually its because im out of service or dont have my phone).
Although if i can suss out i will be texting with someone for a while i'll just call them instead ... lol.

One thing that gets my goat is the happy new year texts that come through 3 seconds after midnight.
I'm either dancing on tables or snuggled in bed - don't presume I'm sitting on my phone OR that I have nothing better to do than respond!
