That's pretty steep considering what the fee is booking direct with the gaol....
Can I ask what's so special about this company your friend is going through?
I'd be backing out given all your other expenses. You and your dh can book direct and still go to the gaol with just the 2 of you (or more depends on the spirits of the evening ;))!
I'd just explain that its not in the budget right now, and offer to take her out to lunch or something once you have a bit more dough.
Really, she didn't give you much notice considering how long she'd been planning it for, and who knows, there might be a few others in the same boat and she may end up having to move it anyway.
Well I spoke to her today convo went something like this
"Hey xxxxx have you booked the tour for the goal yet with the tour company?" and she replied with "Nah not yet"
"Did you know that you can do a 2.5hr tour with the Goal direct for $28?" she replied with "Oh no I didn't know that"
So I said "Maybe ring the goal later today and find out some more about it"
I got a phone call 2 hrs later. "Hey I rang the goal and you were right with the cost. It goes for 2.5hrs and we have to be there at 8pm instead of 9pm" I said "ah okay, so what you going to go with then?" and she said "I have already booked it direct with the goal. Thanks for that, I didn't know you could do that"
So problem solvered :)
Oh fwiw when she did mention about it being a girls night only 2 weeks ago, I asked her if she was okay with Andrew going as I had already mentioned it to him previously and he was really keen on going, and she said that it was fine. We are going to drive ourselves in though instead of getting on a hire bus with the girls.
Yay! Happiness all around :)
And Andrew can get more sleep for his rally, which is a bonus.

LMAO yeah, we've done a day self guided tour there before. Only thing that really freaked me out in the day time was the hanging tower. Wanted to be out of there asap, so we'll see how I go with that at night hahaha.:
The tower FREAKED me out too, I walked in and walked straight back out! (was at night too, only torchlight) a friend that was with us was recording on her mobile phone (the video recorder she bought wouldnt work) and when she was in there, some of the stuff that can be heard...!!! (can't see a thing though)
Have you youtubed the vids that the paranormal investigators have put up? pretty interesting..
