Let the fun & games begin! Day 1 of synarel. Still on the pill until Tues & FSH doesn't start for another 2 weeks but its a start at least.
Good luck Penny! Sounds like they are being quite cautious. Sorry on the phone so can't check back & memory like a sieve, have you hyper-stim'd before or is this your first cycle?
-
JoeSpratt yay for starting!! Exciting (and nerve wrecking) times ahead!
My FS put me on a low dose because of my polycystic ovaries so she must of thought higher doses could lead to ohss. And yep this is my first ivf cycle!
-
Yes better to be cautious then & everyone reacts differently. Last cycle I was on 250 gonal f & this one was going to be 300 but I seem to have reacted well to taking dhea so they are bringing it back down to 275. I have pcos as well but don't seem to stimulate very well...have only managed 9 eggies each cycle. I know some people would love that many but when you add my age & pgd into the mix I would love a heap more!
-
Yay for starting synarel Joe, it's a start! I hope you get lots of eggs for higher chances! Are you testing on day 3?
Penny my first cycle I started on 75iu (pco as well) & stimmed for quite a while I thought we've never get there but my cycle gave me DD (our one & only blastocyst). I also hyper stimmed on that cycle - 10 eggs but loads of follicles.
My last 4 cycles I've been on 250-350 as I didn't stim as well as I did in 2010. Honestly, the orgulutran needle doesn't hurt & there isn't much to it. You will be okay :-) its the clexane that's nasty but you get used to it.
Stopped pill on Friday & waiting. I've actually been light bleeding since Hysterscopy on Wed so I guess I'll wait for it to get heavier.
-
I've officially started my FET. Mixed emotions after so many failures but new hope with the new meds ill be on. Intrapilids infusion tomorrow, will be interesting.
Penny how are your follicles going? Have you had another scan? As I said before I stimmed for ages in my first cycle & didn't think I'd ever get there.
Joe - hope you're coping with the nasty synarel. Countdown is on. It's our turn girls!
-
Glad to see you are being so positive Elarwood after all you've been through. Good luck with this cycle...it is our time to shine :)
Penny how are you doing? Any word on how you are responding? Grow lil follies, grow!
AFM just waiting for AF to arrive. should be any day now with injections to start next week. Feeling a bit anxious but very happy to be back in the game :)
-
Hi ladies!!
Elarwood yay! So excited for you! How did you go today with the itralipids? How often do you have to do those?
JoeSpratt how bloody annoying is it waiting for af!! I hope she shines her lovely face for you ASAP!
AFM, so first scan this morning! If I can remember correctly I have 5 or 6 follis in the right and 8 or 9 in the left. I believe they are all measuring from 8 to 10mm. I kind of had a heart attack thinking they were really small but the nurse said it was fine for where I'm at (will be stim day 9 tonight). So I think they say follis grow 2mm every day so with 5 more days to go till epu that's 10mm to go which sounds good, right? Oh this is all so nerve wrecking hey! Another scan on Friday and bt Friday xx
-
Still waiting!!! Better be here by morning so I can get my bloods done tomorrow & pick up all the meds for next week
-
Ladies just a quick update from me - looks like cycle may be cancelled. Estrogen levels have dropped and follis not growing. They have upped my gonal f to 150 for the next 2 nights then another scan and bt Monday. Had a complete breakdown yesterday, you know, when is this **** world going to give me a break, but have just accepted defeat today so if things improve great but if they don't I'm prepared.
JoeSpratt I'm praying af shows her face for you today!!
-
Penny I know it might not seem like it righy now but best to get the cycle right to go in with a good batch of eggs. Doesn't help that your body is pumped full of hormones so you are even more emotionally charged. Our bodies are weird & wonderful things. See how you go for Monday xxx
AF has finally showed!
-
Joe - congrats on AF arriving & starting stims next week. How many eggs do you normally get?
Penny - I'm sorry to hear how your cycle is progressing. The process is such unfair one full of ups & downs. A cancelled cycle is very disappointing, I've been there & it sucks. As Joe said though, there isn't much point going ahead & paying for a cycle & PGD without a good number of eggs. I really hope the increased dosage kick starts the ovaries into gear.
Day 5 of FET I much prefer fet's! Start clexane on Monday & scan next sat on day 12 to check lining. The intralipids went well, the infusion took 5 hrs - hopefully it does what it's meant to.
I need some advice those please. I'm not sure of your clinics grade your embryos, but we have 5 PGD tested embryos in freezer & it's up to us as to what we put back. We are transferring 2, well aware of the risks of twins but given its our 7th cycle we are going for it. We have 2x 6BB's, 1 6CC & 2 morulas. Which ones would you put back? My first thought is the 2 best ones, but we are scared of them both implanting. But I'll be kicking myself if this cycle fails cos we put back the lesser quality. I know the grading doesn't indicate pregnancy outcomes & it is really like winning the lottery as to what embryo will work but we have to give it our best shot right? What would you do? FS says its up to us, & suggested growing out the 2 morulas but I'm not sure.
Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it.
-
Elarwood if it me I would transfer the 2 best ones & grow out the morulas to see how they fair. You said that you weren't worried by the possibility of twins!!! Tough decision...good luck!!!
For both of my stim cycles I got 9 eggs. From the first, 6 were good enough for testing & I only got 2 that came back normal. First one from a fresh transfer resulted in my DD & the other was a FET which resulted in a m/c @ 9 weeks. From my 2nd stim only 5 made it to testing but only 1 came back normal which was a chem preg from a fresh transfer. Have no idea what the grades were of the first two but I think the third transfer was a 2A. Hoping for much better stats this cycle!
-
Thanks Joe for your advice. I'm thinking to just go with 2 best - we've thrown everything at this cycle so may as well go for it! Do you know if they can refreeze the morulas? I'm worried about using them first as they were slow growing.
Are you on the same dosage this cycle? I recall you saying you were on DHEA for past few months. Hoping it all helps! Did they give you a reason why your FET embryo ended in miscarriage & then chemical with last one? Is it a quality issue or perhaps an immune issue? That's the hard thing with IVF - the dr's are really just taking educated guesses! Our last embryo (our ectopic) was 6bb as well it did implant just in wrong place. I've had plenty of high quality embryos not make it but we now think its been the endo & immune issues rather than embryo quality.
-
Not sure about refreezing the morulas. Were they day5 when frozen?
My last stim I did get a morula as well but it was slow growing so they grew it for another day (day6) but then they could tell that it had damage & they knew it wouldn't be viable. My m/c from the fet was because of a blighted ovum (empty egg sac) & the chem preg they have put down to egg quality. So yes hoping that being on the dhea for almost 5 months now will have had a good effect :)
-
Yeh our morulas are day 5. I think I'll go with the two best ones.
That really sucks having a blighted ovum & chemical on tested embryos. I've heard good things about the DHEA. We also tried melatonin, metformin & inofolic for PCOS. Not sure if its made a difference but anything is worth a shot.
Penny, good luck tomorrow with your scan. I hope the follicles are growing
& your cycle isn't cancelled.
-
How did you go today Penny?
-
Hi ladies, scan this morning showed some folli growth so that was good. The clinic nurse just called and Estrogen has increased to 1684 from 800 last Friday and I'm continuing on 150 gonal f with another scan and bt Weds. Soo hopefully things keep improving :)
-
Wonderful news Penny. I'm glad your follies are growing & they'll let you continue so far. the first cycle is usually a test to see how you respond, our bodies all do different things which is frustrating.
-
That's great news Penny! Here's hoping for another great scan on Wednesday xx
-
Hi lovely ladies, just an update.....follis have grown and estrogen has risen to 3100 which is great but they told me to only expect about 6 mature eggs :( which I think is so low for my age and having pco?? But still on stims.....day 16 today!!!! Another scan and bt Friday....going to have no blood by the end of this hehe. Nurse said she's 90% sure epu will be this coming Monday.
How are you both doing?
-
6 mature eggs is a little low for your age, however my first cycle at 27 which gave me DD I got 10 eggs & 6 were mature, 5 fertilized & 1 lonely embryo made it to blastocyst. She was a fighter. You never know which egg/embryo will be the lucky one. I have everything crossed for you for nice healthy eggs. What day are you testing on? Day 3 or 5?
I'm on day 10, scan day 12 to check lining. Much easier & less stressful cycle although on loads of tablets & clexane. Trying to remain positive!
Joe- have you started injections yet?
-
Penny hoping they get their numbers wrong & you get a few more eggies to play with.
Elarwood what day are you transferring. Hoping your lining is building up nicely.
Currently cycle D6 and third day of fsh. Already starting to feel rather full in the belly. Have been waking up the last 2 nights feeling rather nauseous. Hoping that is just the higher dose of fsh I am on. Oh the joys of ivf!!!
-
Hello!!
Hello ladies!
Just popping in to say hi! I'm happy to see most of you are underway with your cycles- I wish you all the very best and really hope that this cycle is successful for you... Xx
AFM- I am 15 weeks now and doing well after having a bit of a scare at my 12 week scan where they gave me a 1/80 risk of DS which is very high for my age (27)!! We opted for a newly available blood test to test for the trisomies and some sex related chromosomal abnormalities and thankfully it came back negative. My scan was normal, as was my HCG but a protein called Papp-a was extremely low which gave me the higher risk. The low papp-a is an indicator of placental function which I will therefore need to be followed more closely.
So the worrying never stops!! Hoping everything goes smoothly from here on :-)
Xxx
-
Great to hear from you Munchkin! Sounds like you've been going through a lot. Glad that everything has turned out well in the end. Even from conception the worrying begins!!!
-
Elarwood we are doing day 3 testing but I don't know if we will end up going ahead with PGD if we only have 6 embryos.....I just don't know if it's worth the extra $3K? We are doing PGD due to recurrent miscarriages but who's to say my newly diagnosed high nk cells weren't to blame instead of chromosome issues. We are very very undecided at the moment :( So happy to hear you're going well and keeping positive!
Joespratt I hope they do aswell. Last call I had the nurse said 6 but maybe a couple more. I don't know if they just say minimal amounts to be cautious in case you don't end up getting many. I know that at my clinic I've read that they write on a piece of tape on your hand how many eggs you got for when you wake up...god I think I'm going to leave the first look to DP because I will be crapping myself. When's your first scan sweets? Sounds like your ovaries are working away.
Munchkin congrats on getting to 15 weeks! You must be so so excited. I hope everything goes well for you hun.
Afm, EPU is booked in for Monday! Finally! Taking trigger tonight and will be there bright and early at 6.45am Monday. I'm excited but so relieved it's going to be over soon. My body (and mind) has really taken a battering and I'm exhausted. If there's a next time I will be pushing not to stim for 18 days and making them up my dose or try a different protocol.
-
Lovely to hear from you Munchkin! The worrying never stops, even as a mummy! All worth it though. Hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing.
Joe - I recall feeling very nauseous on my last stim cycle, it's horrible. I hope your ovaries are working hard.
Penny - how'd your scan go? All the best for EPU on Monday.
AFM scan went well, my lining is good to go so start progesterone tomorrow evening & transfer on Friday.
-
Penny you must have snuck in your post as I was writing mine. That's such a tough decision regarding the testing. I guess it depends how many eggs you end up with that are mature & fertilize. It's hard also to know whether the killer cells have been the cause, I've read so many things about nk cells as FS is treating me as if I have them (haven't been diagnosed).
All the very best on Monday - egg pick up will be fine. They will give you some pain relief in the anaesthetic & heat pack does wonders. Lots of water, protein & sustagen etc also helps.
-
Ladies we managed to get 13 eggs today :) so very happy!! Now the wait on the fertilisation call today eeeeek.
-
Penny you must be very happy with those numbers...I know I would be! :) here's hoping you get a great fert rate too!!!
-
Wow, congratulations on the 13 eggs Penny! Wonderful news. All the best for fertilization & day 3 numbers for biopsy. Rest up!
How are you going Joe?
I've started progesterone & feeling all the lovely symptoms. The joys!
-
Penny as I said before 13 eggies is a great haul! Will they call tomorrow to let you know how many have fertilised?
Elarwood, oh the joys of progesterone! All the best for Friday. Hoping this is the one for you lovie xxx
Feeling particularly anxious about this cycle. I have my first scan on Wed morning. I just hope that my body is doing the right thing. After my last 2 crappy cycles feeling very down about this one. I know I have to try to keep positive but knowing that this is probably my last chance of having another bubba, it is very overwhelming. Not really having anyone to talk to about this doesn't really help either. Only a couple of my friends know & I think that they don't really know how to broach the subject either. Just hoping for a major miracle is all!!!!!

Thank you ladies. I got a call this morning saying that out of the 13, 11 were mature and injected....10 fertilised fine and going strong! I'm so excited :D They are still checking on the 11th one but it wasn't looking so great. So now to wait till Thursday for a call to let me know how many are left for testing. FS said that if under 4 are left she recommends not doing the testing and then just a trf on day 5 but of more than 4 she still recommends doing it.
Joespratt good luck tomorrow sweets! I'm praying your follis are growing away and doing well. I have told a lot of people about us doing this so I really feel for you having not many people to talk to :( I've told both my sisters, my mum, DPs parents and sister, 3 of my close gfs and my boss and assisted manager at work (very close knit workplace) haha so I have loads of people to talk to. Please feel free to unleash on here! I'm sure no one minds at all and we are all here to support one another.
Elarwood I started my progesterone today aswell! Ohh it's grossss. Are you doing the pessaries? TMI WARNING - I laid down for 30mins and then as soon as I got up they started dripping out eeeek sorry if TMI. And they are just so oily and it's so hard to get rid of the residue.
-
That's fantastic news penny. Out of the 10 you'll be sure to get more than 4 to test & then some normals. Our rate was 40% (6 out of 15) that were normal which was consistent with my age (30). Fingers crossed! I found that part of the waiting the hardest :-(
All the best for you scan tomorrow Joe. It's such a hard & draining process & certainly helps to vent on here.
Yeh I'm on the pessaries. I don't know what's worse, the crinone or these. I'm on 400mg (double dose) 3 times a day & finding the middle of the day one a challenge with work (I work 3 days a wk) & then have a toddler to sort out when I get home. They are certainly grose!
-
Well at least one of us has had good news!
Well done Penny on fantastic fert rates. Hoping they are all dividing away nicely :)
Scan this morning only showed 3 follies & a little one trying its hardest. Looks like this cycle is going to get cancelled :( pretty disappointing after having to wait so long for my pgd date. If we go again it'll be in January most probably. The good news is by then they might be doing the pgd in house again so won't have to travel to Sydney. Another scan on Friday but no ise going ahead with only 3!
-
Joespratt I'm so sorry sweets :( gosh I hope your follis have grown a mile by tomorrow! It sucks having to wait for a spot in the PGD side of things :(
Elarwood wow three times a day!! I'm just morning and night and I'm on holidays from work at the moment so it's not so bad.
Afm, clinic just called and said that 6 or 7 embys are good to be tested. The others ones are either growing slowly or showing signs of fragmentation. They said they will keep an eye on the others throughout the day in case they catch up. I don't understand how they could say 6 or 7? Surely it's one or the other. The emby either has 8 cells or not. I always get off the phone thinking of all these questions I should've asked :wall: I'm still feeling quite negative and down about this....maybe it's the progesterone though, I don't know.
What's the turn around time for the testing with your clinics ladies? The clinic said they would call us back this afternoon but I don't know whether that's to give us the results or to let me know how the embys are doing?? They say on their site they have results within 30 and 36hrs so within a day seems too quick.
-
I'm sorry to hear the disappointing news Joe. Can they up the dosage? It's such an emotional process & cancelled cycles are just awful. Fingers crossed for a better result tomorrow. Can they let you get these eggs & freeze & do another cycle in Jan to get more eggs before testing?
Penny I'm hoping for at least 7 to be tested for you, I'm not sure why they don't have exact numbers for you, hopefully this afternoon. I'm with QFG which sends the cells to their sister clinic Melbourne IVF & we got the results at 12pm on transfer day. We were literally waiting for results as my transfer was booked for earlier that morning. So at least 36 hrs. It was very nerve wrecking! But for your age, you should definitely have some normal ones!
They are defrosting 2 of our embryos this afternoon, I hate this part. I haven't had success on frozen cycles before but remaining positive that they will survive the thaw well. Yesterday was my day off & I completely forgot to do the middle of the day progesterone! I remembered as I was about to give dinner to my toddler at 5pm. i certainly wont forget today.
-
Elarwood good luck with your frosties! When will you find out if they made it through the thaw? We must belong to the same sister clinic....I just had a call from my clinic (ivf Australia) and they said 8 ended up making it to testing!!! That definitely added a bit of happiness into my heart and that they were being sent to Melbourne for testing like yours. Do they physically send them or is it just the info from the cell? They said they won't have results till Saturday morning so we will be going in Saturday lunch without knowing how we went, which is scary!!!
-
Thanks penny. Transfer is at 8.15 tomorrow so ill ask the scientist. My old clinic used to call an hr after they defrosted them & tell you how they were traveling. But I trust their judgement & if they need to defrost more than so be it.
Congratulations on getting 8 through the testing. you will definitely have some normals in that bunch. They only send the cells they take out to Melbourne the embryos stay at your clinic. We had the same agonizing wait, & only found out as they were putting one back. I remember being in shock & crying that we had 6.
-
I hope everything went well today Elarwood!!!
Joe sweets good luck today! I hope your follis have improved xx
My clinic called me and transfer is booked in for 11.45 tomorrow morning eeeek so nervous and excited at the same time. we have an emby to transfer and one to freeze!
-
Wow fantastic news penny! It's nice to have a back up. Your results were very quick. All the best for transfer tomorrow. 2 out of 8 is the same percentage we had.
My transfer went well. Our embies survived the thaw well, one upgraded from 6BB to 7AA (fully hatched, best possible grade) & the other 6BB to 7BB. Can't be happier with that. TWW begins. FS said beta in 12 days, his usual paperwork says 14 days, but I'm happy to go with the 12. On pregnyl & last one in 6 days so no HPT's for me. The nurse rang this afternoon though & said my progesterone was a little low, despite being on 3 x400mg pessaries a day & pregnyl. I have to up dosage to 4 x 400 a day & retest Monday. Why is this process never easy! Intralipids went well also, although FS put cannula in & hurt like hell & blood everywhere. The nurse said he's terrible at doing them. No joke! My arm ached the entire 3 hrs.
Joe, how'd your scan go today? Any luck with continuing your cycle? I have everything crossed for you.
