Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception - Dec 2007 #3

MWL, I'm sorry that Christmas was so difficult. AF is the pits, but Christmastime is just AF being ridiculous. It sucks. I hope that you and DH can find solace together, even though there's a wait now for your next cycle. Perhaps there is a small positive to take out of this - a break is better for your body rather than doing back to back cycles. I don't know if it's any comfort, but I thought I'd just put it out there.
I went through a BFN only a few weeks ago, and I know BG did too, and I still have days where it bothers me a lot. Grieving and feeling like carp is how you're entitled to feel and we're all here with you, to support and understand as much as we can how you're feeling.

miss_c is absolutely right hun - no one expects you to be happy and bounce back immediately after a BFN - it hurts like hell that something so important has been torn from your grasp when you've been so close - and you are more that entitled to grieve for that!!

well it was day 21 on x mas day for me so this mth it was just to hard to fit in to get to a doc to check my levels

Just wanted to ask you all what do you think about this
Every month from day 21 i always seem to get brown spotting right up untill my af comes to see me i have asked my gyno why i get this and he said he wasnt sure but said most likely as i have pcos
but this month
on day 21 and 22 i had light brown spotting again nothing much but alittle to still be able to say it ws there but since day 23 its gone back to clear cm now
also had sore nipples since day 21 and now im day 24 and my nipples are killing me
I havent had this nipple problem in the past but i have gone upto 100mg so do you think it maybe the reason cause of the clomid making my body do this or do you think its good signs for early pregnancy
Im not to sure on what day i did O so it makes things alittle hard

Any ideas would be great

I just wanted to say that I always got spotting before AF for a few days and the only cycles I didn't get it were my pregnancy cycles, including this one. Good luck.

I'm new to this thread, have popped in on advice from Slyder (thanks Slyder :))
DH and I have one IVF baby, an almost 9 month old boy named Reid. He was actually a twin but I miscarried one at 7 weeks.
We're just getting ready for a FE cycle in January, right now I'm just waiting for AF to turn up so that we can get started.
I look forward to getting to know you all and here's hoping we're all celebrating BFP in 2008.

I think you'll like this thread - it's pretty dead at the moment but usually is pretty lively. Not sure if I mentioned it on the other thread you were in and I can't be bothered going hunting, but we're soon to commence our second FET with two embryos. We've done one stim and one FET so far with neg results. If this FET doesn't work then we'll be doing another stim in May or thereabouts.

And everyone else here is at varying stages of the process so there's plenty of info and advice to be had.

i noticed you're from south east Vic - are you going through one of the Melbourne IVF clinics or a regional one?

We're going through Monash IVF at Clayton, Prof. Healy is our FS. We live in Pakenham, so it's not too far and we can occasionally get appointments with him at Berwick.

Slyder we had one stim and then one FET cycle, both with BFN, then the third one, a FET was positive. The first two I felt different, bloated, ill etc. The third I felt nothing at all and was sure it was a negative so when they said positive I sat down very fast :) Here's hoping it's a lovely BFP for you this time.

we're going through a monash regional clinic out at Sale - had to go to Clayton for the counselling appointment but everything else has been out here

I just told DW (Dear Wife, if you're not up with the lingo), who is behind me slobbing about on the couch, how it worked for you on your second FET and it gave her a little glimmer of hope. I guess we've been feeling a bit flat and neither of us can imagine getting that BFP. But I always find it useful to hear of people in similar circumstances getting great results, so thankyou.

Slyder we started IVF in the January of 2006, first cycle. Had another transfer in the May and the third transfer was July 27th which turned out to be the lucky one. I'll keep everything crossed you have the same success.

nah, i'm kinda half way between you and sale! sale is easier for us than what clayton or richmond are though travel-wise...

:) I work in Warragul, hubby works in Morwell.

i live about 30k's out of Morwell - work in Traralgon - so Sale is much more convenient!

i'm surprised you live in Pakenham and migrate out each day - most people do it the other way!

Unfortunately it's not by choice that we live in Pakenham. We're looking at moving to Drouin but that's about as far as we can go, we have shared custody of DH's older children and they go to school in Cranbourne.

ahhh, ok, that makes sense!!

i'm so used to people commuting in to pakenham or further that it took me by surprise when you travelled out!

i prefer to live out here - although i'm sure the bypass has reduced the traffic in pakenham now - i just can't stand "busy"!

The bypass makes all the difference! it's so easy to actually get into town now.

There are so many different threads I had trouble finding the last one I posted to..
Anyway just got back from Seeing alien vs predator requiem with DH to take my mind of AF arrival today....
not really my cup of tea....
I am glad the mood shifts but the what ifs just keep running through my head. I have so much respect for you all being so calm and positive....
anyway tomorrow is another day. Ill go in and get blood test - just to confirm what I know which will be great... and then start this roller coaster all over again.
I thought making babies was meant to be fun.... ha... that person that coined that phrase certainly didn't use AC did they? Plus DH is too worried to have sex during 2ww which means there is 2 weeks every month at least there is nothing and then AF week - so its not doing a lot in terms of helping there.....I really will stop whinging now and get to bed.

For whatever reason, i don't tend to post in this thread - i usually post in tww when i'm at that stage of my cycle, then i go awol for a bit :doh: .... though all your names have become very familiar and each morning when i check BB it's lovely to catch up with everyone.... anyway, a new year is just around the corner, so lets hope for BFP's all round :confetti: .... i'm not sure why i'm feeling so chirpy, as dreadful AF is on her way, after our 2nd round of clomid. I think i'm feeling ok ish, because i already have my next action plan forming in my mind - this makes me feel as if i still have some control i guess..... so it will be onto IUI, to crank things up a notch. Wishing all a wonderful New Years, and as a friend of mine who is ttc says " let's procreate in 2008 " !! :dance:

I suspect that just right now with so many on a break over the christmas new year period (who gave those damn clinics permission to close?!) things are a bit quieter and calmer here. Welcome, anyway. Glad to have you on board.

ThereseP, also welcome to you. I haven't made it to the TWW thread for a very long time, so I think this is the first time I've encountered you here.

And another welcome to LeeBS - so many new faces, and I'm sure I've missed a few!

I've been away for a few days, reminding myself just how unsupportive and insensitive my family really are, with the exception of my four and a half year old nephew who decided that I'd be the only one to get hugs the night he was over because I was in the middle of the arthritis flare from hell and felt like crap! I'm home now, and much happier. AF is over, I'm nearly half way through my OI drugs, and a week from now and I'll be calling the clinic to book in for the FET cycle. I actually feel pretty good about this one - it's more like our first FET when we conceived our much-loved Caterpillar, rather than the second FET where we miscarried straight away. It's a good feeling to go into a FET with!

Love and hugs to everyone... my philosophy on going into 2008 - it's got to be a better year, because simply nothing could suck as much as 2007 did!

God i feel really nervous. I'm on the way out to see my doctor. I think i'm having an internal ultrasound... bluck. :(God they are so yuck. then depending on that more gonal f or a trigger injection..... Is the trigger going to hurt. I just hate all this intervention,why can't my body just co operate and do this naturally.. Feeling nauseos(sp), just nerves i guess. I'll let you all know how i go. I hope everyone is having a great day, and not having yucky tests..lol. The things we do:rolleyes:

I was on Clomid and have only had one trigger shot and from my experience..... yep it hurt. Not a pleasant injection and the pain lasted for a good hour or so after too. It will be all worth it in the end though! Good luck

Hi everyone,

Synarel/OCP is knocking me about much more this cycle - I seem to have a few hours of congestion problems after my morning spray of Synarel atm - hope it's being absorbed ok. Pretty tired too - seem to be able to sleep at the drop of a hat at any time of the day - but hey, that could be as much the ongoing heat in Melbourne atm (it's due to reach 42 degrees today - how ridiculous), or the whole getting to stop at Christmastime after months of frenetic organising for wedding/sale of home/ILs visit etc. In any case, I'm glad it's not so busy right now. Our house settles on the 25th Jan, so the packing starts 2nd Jan - I promised myself that I would have a week off after Christmas before starting. Looking forward to stopping OCP on 2nd also - side effects may settle a bit then. Lets hope nasty AF does the right thing and shows up on cue this time round.

theresep - I agree with you - taking action and the next definitive step really is like a therapeutic way of dealing with the low points (i.e. BFN) of AC. I'm glad to hear your preparing yourself for your next plan, and I hope you're doing ok :hug: Welcome to the thread :D

W1 - it's sounds like you've got a plan on some of the actions you can take at the moment too - go you :) I think that's all we can do when the disappointment comes - continue to look forward and find ways of bringing hope back into our lives with the next step. I think it's the best thing we can do, not as a cop-out, but seriously the best thing we can do to look after ourselves and our partners.No doubt it gets harder each time there's cause to regroup and start over again, so I tip my hat to you courageous people that have been through it multiple times - that's most everyone in here at the moment :)

Hey BW - isn't amazing how kids can pick up on the needs and/or concerns of other people? They really are astute little creatures. I'm so glad to hear you're looking up and beyond the incredibly crappy year you've had (not meaning to sound patronising, I promise!) and I'm wishing you so much luck and hope for your upcoming FET.

DH and I have decided to wait till March for the lap and run with an April cycle not sure why just being told april is it so thats the plan now.

Hello everyone - I haven't posted for awhile so I thought I'd drop in to say hello. I guess the failure of my first IVF cycle hit me harder than I thought, and it was easier to avoid coming online and talking about it.

So commiserations to those whose 2007 wasn't as they'd hoped, and congrats to those who had that longed-for BFP.

And hello to those newbies I've missed since I've been AWOL!

My news: I had an appointment at my clinic today - it's Day 22 of my cycle - and they took bloods. They just rang to tell me that I haven't ovulated yet - what's that about??? Will I ovulate? Isn't it kind of late in my cycle not to have ovulated yet? Maybe I don't ovulate every month? Does anyone have any info or advice?

Well.. I went for my blood test today this morning knowing it was all over.
Then I decided to go to a movie and thought I better deal with AF. Went to do so and virtually nothing there.... great....
so go to movie and clinic rings to say I have a level of 3. 2 is not pregnant and 3 is inconclusive but still not pregnant. Great. So they think AF will be on its way but cannot count it as yesterday therefore I cannot fall within 2007 safety net... damn it !
I dont know if it is at all possible that implantation happened yesterday and that is why I have a level of 3 but it all seems extremely unlikely to me.:wall: I have no idea what is going on. I was mentally all prepared for my negative adn AF and now neither - but nothing good either... Ill keep you posted...

I had no problems at all with the trigger. Numb the spot with some ice and do it as quick as possible!

Hey Vicki - nice to see you here again. We missed you. I really couldn't offer any advice that was certain about you not having Od - it would just be speculation. Perhaps I can just offer that maybe you're having a longer natural cycle given all the stims recently, as a way of your body adjusting again. What did your clinic say? Hopefully somewhere will come in the thread and give you a bit more info from their own experience. Happy New Year to you :)

I had the internal ultrasound and he is very happies with my follies-he measured them and said one was excellent and the other not bad. so i have to do another 3 days of gonal f then another ultrasound and then maybe the trigger.I have to say now though i'm really dreading the trigger...And in hindsight the ultrasound wasnt all that bad , it was interesting.....Still glad i didnt have breakfast or i wouldve chucked for sure...lol

P.s Happy new year....

Pollyanna, DW's trigger didn't hurt at all going in (used a bit of ice to numb the area beforehand) but it did sting a bit as I injected the contents. Nothing bad though. It varies person to person.
