Lisa, all sounds great to me...which day of the cycle you are in atm? Hope those follies will keep growing....

AFM, I am hanging on till the 9th to start Provera and 13th to start Lucrin, but will try to order it this week from Birken Heads.

Sara, hope you will have a lovely trip and a bit distraction at this nervous time...

    Hugs to all x

Lisa - that follie count is incredible What a fantastic effort. Hopefully this will be the only cycle you have to endure. Please let us know how it all goes.

Cuddlepie - thanks for the info on AF. I have been worried because I have had an estrogen issue since my first MC (spotting around day 9). We think it is affecting my egg quality and the plan is that IVF will overcome that. If AF stays away I will know my estrogen levels are rising IYKWIM

Sara - I was very worried about doing the injections. Before my first PG I was needle-phobic. But I coped because of the big picture. Still, I never thought I could do them to myself. The IVF nurses recommended I put it in quickly - I couldn't. But despite the fact I do them in slo mo they do not seem to hurt. I did do my first Lucrin at the clinic. I was so nervous, but it ended up being ok

Lisa, well done - that's really amazing - I was told the average number of follies I could expect woudl only be six, 17 is really great, hopefully you have a nice sticky one to transfer and a good numebr to freeze. All the best for EPU later this week. Keep us up to date.

Cudddlepie - thanks for your good wishes, will fly out on Saturday - also won't be online tomorrow as I am going to Randwick - really looking forward to a break.

WTH - thanks for your advice on the injections, yes will try to concentrate on the big picture.

red lady - have a wonderful time at the races, back a winner

Cuddlepie - I am on day 34, pill for 21 days, using Synarel now for 19 days, injecting now for 9 days. Blood test results didn't come through today , busy day in the lab so I was told.

Thanks everyone for your support and well wishes, if all goes to plan first try then my due date will be July 31st, 1 week earlier than Brendan was due.

Hi red lady here, just to let you know that I've changed my name and wish everyone good luck as I'll probably be offline until the end of next week. Will try to check in but not sure if we have access where we're staying.

Lisa: Good luck for EPU tomorrow, hope your blood test came through and gave you a good result.

WTH: Hope everything is going fine for you and good luck for EPU next week.

Cuddlepie: Cycle buddy very exited that we'll be doing this together.

AFM went to the clinic yesterday to learn how to do the injections I tried one (without anything in it) it was a bit nerve racking to put it in my belly but you're all right it was not half as bad as I had thought. I am still very nervous about everything and thought of quite convinced it won't work but will hopefully get more positive once I really start. have made an appointment with the counsellor for when I am back as it might be good to discuss things.

Also went for my first acupuncture yesterday BW if you're reading this thanks so much for the tip with Rozelle Acupuncture, they are absolutely lovely. I saw Bernice who is new there and she is great, did me the world of good. It was quite amazing I don't actually believe in acupuncture but was able to feel warmth coming from the points where she put the needles in. Also had a bad sinus headache and asked her if she could do something about that, after the acupuncture it was gone!

Sara, I'm so glad you found the acupuncture helpful! My first experience with it was with chronic sinus infections... I was a complete sceptic as well and didn't think it would do anything at all, but I let my GP have a go... and walked away feeling fine. After that, every time I got a sinus infection, we'd do acupuncture and start the antibiotics and I'd get away with one course rather than needing two. I don't yet know if there's any scientific explanation for it, but I do know that it does something! I've been lying there with needles in and suddenly become extremely aware of a very strong pulse in my lower abdomen, and the feeling of warmth like you mentioned... one day I walked in with a massive headache and a really nasty stomach bug - needles in the appropriate places, headache vanished almost instantaneously and while lying there my stomach settled and I was fine... I can go on and on, it seriously is amazing and I'm so glad you found it as helpful as I did!

The needles are scary at first, but you do get used to them. I remember taking about 5 minutes of pointing the syringe at my bare belly before I got the courage to actually stick it in (try to use a method similar to the way they insert the acupuncture needles!), but by the third cycle, I was doing it with barely even blinking... Hopefully you won't need that many cycles, though!

I remember that moment you mentioned as well BW, pointing the syringe to the belly for ages and ages, half way through and chicken out, so funny! I once ended up doing really slow and pressed the skin down and can see the needle gradually going in, terrible. Later on, I learned the faster you put it in, the less painful it is. Another thing Sara, once you get the needle in, push slowly and steadily. 2 sleeps till you fly out, exciting! Have a wonderful trip and come back let's jab together!

Hi there. Time for a "me" update.

I had my first scan yesterday. An early one after just 5 days of stims (they monitor you a bit more and sooner on this shorter type of cycle) It is not a big haul - just 8 follies but at least they were all close in size at 5-10mm. Lining already 6.7mm. I was pretty sad about the follicle number as I had 11 last month. But I was told there may be more on Monday (they probably will be too small to catch up) and only three were in contention for EPU last cycle. This time I will hopefully be looking at 7 or even 8. Just keep telling myself it is quality, not quantity... I was wondering why some clinics go ahead with 3 follies at EPU and it was explained to me they like a few to biopsy with PGD to make it worthwhile. Meanwhile my E2 has gone from 642 yesterday morning to 1282 this morning . So it does look like things are moving along much more normally this cycle.

I have found this cycle, though shorter, a lot tougher. Not because of the regime but because of my headstate. I really have had high expectations with the higher dose of Puregon (375 units). I believe the Lucrin may also have supressed me too much last cycle. So why 8 follies? The clinic nurse explained we are pre-programmed with our follies for each cycle so it was not the regime.

I start the Orgalutron (to prevent the LH surge) tonight and have my next scan Monday. Grow little eggies, grow!

Sara and Cuddlepie - good luck with your jabbing. I really hope your cycles are easy and unstressful

Lisa - hope you EPU went swimmingly well and you are not too sore after pickup

    Have a great weekend everyone!

WTH, it is definitely quality not quantity in this game hun...sounds like everything is under control there and E2 number looks great. Sometime EPU also pick up more than you can see on the scan, I did in my 1st cycle. Hope you will enjoy the weekend and Monday scan will bring you some good news.

Lisa, how are you feeling after EPU? Hope everything went smoothly and you've got lots of goodies I mean eggies.

AFM, haven't start jabbing yet. B/t tomorrow morning then start Provera on Sunday for 7 days, will start Lucrin next Thursday. Fun begins.

    Meredith, how you are well!

WTH, watch the orgalutran injections. They used them for me to attempt to reduce hyperstimulation in my second cycle. The needles tend to be blunt, and they are hard to get in...

    Hi all,

EPU yesterday, went ok still pretty sore and bloated. Got 18, only 14 were mature and overnight only 8 fertilised. Really upset about the number, by the time we wait to see how many continue to split and then have them gender tested we might not even get a girl. Brendans DNA is being sent any time soon for testing so we can only hope that they find it was a really unfortunate accident and we can go back to trying naturally. The results should be through within 12 weeks, not too long I guess.

Any suggestions on how to stay positive, I feel completely gutted.

Thanks, Cuddlepie. I will continue to whisper that mantra to myself, "quality not quantity... quality not quantity".

BW - you are so right. That needle is damn blunt. Seemed a lot like the HCG trigger so I was a little prepared. It is interesting they used it to prevent hyperstimulation for you - hope it does not slow down my E2 levels... BTW how many weeks are you now?

LisaK - 8 fertilised is GREAT . A friend of mine had 12 at EPU and 7 fertilised. All 7 made it to blast so she got 6 lovely frosties. Hope your little growing embryos divide beautifully

Lisa - I had 12 eggs, 5 fertilized, 3 made it to test day, 2 survived my gene test and didn't have nasty-bone-disease and were put back, and 1 is now 8 months old and asleep upstairs.
But the week where my "good" number of eggs was going down fast was very daunting - remember that it only needs one emby, and that having it once you now know you can do it again if you have to.

    big hugs

    HI ladies,
Only back from our Airlie Beach holiday a couple of days ago so haven't had much chance to catch up.

WTH - I can understand some disappointment but remember,Its very early days yet and you may still get more eggies. Even if not, 8 is not a "bad" number. I have been told they actually don't like more than 12 because the quality seems to drop with the highre numbers. Unfortunately, our bodies will just do want they want to and sometimes, no matter what dose of FSH, you just can't produce any more eggs. I have a very good friend who did IVF (unsuccessfully) for 8 years. Never got more than 3-4 eggs in any one cycle despite doses up to 600 units. Naturally, however, she can ovulate just fine and has somehow since concieved and birthed 2 healthy children without any help. Go figure!!! Praying tommorrow's scan brings good news

Sara and CP - looks like we will all be cycling very close together so lets make it a hat-trick of success!

Lisa - hoping those 8 embies are all you need - just one little girl needs to make it through!

Me - my holiday was nice. Very warm and enjoyed the time away from home. Still couldn't escape the whole recovery from the twin's m/c as I had to have more blood tests whilst away - was a real pain!
The good news is that FINALLY , after 3 months, my HCG is down to 3 , I am on the pill just briefly to stop me cycling naturally and hoping to start my short IVF/PGD cycle next week. I will be doing antagonist cycle like WTH. I am excited at the prospect of trying again but very anxious about getting enough eggs and normal embies to achieve a successful pg. So many things that can go wrong! I am sure all of understand!

Welcome back Meredith, glad you had a good break and HCG level is now coming down, how exciting we are going to cycling together...

WTH, good luck with your scan today, I hope you see lots lots big fat follicles

Sara must be having fun now in Great Ocean road, lucky her!

AFM, had a 2nd b/t today following Sat's so I can start Provera, apperantly my Sat result wasn't there yet (prog is not high enough) to start so I hope today I am on track. I did feel this cycle that I Oed later than usual. Glad my new FS is on the ball to monitor my cycle closely. DH also did his 2nd SCSA test last Friday, so we will hear the result either late this week or find out at FS appointment next Thursday, I don't know if i can wait that long.

Hope everyone is having a good monday! I feel rather tired after an active weekend!

    Morning,

Got a phone call from Monash this morning and we now only have 3 that can be biopsied. Feeling like crap and can't believe we have gone from 18 to 3. Now knowing my luck they will all be boys. This really sucks.

:hugs: Lisa, sorry to hear that you are not feeling confident at the moment, this journey doesn't neccessary make you grow in that aspect isn't it and I completely understand where you are coming from...but at least there are 3 beautiful embies now going to the next phase, when are you hearing the biopsy result? Hang in there hun and big hugs.

8 to 3 biopsied sounds pretty typical to me - do nice things today if you can. This is one day when you have absolutely no control over any aspect of things, and you just have to trust the lab to do their best and hope that the embys make it through and that chance is on your side.
Also - any that make it this far are tough little critters.

And this was the point where I was on the phone to the PGD coordinator bawling - remember that there is someone at the clinic who is used to dealing with all this and also used to helping with the massive range of emotions it brings up. Use them too if you think it will help.
