IVF with very high FSH #2

Tigga- i am so sorry i wish i new what to say but i cant find the right words i supose nothing will make you feel any better right now.

AFM-i did a lot of reading on other forums about women starting orgalutran early and actually most start on day 5 or 6 and my E2 level of 907 is fine there are ladies who have had day 3 E2 levels of 1300 and over so i am right on track and responding well my FS is just being cautious and starting me on it early as i ov early in a natural cycle so i feel much better now but will be happy when i have my U/S on monday and i see good big fat follies i am getting bloated now cant do up my pants it is uncomfortable but not painful at all

Tigga- so sorry to hear that this wasnt your month but I too know exactly how you feel with regards to sitting on the sidelines. This is exactly what I have been doing of late after another failed cycle and I apologise for not being around for support. I'm thinking of you.

Thanks everyone. Has anyone heard of or better still tried Shen Therapies in Brisbane? I'm rather cynical on all this alternate stuff (having given most things a go) - but they claim a 80%+ success rate. Would love to hear from anyone about their personal experiences.

Tigga - I am so very sorry...I hope you do take a break and step back ...all the disappointments can really break you down and I have found it to be quite helpful to step back although picking myself back up took longer than it has in the past

Hey girls just a quick one had U/S this morning i have 18 big follicles now 12 of those are good size the U/S lady said i stimulate reaaaaaly well and i she asked if i normally ovulate early i said yes and she said she can tell im ready to pop but i will wait and see what the FS say's they seem to give you lowest number of folloies i would be happy with 12 and god i hope my estrogen is behaving that is a concern cross fingers my results this arvo are good.

Results are in E2 is perfect at 6000 and i have 18 follies 7 are great and the other 11 are almost there the FS said she thinks another 4 will make it by the time i have EPU so i will hopfully have 10 or 11 she said i am a text book stimulater and everything is prefect hope it continues

Can i ask a question i am still a little worried over my E2 levels today was 6000 so they have doubled since monday my FS said they are excellent but i have read anything over 10,000 at EPU they worry about OHSS i am due to trigger sat night so if my levels double again in the next 2 days that will be 12,000 what was your level at trigger and does the E2 level still rise after EPU

AFM - I had my BT early this month as i normally have 3 or more days of spotting before DAy 1 of my cycle. I had an FSH of 11 two days before AF then BT again day before AF and FSH was 14. My FS said I could choose whether to go ahead with the cycle or not, so I am doing it. I started PUregon injections on Friday and have first scan on Tuesday. I guess that will determine if there's any point in going ahead with a higher FSH. The FN said if you have a higher FSH then you tend to get less follies... is that what you guys think?

Daisie-well i was doing great i have to trigger tonight at 1am and epu mon but i have been told to take the weekend off and preferably next week because my E2 went from 9000 yesterday to 16,000 today so i am at risk of OHSS i have to drink heaps of water and just rest no activity if i want to get to embryo TF she did say some people can walk around with E2 of 20,000 and have no problems and some people get sick with E2 OF 7000 so i hope i am one of the lucky ones i feel good so far no headaches or pain nothing i have 24 follicles 11 of those are between 25mm and 17mm so i hope i will be ok.

Hi Daisie, On my first greenlighted IVF cycle FSH was 7.6 - I responded poorly on 450 Gonal-F (might have had something to do with BCP prior???).
My last two cycles have both been with FSH of 10 - and my response has improved ever so slightly with each cycle. It's such an unknown - I would've made the choice to go with the cycle too. Best of luck to you - I will have everything crossed for you and hope Tuesday brings a good result!

Ferrals - You're tracking well! I'm confident your BFP is just around the corner.

BulieJ - Good luck for your upcoming cycle - I too, was thinking of squeezing another one in before the year's out - but mentally, I just can't do it to myself (and DH!) The disappointment this time has been crushing. Also had a very good friend (same age) cycle a week after me, first timer IVF - 25 follies, 14 eggs, 9 fert, 4 blasty's, 1 transfered (3 frozen) and got her BFP yesterday. I am so happy for her, but it really made my journey feel like a draining battle.

I'm back on the DHEA and have started Chinese Herbs/Acupuncture with a Fertility Specialist. I've been going to acu since July 08 - but this is a fertility specialist so hoping there is some positive difference. My AF Flow days are down to 2 days and he see's this as a potential problem (is recommending I do another Laparoscopy for endo - last one was done in 2007).
I feel somewhat confused...should I have given DHEA a chance BEFORE embarking on Chinese Herbs? Will the Chinese Herbs undermine in anyway any potential DHEA benefit? Will my clinic/FS freak at me for embarking on the Chinese Herbs? All the medico's etc give so many conflicting opinions that it's hard to know what to do at times. (Any advice on how others overcome this would be appreciated!)
I'm not planning to cycle again until February. I have booked an o/s trip in the meantime and am going to try to get a life away from TTC. Even though by doing this I miss out on 3 cycle opportunities, mentally - DH & I need a break...for our sanity.

I'll keep lurking and hoping for good results and updates from you ladies. Ours is a particularly tough journey - that's for sure, but we will all make it through! Strength and happiness to all.

Ferrals - Try drinking Electrolytes (not Gatorade etc) - I was at a fertility talk yesterday and they mentioned that it could help with OHSS.

Thanks Tigga i have heard or read that somewhere before but you just reminded me thankyou and i was told by my FS not to go on the herbs and things as it could be a problem for BT ect but last month when i couldnt start my cycle because of my high E2 i went back on my liquid vitex and i reackon that is what got my E2 down so i could start this month i believe you should do what you feel is right you know your body and you have tried the ivf they way the FS tells you to maybe try this and see how it goes i did not tell my FS i went back on the vitex until after my E2 went down and i got the green light and she diddnt seem to be to worried.
Anyway i am sending DH down the street to get some lucazsade (i think its called)

My FS told me not to take herbs and vitex and my E2 was to high to start last month so i went back on it and my E2 was almost normal after one month on it so i think you should do what you feel is right a lot of doctors are all for science somtimes there is room for natural therapies i did not tell my FS i went back on liquid vitex until after i started my cycle and she diddnt seem to be bothered.

AFM-I trigger tonight at 1am and EPU monday at 1pm cross your fingers for me that i don't get OHSS and that i don't get to sick from the sedative when i can get my head out of the toilet bowl monday i will get online and tell you how i went.

Hoping for 10-12 nice eggies.

Tigga - I was taking Sharkeys herbs all year until last month (when I ran out and decided not to order more) and my FS was totally fine with it, so long as I stopped taking them from the start of FSH injections. I found it helped to stabilise my cycle...which had been pretty erratic ... and helped to delay ovulation until day 13 or so. Which doesn't really matter for IVF anyway...but is good for trying naturally. Like i think I've said before... i'll try anything... so I reckon you go for the chinese herbals. I don't know anything about DHEA though... sorry.

Ferrals - gee you just reminded me that I need to drink heaps of water. Thanks for that. I'd forgotten. I hope it all goes ok for you.... try to relax and drink heaps. I'll be thinking of you.

I had my EPU we got 8 eggs the FS said i am not at risk for OHSS now she is not worried as my ovaries are perfect size and she thinks it was because i had a few really big follicles that pushed my E2 up so she has even put me on etrogen support tablets as she is worried my E2 will drop to much (go figure :dunno:) anyway so now we wait for the fertilisation report and pray they make it all the way

Tigga - who knows when my cycle will be. I've paid for it, have the drugs, should have had AF on Friday and she's nowhere. And believe me...there's no little miracle in my belly. I knew my cycle was messed up from the readings on my fertility monitor - but I have no way of knowing how messed up. I hope AF arrives before 3 Dec as that's my clinic's Xmas cut-off. If I don't get it by the 3rd I think we are done with IVF with my own eggs as my cut-off was end of year and I don't want to change it. I'm really over the battle against my body and am only doing this last cycle because I promised DH I would. The thing is, that would mean I've been taking DHEA for nothing for 3 months (my longest stretch on it - so what a waste!). I don't think DHEA has anything to do with the types of herbs your Chinese medicine guy is giving - at least, it doesn't have anything to do with AF - my understanding is that its sole purpose is to try to give you "younger" eggs. That being said, I'm no expert on interactions between drugs so it may be worth having your Chinese medicine person write down the names of the herbs and giving them to your FS. Although I say this, I have never followed my own advice- I have taken stuff prescribed by a naturopath as well as a Chinese herbs (at different times) all without consulting with my FS!
