Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
CatyO, if the spotting is just from the cervix being irritated or similar, it should be fine, but I'd definitely want to get some official advice from my FS before proceeding. I expect it would only be an issue if the bleeding is from your lining for some reason (which seems unlikely to me), which could make your lining unsuitable for implantation. Let us know what the nurses tell you.
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
So I've figured, while Im waiting, I will do a bit of research and I was wondering if you girls could help :)
What will I have to do for icsi? Like, what's the procedure? I have no real life friends to ask these things..
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Hi girls have just flown back into perth from bali and have to be at the clinic in 4 hours for tracking bloods, fingers crossed we have caught ovulation!!! Catyo - my ds is from a 3 day transfer :)
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
CatyO I hope your embys are going strong!
Fingers are crossed Amy, hope you enjoyed your time in Bali!
TubbyPuff - icsi is where a single sperm is injected into an egg. I think it's used when there are MF issues, but I'm sure not solely for that purpose. We do icsi, it's just an added cost on top at our clinic, & I haven't had to do anything different in my protocol. It's all done once collection has happened:) hope that helps a bit!
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Thanks PS :) another question.. will I have to do all the needles before EPU? Or are there different methods and they decided which is best for the individual?
As far as I know, I don't have any issues my end, it's DP as he had the snip after his youngest was born..
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Hmm...I would say yes because they would need to collect your eggs to do the icsi. Someone may know a different method though. I've only ever done the whole needle, collection then icsi protocol. :)
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Hi girls, thanks for your comments. My 2 embryos are doing well and we are going to transfer both this afternoon.
Juniper, apparently the spotting was from the cervix or some puncture they do to get to the ovaries to collect the eggs, yesterday stopped after I posted on here. Its incredible how the body recovers, yesterday, even last night I was feeling still sore, asi if I had inflammation, felt my tummy very swollen, and this morning like magic I don't feel anything.
Im on pessaries 3xday Endometrim 100mg but I put it in and like 2 hours later is as if it melted and comes out some white liquid (sorry tmi), is this normal?
Good luck Amy, I hope you caught ovulation!
We didn't use ICSI, as we don't have MFI, but after this cycle with 13 eggs, 9 mature and only 2 fertilised, I remembered a Dr, that has a clinic in the USA and you can ask him questions and he will respond, and you can also Skype him. First I thought well surely his staff answers the questions, but last Tuesday I asked him what could have happened, as my FS said my eggs were good. And he asked me if I wanted to organise a Skype videocall and I got excited as if I was going to speak with my favourite singer, very silly. To my surprise is actually him the one you speak to! Anyway, he asked if it was with icsi, I said no, and he asked me why? if my FS didn't suggest it, and I said yes she did, but I didn't want to, I thought it would be better to leave them doing it by themselves, instead of stressing the eggs or the sperm, and he said, for ALL his patients is mandatory to do ICSI wether they have MFI or not, and he referred to 2 articles on his websites, that I read and are very interesting if you guys want to have a read, let me know and I will msg you the links as I don't think Im allowed to post them on here.
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Good luck with your transfer, CatyO. :)
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Tubby puff. Yes you will have to do needles cos they will want to be able to harvest as many eggs as they can from you at the one time. Once they have collected your eggs they will inject them each with a sperm and wait to see which fertilise and grow. After 3-5 (usually 5) days you will get the embryo transfered. Any remaining embryos will be frozen for later cycles if needed. Hope that helps
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
:) thanks PS and Jane :)
I hate needles  (says she with multiple tattoos) but I'm pretty sure incan put that fear aside for my future babies :)

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
There are IVF protocols that involve using minimal or no ovarian stimulation (mostly in America to save money since they pay big bucks for their FSH meds - we're very lucky to have the PBS cover those!). However, minimal ovarian stimulation means minimal eggs and none means just 1 egg. Unless you have a reason to avoid producing multiple eggs/embryos (and some people do have a strong religious objection to producing more than can be transferred that cycle), you really do want to do a more standard cycle, which does mean lots of needles. The FSH is the easiest injection you'll ever meet! And I say that as someone who used to be so phobic of needles that just being told I had to have a needle would make me vomit... If I can do it, anyone can! Seriously!!
CatyO, I'm curious to know the name of the Dr, if you don't mind PMing that to me. Thanks.
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Thanks juniper! That makes me feel a lot better about it haha :)
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Sneaks in to say those needles are not painful at all. My first one DH did and I didn't feel a thing :)
Now clexane??? Another story that baby bites!!
Good luck ladies xx
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
TubbyPuff I was terrified of needles (to the point I'd hide under the Dr's desk)😳 but after the first jab I soon got over it! Joeve is right though Clexane does bite...not looking forward to those next week😁
Good luck CatyO! I'll have everything crossed for you!
