Hi everyone,
Okay my period should be due today - egg pick up was Monday 6th Dec. No sign of my period yet (now 6pm) so I'm starting to get hopeful. I haven't had any period cramps like I have had in the past... so maybe, maybe????
Blood test is Wednesday (why do they make you wait so long).
This cycle I have had lots of nigling pains throughout the 2 week wait and also a tearing type feeling a few times (difficult to explain).
It's driving me crazy not knowing... and trying not to get my hopes up because I don't want to end up crushed.
Lori
Started this journey Dec 2006 so it would be great if this worked (egg pickup was almost exactly the 4 year anniversary of starting).

Hi Lovely Ladies
Dreamrise ~ thanks for your wishes and sharing about your friend. Yeh DH was on Menevit and a couple of other things and his sprem analysis has seemed to improve a bit but then we heard from our FS that Menevit is actually crap so now not so sure but perhaps anything is worth a try - I reckon. All the best tomorrow, :crossfingers: and  for you that you get a wonderful Xmas present. If not, go out a get drunk I reckon. Goodluck hon. Hope the pony didnt do any damage. I doubt it though.
Possum ~ hope you get a wonderful Xmas present as well (probably the only present you want - huh?). :crossfingers::pray: for you as well, goodluck on Thursday.
JBM ~ sorry to hear of your stress, hope you can get back into the swing of TTC very soon.
Mummy2chloe ~ good to have you around. All the best to you and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
Merry Christmas ladies - enjoy the festive season as much as you can. Even though our dreams for a child may not come true, life can be short so we need to celebrate with family and friends. xo
AFM ~ I will enjoy Christmas with my family even though in some aspects it will be hard as one sister has a 18month old and my other sister is due to have her 1st in 3 weeks and I'm still waiting. I love my family though so know I will still have fun. Been a bit depressed lately - it's all taking a toll now after 5yrs of TTC and thousands of $ spent and we are broke but I wont give up.

Thanks for your well wishes. Well still no sign of my period.. though the little niggling pains continue (but not like period pains). Everytime I go to the toilet there is a sense of dread of what I might find but still nothing... so I am getting my hopes up. Every other time I have at the very least had spotting and cramping by now (if not my full period) so this is the longest I've gone... hopefully it has worked and bub or bubs will stay for the full 9 months.
I had two fresh 2 day old embryos transfered.
I haven't done a preg test because I'm worried it might not be accurate and might squash my hopes for no reason or give me false hope. Trying to be good and just wait it out. I've always had my period by the time I had the blood test in the past so the result has never been a shock.

Hi Possums,
Looks like we must have both been posting at the same time.
Congrats on the positive test... hopefully it is confirmed on Thursday and this one sticks for the full 9 months.
Maybe we will both be celebrating good news this Christmas.
By the way we are the same age (I'm also 37) and I have only 1 dog but she is 3/4 toy poodle 1/4 bichon. I love the poodle breed and the fact they don't shed and are so small and easy to fit in anywhere. :-) She has adapted well to me doing family day care and her having to be locked in a crate while the kids are here. I think she realises it is safer for her to be away from the noisy toddlers. Though as soon as they are gone she is relieved to get out and follow us around everywhere again. At night she sleeps in my teenage daughter's bed with her.

Lori, best of luck tomorrow, and yes HPTs can be risky. We love that poodles don't shed too- my DH has allergies, which is why we chose them...our two are brothers and a cross between a toy and a miniature- we love them to bits! Yours sounds very adorable too.

Hi everyone,
BFP today... I had the blood test this morning and by lunchtime the clinic had rung to say I am pregnant!!!!! YAY
The only problem is that my progesterone levels are half what they would expect so I am now on progesterone pressaries twice a day and progesterone injections once a day. I have another blood test next Wednesday to check that I am still pregnant and see if my progesterone levels have increased. If I stay pregnant I will apparently need to stay on these drugs for the next 10 weeks and at a cost of $210 per week that's another couple of thousand I now have to see if I can borrow!!!! But it will be worth it if I stay pregnant.
Interestingly my HCG levels were double what is normally expected. I'm wondering if this could indicate twins? I had 2 embryos transfered. Does anyone on here know what it is likely to indicate.
Assuming I am still pregnant I have the fetal heart scan in 3 weeks so I guess I will find out then.
Now I just need to breathe... think positive and hope it/they stay.
Good luck with your test tomorrow possum

Congrats Lori and Possum - very exciting news for both of you :)
Hope everyone survived the Christmas period.
Nothing new here, Ovarian drilling is booked for Feb 14, still going through adoption processes which will take up most of the year. Desperately want to do IVF again after a break but no funds to do so, and trying to get out of the debt which has piled up.
I guess thats life though.
-
Bec, sending you my best, good luck with the adoption process and ovarian drilling. Life can be pretty tough going sometimes, so I hope you are doing OK.
lori- congratulations!! what were your hcg and prog levels?
afm- blood test last week at day 16 showed hcg at 365 and progesterone at about 430 (very high). I have a follow up BT today to make sure all is going well...fingers crossed...

hi everyone,
Bec good luck with the IVF and the adoption process. A teacher I used to work with adopted a child from overseas and the whole process took about 3 years. He told me there were many times when he just wanted to give up but his wife was determined. He explained that they do so many checks etc (including interviewing our principal and other teachers he worked with etc) that he felt like he was on trial. But in the end they got their little girl.
What I found interesting and sad was that they got her when she was 10 months old and she had spent her entire life in the orphange. It's a pity they couldn't have got her earlier so she wouldn't have had such a cold, lonely start to life. But all the red tape means none of the babies leave the country until they are atleast 6 months old. :-(
Possums, I'm glad to hear you are pregnant too. My blood test yesterday showed everything is going well and I saw one of the nurses who I have many times over the past 2 years and she was also the one at this last transfer. I felt alot better after talking to her because she told me that the extra progesterone should reduce my chance of miscarriage (to less than a normal pregnancy) so I should be viewing this as a positive thing that they discovered my low levels and are able to treat them. She explained that years ago they never even used to test for the progesterone levels.
I also found out that I only need to be on the drugs for another 5 weeks (not another 9 like the first nurse had told me).
Anyway my blood test results - last week progesterone was 56, yesterday it was 92 (which I was told is now within the lower end of the normal range?), HCG - last week it was 192 and yesterday it was over 3,400 (can't remember the actual number). So was told that is good. But wow your HCG was really high last week already and so was your progesterone.
Possums I hope you don't mind me asking but since you have had so many miscarriages in the past I wondered if you know what caused them and if this makes you worry more for this pregnancy? I guess I'm still feeling very nervous about my own pregnancy because with my daughter I fell pregnant by accident (whilst using contraception) and therefore it just seemed she was determined to be born... I never feared losing her. But since this one has needed so much medical intervention to get to this point I dont' get the sense that it is determined to be born? Does that make sense?

hi dreamrise-I am so pleased all is going well for you!
As for my miscarriages, yes, I had lots of tests after the last one, and they found out i have antiphospholipid syndrome...which causes blood clotting issues and can affect many things including the development of the placenta etc. So I am now on daily clexane injections to thin my blood. I also found out I have Graves Disease, and my overactive thyroid has been treated and is currently stable, with just a small dose of daily medication. So I am hopeful treating those things will make the positive difference we need this time. I will also be monitored closely throughout.
My levels today HCG, 3900, progesterone about 550 ...so things are on track. They said this high prog is just a result of coming out of the stim cycle, plus the crinone. I am very bloated too. Just so pleased though that things are as they should be.
Your hcg level sounds great too.... were your tests done a week apart?
-
Hi Possums,
Yes my tests were done exactly a week apart.
I'm glad they were able to give you some answers and that the drugs you are on now should help. fingers crossed. I don't know how I'd cope if I had 3 miscarriages (actually I think after 2 I would give up trying).
best wishes
Lori
