Pholi - FX for your BT tomorrow. Hopefully you get to post some good news.
For those that are still going through, or about to start another ivf journey, good luck. May this be our 'positive' year xo
Just a quick question, has anyone had any success with royal jelly and or acupuncture for improving their egg quality or becoming pregnant? ? Read some old posts about this, but there wasn't that much really. Low gi wad also an idea?? Thanks ladies for providing an opportunity for me to vent/ask questions.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Pholi hope you have good news today xxx
hopeful mum yes I have had success with acupuncture and have heard good things about taking royal jelly for egg quality. There is
something else I was taking for egg quality as well but for the life of me I cant remember but as soon as I do I will get back to you xxx

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thank you 1 more please, you're an angel to think of me. I'm going ok, leading up to xmas it was really hard, I was floating in this constant fog. Then when the new year ticked over, I felt a bit better, but then today I was down again. I think I need to see someone as I really think I'm heading for depression :(
Hopeful mum, I've been taking royal jelly (2 tablets a day) and other tablets for a long time now. I'm really not sure if it has helped my egg quality, but my AMH level went up from 7 or 8 to 17. Still, even with those good AMH levels, which I am told are great for a 44 year old, they haven't been able to fish out that 'good ' egg. Sigh. Hope it works for you hun, it wouldn't hurt to try. Even though we are finished with ivf, I'm still taking the royal jelly, the melatonin and COQ10, not sure why, but in case we conceive naturally, which is next to impossible, I am taking stuff. Hope that makes sense.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thank you both miss B and 1 more please.
I'm going to start on the royal jelly soon. I'm guessing that it doesn't affect the ivf drugs? ?
I've still to find an acupuncturist in townsville. Thought I had found one, but they are in Brisbane
:-(
I'm nearly 44 miss B and I'm stressing out that any future cycles won't work due to my age.
It breaks my heart to see and hear about all the women that experience problems with getting pregnant and having a child. I always thought that there was something wrong with me because I never got pregnant in my younger years :-(
I am blessed with a beautiful little boy (through ivf), so I feel that shouldn't be selfish to want more. It's just that being a mother completes me.
Anyway, I really hope that pholi has good news to tell. Unsure if she would be doing a post with news this soon.
Miss B you are an amazing woman and I truly wish for you to achieve your heart's desire for another child /children. There is no shame in seeking help with coping through what you have gone through in your ivf journey. Big hugs going out to you.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thanks Miss B you reminded me of what I was trying to tell hopeful mum COQ10 was what I was told as well ;)

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thank you hopeful mum. I, like you, am so grateful for my DS but it breaks my heart that he's unlikely to get a baby brother or sister in the future. He never used to ask, but now he does, and it breaks my heart when I tell him that mummy has tried but it's just not possible. I knew that I had the odds stacked against me big time, my FS was giving me a 10% odds of achieving a pg, but only 2% odds of 'take home baby' (so the other 8% would be a m/c). Naturally, we can't conceive, OH has had vesectomy done many years ago, and when the urologist reversed it, the count came back at zero, so it didn't work. He's only got one testicle, as he lost one when he had testicular cancer 10 years ago, so again, were're only working with 50% of his bits lol. So we were very fortunate to conceive DS, but I was only 38, and my eggs were of pretty good quality then, so it was a lot easier. I think if we had unexplained fertility, or low sperm count, or low egg reserve, there would still be some sort of a chance of achieving a natural pg. But with no 'live' swimmers coming down the you know what, it's pretty much impossible. Or 1 in a trillion chances if it's possible at all. I was so desperate last night, I actually thought of sperm donation, but then I don't think OH would go for that. Can you do that anyway? Sigh...what desperate thoughts I'm having these days :(
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Miss B. I'm so sorry. I am not sure infertility ever gets any easier but I hold hope that somehow we alll find a way to cope with the loss. I hope you find a way forward that feels right for tou and OH. Donor sperm is an option at some clinics (both from a known 3rd party and an unknown 3rd party). I have a frw friends doing that option but they have said it is very expensive.
AFM. I am struggling. Think I'm still grieving. Hoping I start to feel less sad and come out of the haze soon.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thanks Jane, I most probably wouldn't go through the option of sperm donation, if anything, I would need a younger egg! I think when I'm desperate I think of all these things, but then I am brought down to earth for a reality check lol.
I'm sorry you're struggling hun. Take one day at a time, it does get easier. Grieving takes time. You'll know when you feel ready to go again. Big hugs xxx

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Bfn.
AF arrived on Monday, 2 days before the BT was scheduled. CD5 today. I was sad, angry, feeling a bit more accepting of it now.
But doing another FET this cycle, with the last of our frosties.
I felt strongly that none of the three day 5 embryos from that collection cycle were going to take, and so far it's panning out that way. I'm still doing everything right. I hope in wrong about this last one.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
I'm so sorry, Pholi. :(
Good luck for this cycle. Hopefully this one will stick xx
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Pholi - sorry to hear your results weren't positive :'( Good luck with the next round, FX for a positive result. It's a struggle, but please stay positive and stress free for this next embryo. When do you start the cycle?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thank ladies.
Hopeful mum, cd1 was Monday, now it's just a matter of monitoring my bloods until the surge, then a trigger injection for ovulation, and the transfer will be booked for 5 days post ovulation.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Pholi, sorry to hear your cycle was BFN. :(
Spoons, thank you for updating the list while I was away.
Miss.B, DD doesn't ask for a sibling but she seems to have a plethora of imaginary friends and we know she's lonely and it's so hard to watch. It's hard to not think of how old the bubs we lost would have been so what age playmate she'd have had now if we hadn't lost them...
Afm, home from holidays and on the pill to keep AF away until I'm ready to do another IUI with the FS. Now that Christmas is over, need to try to eat better and lose some weight. Also need to start back at acupuncture and see if that might help my start O'ing again... But first, have a 4th birthday party to plan, so putting all the TTC stuff on the backburner until Feb...

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Good luck Pholi. I hope this cycle is the one.
Im waiting for AF to start another medicated FET cycle. I have absolutely no idea when to expect AF so am trying to forget about it all for now and do other nice things in this down period. Finally feel like im coming to terms with our loss. Still think im morr anxious currently as a result but at least for now tjings arent getting any worse.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Pholi, I'm sorry the last cycle didn't work. I hope the next cycle brings you good news x
Juniper, I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for your IUI cucle. DS has lost of friends here to play with, he is the only boy with 4 girls next door lol. He's also got his almost 4 year old cousin close by and they just adore each other. It's only when I say, so and so's brother or sister, and then he starts asking where his brother or sister is :(. I always tell him he's got his big brother in heaven and he loves to talk about him. I just so wish he was here instead. DS's friend next door is turning 5 next month, can't help but think Joshua would have been that age as he was due 12 Feb 2009, and what great little playmates they would have been.
Jane, fingers and toes crossed for your FET hun. I know it must be so hard to be still grieving for your little lost angel, but let yourself be excited that you're getting another opportunity. I really hope the next FET is the ONE :crossfingers:

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Just wanted to pop in and update
pholi: sorry this cycle wasn't the one
Fingers crossed for everyone else
AFM, halfway through my 2 month stint on the pill to try and regulate my cycles and we are going in to freeze some more embryos around the 25th feb at this stage provided my cycle is good. in between we will continue ttc, but we have been told it would be extremely unlikely to happen naturally.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Hi girls- I'm here!
No idea what CD I am, or when/what/if the plan is to do IVF again.
I'm lurking, but I'm pretty sure I am done :(
Not by choice, I just don't know if I can justify the money for more PGD, when previous cycles have only given me one good embryo.
Then, when that doesn't take- I'm back to the beginning.
Best of luck to everyone :)

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Hiya. Has anyone else ever had mid cycle bleeding? AF finished CD6 and I've been bleeding again since CD13. I've never had this before. I went to the GP and they did a urine pregnancy test which was negative (as expected) and said to keep an eye on it and if I'm still bleeding in a week they'll think about sending me for a ultrasound.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Spoons sorry to hear AF is messing you around. Ive had breakthrough bleeding mid cycle but think it was cos my levels don't always track as they are meant to. Hoping it all resolves for you soon.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
juniper76 can i be added to the listing.
I start my 6th ivf cycle (inj etc) on 29th January. Will be my 8th cycle of ivf, was blessed with a DS on my second cycle (only 1 FET).
Started royal jelly and COQ10 last Friday. Will also be having an initial consultation with an acupuncturist that deals in conjunction with ivf medications. I realise that I have started late in trying to obtain good eggs and a welcoming womb for any embryo to imbed, but FX. Already inj LUVERIS for egg quality. Usually get 8 or 9 eggs collected, with most fertilising naturally, but only get 1 or 2 advancing to day 5 Blastocyst stage. Have 1 frozen embryo. Hoping for more so that I can do a frozen cycle without the inj :-).
Just wondering, fs has stated that clomide twice daily is maximum to have. I will be going with clomide in morning and progesterone pessaries in evening for next transfer. This was what I did after 2nd cycle where I was blessed with DS. Has anyone else been told only twice a day for clomide / progesterone pessaries?
Thanks and wishing all going through their own stages of ivf the best. Xo to all.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Spoons, I had that happen last year - had AF, a few days break and then another AF (started CD8). I ended up writing off the first week as a freakish 1-week cycle because everything that followed after the second AF was exactly like a normal cycle.
hopeful mum, do you mean Clomid or something different? Sorry, I'm trying to clarify because your question is confusing me. Clomid is usually used for ovulation induction and is only taken once per day over 5 days at the start of the cycle. Is Clomide something different?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Sorry juniper76 for steering you in a different direction :-) So many different drugs with these cycles. It's Crinone, not Clomide. To provide progesterone. Thank you :-)
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
hopeful mum, in that case, I needed either 3x crinone or 3x 200g pessaries daily PLUS 3x 1500iu pregnyl booster shots (nominally 3, 6 and 10dpo) to get enough luteal support. I had bleeding as early as 9dpo when I only had 2 progesterone per day because it wasn't enough progesterone for me.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Thanks Jane and juniper. The bleeding has stopped today :crossfingers: I'm not sure if this is a whole new cycle or not. I'll use opks and see if they give me any ideas of where I'm at. I'll ring the FS when I start to bleed again for advice as I'm supposed to start clomid on CD2.
How is everyone going? Pholi, have you ovulated?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
So it looks like AF is here. Will be CD1 tomorrow and doing a medicated FET cycle. So fingers crossed all goes to plan and ill have a baby on board by 7th feb. Feeling anxious already!!!

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Juniper76 spoke with FS today and he mentioned that he used to prescribe pregnyl, but doesn't anymore as there is no evidence that it increases the chance of a successful pregnancy.
I had my first acupuncture appt last sat, lovely guy named Michael. Next appt is this sat and then dependant on when egg collection is, depends on whether he sees me on Saturday 7th or mon 9th/tue 10th. Then another appt prior to embryo transfer and straight after. Apparently he had a few women in this ivf cycle. Is that positive for working, or are they clutching for anything to give them the results they so desire (like me)??
Partner asked me tonight when am I going to give up on having any more children, using ivf. That's a hard question to answer. I so would love to have more children and realise that I am getting older. I just don't think that I can give up yet. He doesn't understand what I and all of us go through each time we do a cycle. The disappointment and the heartache of either not having a positive result or of losing the tiny being inside :'(
Sorry ladies, just having a moment of being worried my journey to achieve another little miracle will be taken away from me.
Stay safe, good luck and best wishes to all xo.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
:
Juniper76 spoke with FS today and he mentioned that he used to prescribe pregnyl, but doesn't anymore as there is no evidence that it increases the chance of a successful pregnancy.
It's not something that increases egg quality or anything like that, it's just luteal support. I realise I don't have his expertise or professional experience, but my personal experience has been that it is a very effect method of luteal support. There was a shortage in recent years, so maybe he decided at that time that it wasn't worth the effort since there were more readily available alternatives? Who knows? But after doing an IUI cycle with 250iu FSH (which was enough to have AF arrive early when I was just on 2x crinone daily), I used only 3x 1500iu pregnyl boosters (3, 6 and 10dpo) with NO progesterone and had a 17-day LP, so it clearly worked very effectively as luteal support and 3 injections over the 2ww is a LOT easier than 30-50 crinone or pessaries... A high enough dose of progesterone would achieve the same degree of support, so it's not the end of the world if he doesn't prescribe it any more (as long as he gives you enough progesterone)...
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #1
Juniper76 thank you for your comment /advice. FS has said that 2 x crinone or pesseries per day is all he is prescribing. I still have some crinone left over from previous cycles so I am thinking that I will do 2 x crinone and 1x pessary per day. Because i am trying a couple of new things this cycle (steroids starting from first day of gonal-f through to pregnancy blood test, and acupuncture) I don't know if taking another drug would be a good idea?
