I'm about to get AF too hun so I'll let you know what mines like post-lap too. It's due today but no signs yet so I would say I'll be a day late.
Thinking of you today, you hot sexy mumma you!!!!!
xo
Nikki,
I have only just seen this thread but wanted to let you know what happened to me.
I had a lap done in Jan 07 where they managed to unblock one tube, but the other side was too far damaged.
I changed FS and gyno throughout the past year, saw my new FS twice, he sent me for the HSG test in North Sydney and straight away found the issues that have taken the other Dr's 7 years to miss
Everything is in my TTC journal - I won't hi-jack your thread ;) - but my main concern is when I noticed your location (Central Coast NSW)
That where I am too, and I'm really interested to know who you've been referred to and who the gyno was that did the lap and put the dye in the wrong place.
I've been seeing Dr's up here for years, and have come to find that they haven't investigated properly, missed things that should have been REALLY obvious... and I did 4 full stim cycles of IVF that was never going to work with the hydrosalpinx attached to my right tube.
It was found when I had the HSG done 2 weeks ago... from its size it has been there for years (according to what the Dr that did the HSG said).
I'm not saying that you have what I do - but pointing out that my FS & gyno up here were totally oblivious to it being there - and it should have been easily picked up.
I can give you the name of an exceptional FS and gyno in North Sydney (which is where I've been going) - the FS managed to diagnose my problem after seeing him twice - and in the very first consult he told me what he suspected it was.. and he was right.
If you want to PM me at all, we can have a good chat about specialists, etc :D
Hoping my post doesn't scare you - just would hate for you to waste so much time like I have seeing Drs up here that don't seem to be switched on enough ;)
Of course, they wouldn't all be like that.. and I'm still holding a 'little' bit of anger with my current situation ;)
PM me if you want to hunny xxxxxxx
I completely second HB's advice - shop around for a specialist!
My first GYN who I had been seeing since I was 16 was fantastic. She was very kind and very patient and listened to all of my concerns. I thought she was brilliant. HOWEVER, when my pain issues first started my symptoms pointed towards a range of different things - including endo but she never thought it was that serious. Over the past two years I have been prescribed tablets for UTI's, creams for thrush - you name it she tried it. The whole time I kept saying "It's not working" or "We've tried that" and every time she would say it wasn't that serious. I became so frusterated because I knew that none of it was going to work - a cream was not going to fix it and I knew I didn't have thrush.
She moved back to Sydney earlier this year so I didn't have a choice but to see a different GYN. As soon as I described my symptoms he immediately suspected endometriosis and I was booked straight in for a lap. Lo and behold - he found and removed endometriosis.
Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes and ears to want to investigate different areas. It worked for me and I couldn't have got a better result.
Thinking of you today :)
Thanks again Nic - yeah im just about to sit down and write all my questions out on a bit of paper.... i feel so nervous right now its not funny... i dont know why im nervous but i am ... i hate it
Dee - thanks hun.... lol i understand what you are saying... i was thinking the same thing too.... my AF is getting alot more heavier now... whereas usually on CD3 is becomes really light
Smithy - Yep a new avvy for me :) I love it hehe..... Thanks for your wishes for today
Amy - did you get AF yet??? I read alot of times it is super heavy after a lap
Thanks Rufi :)
Holly - (pm'd you) Thankyou sooooooooo much for posting it here... it has really made me feel alot better.... My Gyno didnt say he tried to unblock my tubes or if they were to damaged to do anything about it.... he didnt say anything :( I'm really hoping i get alot more answers today, if not i think i'll go crazy
I just dont understand how doctors can miss something for so long and this is what they are meant to specialise in... I'm really glad your FS now has answers for you :)
Cant wait to get your reply.... im really hoping you know my GYNO (thats the main one i need to know about atm)
Thankyou again to everyone :grouphug:
ETA
Amy - yeah i know what you mean... i'm really at a loss as to who is good around here or not (we moved from the country about 3 years ago) and none of my friends up here has ever been to a FS /GYNO or anything like that so they cant recommend me one so i've just been to who my GP reffered me too which he said he hasnt dealt with either one..... Its hard to trust people these days huh
I'm one of those people who believes almost anything a specialist will say to me, as i think its there job... they are experienced in this, whereas i have no idea and they know what they are talking about, but after reading HB's post it has really shown me the light they some of them really dont
Just PM'd you hun ;)
Unfortnately I don't know of your gyno.. but certainly know stacks about the other stuff!!!
Hope the info I sent helps you out xxx
And FWIW... if you have the feeling that the Dr's aren't quite doing enough for you, chances are they aren't.
Trust your instincts sweetie - and good luck :D
Holly - i will pm you soon
OMG Dont i feel like the biggest FOOL in the whole world... my GYNO made me feel like an absolute idiot
I went in there and just said the reason i was back was because i had a few questions about my lap and he grinned at me while was not comforting (i know that doesnt sound bad but it was the way he done it) anyway i starting asking questions and he explained it better to me, and he said that he couldnt understand it and my tubes look fine on the outside and thats why he wanted to do another LAP... this is when i started talking abt the HSG and it said to me that he doesnt advise me do that because it hurts alot... i said i dont care about the pain (lol which i dont) and then he got up and walked to the door (as dr's do when they are finished) and i said so a HSG is not a good idea??? He said no and i said (which is sooo unlike me usually i would have just walked out) can i get a referal to see someone who will refer me so i can get a HSG done... and he walked over and sat back down and wrote me a referal for the HSG while doing this he was saying i was silly (not in those words) for wanting this done, and that i really shouldnt have this done etc... i felt like a complete idiot
Anyway so i pre-booked my HSG for the 6th of Jan... the lady who i called wasnt sure if the right doc would be in on that day but i hope so
After this im not going back to that gyno..... only just to get the results
Nikki that is TERRIBLE!! DOn't feel like an idiot.
Your best bet is to find a GYN who you trust and can confide in. Shop around hun. This one sounds like a dud.
Big hugs and I'm glad you are booked in for that HSG.
Aww Nikki he sounds horrible! You have the right to ask for a HSG, the guy sounds like he has messed up. I am glad you are finding a new Gyno but it sucks you should have to. Hang in there hun .
Sweetie, DO NOT feel like an idiot - he sounds like the idiot ;)
The HSG is FAR less painfull and stress free compared to a 2nd lap.. and remember what I said in the PM about the extra scar tissue & adhesions EVERY time you have a lap done.
I was really concerned about having the HSG done, only because of the pain - I took some pain relief an hour beforehand on advice from my FS (will PM you the pain meds and how much, but got it all over the counter at the chemist)... and the pain of it was managable - cramping like period pain.
I guess everyone's pain threshold is different, but I would sure as hell MUCH prefer the HSG to another lap - the lap you are in pain for a little while after... with the HSG, you hop off the table and you're fine.
After mine 2 weeks ago, DH & I walked around the city & had lunch.. and then went to a concert at the Entertainment Centre afterwards ;)
She pushed me to the limits with the dye as well, because we KNEW the tube was blocked and really didn't have any chance of breaking through.. you don't know that yours won't.
Poo-ey to him is all I can say
Have your HSG done, and take the results to a new gyno ;)
Better yet, see if you can get in with the FS I advised and take the results to him.. he'll sort it out ;)
Don't let him make you feel like an idiot, hun... BECAUSE YOU AREN'T xxxxxx
:yeahthat:
 Nikki, you are well within your rights to ask for a HSC. I think it would be a much better option than another LAP. Much less intrusive.
And when you get it done try and get them to copy you or at least your GP on the results, and that way you might avoid needing to see that Gyno again.
Good luck with finding yourself a new Dr who will look after you better.
xo
Thanks so much guys..... i have had an absolutely horrid day today..... i just havent been able to stop crying... I am feeling alot better tonight tho..... I know even if my tubes are blocked that it isnt the end of the world, i guess its just alot for me to take it
Holly - i hope u can understand my pm... why i was writting it my head was killing me from crying so much....so probably wasnt the best time to pm you
Rufi - great idea about getting them to give me a copy for my GP... i really do trust my GP :)
Oscar and Amy  to you both :)
Nikki - Have PM'd you again... your PM made sense to me ;)
Ruf is right about getting the results - I don't know where you've booked in, but I had it done in North Sydney, and I had to go back an hour later & collect the x-ray.
They faxed a copy to my FS and I have the originals with me... not sure if they'll do that for you but its worth asking.
To answer one of the questions in your PM... if you see the FS, you wouldn't need to see the gyno again... if it turns out you don't need IVF, it doesn't matter.
He's a Fertility Specialist, so he deals in anything to do with that area.. blocked tubes is one of them xxx
Oh sweetie of course it's a lot to take in. I know exactly how you feel hun  I did not expect to ever have any problems down there as I have always been so healthy. It was a big shock to find out I had endometriosis and leading up to the lap I was highly emotional from the uncertainty.
We may still need IVF for other reasons (genetic) which we are yet to sort out. I know its a scary concept but if you do some research and get your head around all of the possible scenrios you will start to feel more comfortable with the idea.
Cry and vent and do whatever you need to do hun. We are all here for you
Nikki, I only just saw this thread.
What I don't undwerstand is why he didn't flush your tubes out then and there???? Remember I had a lap back in June (i think it was) and I had the dye put through, my tubes flushed and a curette. Just a good clean out I guess. Even if he couldn't get the dye through your tubes, why didn't he just flush them?
I know the flushing worked for me because I fell the next cycle (but it ended in m/c).
I would definately go and see someone else! He sounds a bit odd to me and quite rude and heartless!
Huge  for you.
Hun, thinking of you today and hope you are able to manage to try and get a smile on your face at some point. xo
Thanks so much guys.... I'm actually feeling alot more positive about things today..... Tho as i said to Rufi i know im going to have good and bad days.... i guess i was mainly upset yesterday because of the way i got treated... When i went to see my GP he was really understanding and concerned but then come yesterday my GYNO was a total a** ... i didnt think i was out of line asking for a HSG at all... actually i think its alot more realistic to do that over another LAP next month
Nadine -Thanks for coming in here hun.... i really have no idea if he tried to flush my tubes out of not.... apparently the dye wouldnt even get in my tubes (so if they are blocked they are blocked at the uterus)... i did ask him yesterday if when doing a lap can they try and unblock them... he just said no (no explanation or anything)
I Do need to go see someone else... im not planning on going back to him
I Would be so lost right now without all you girls help :) its made a huge difference having all your support
