Hi Girls,
re: the saftey net!! OMG!!!
I am definitely writing my letter tonight!! I cant believe it! We would definitely be screwed if it wasn't for the safety net. First cycle of IUI has cost $1650 (natural cycle) each cycle after this is going to cost us $393 because of the safety net. If the safety net is gone and we have to move forward with IVF then i just dont think we would be able to afford it for more than one cycle at $8k!!
Jaxi - sorry about your cancelled cycle :( dont know much about IVF yet but my FS said she would start me on atagonist cycle because of cystic ovaries and this reduces risk of OHSS?? :dunno:
Loops - are you doing IUI on natural cycle or stim?
Jodes xx

Hi Everyone,
Just heard from clinic, EPU Friday morning. T/F of Tues.
-
Hi Everyone
Jaxi - I'm so sorry that your cycle got cancelled, I hope your FS will have so much information now that your next cycle will be perfect!!!
Rob - Great News, good luck on your EPU!!
Mindhugs - Excellent fertilisation rates!!
Bella - Great going with the injections, hopefully you wont be stimming for long!
MellMell - Congrats on the not smoking, i know how hard it is!!
Jodes - Good luck with the IUI's. My friends fell pregnant on their 5th IUI. I think it is worth trying if you are patient enough. We did 11 IUI's before we gave up!
Big hugs to everyone else!!
Well Kim had her EPU today and out of 7 follies she got 6 eggs. The big one had an egg in it, but it wasnt really good. The scientist called it a brown blob really. So out of 6 we have 5 mature and ready for ICSI. We have to call tomorrow at 10am to find out fertilisation rates. We are really really pleased with the outcome. It could have been alot worse. So 7 follies down to 6 eggs down to 5 mature. Not bad going. Hopefully they will all fertilise and we have 5 embies tomorrow. The scientist said its not often that you get 100% fertilisation so we will be happy if 3 or 4 fertilise. Even happier with 5 tho!!! Kim is a little bit sore, but not sore enough for her to take panadol or anything.

Hi All,
Jaxi- Sorry to hear your cycle was cancelled all the best for your next one. Stay positive.
Mindhugs- Hope you little embryos are going strong. All the best for this cycle.
Jodes76- A big warm welcome to you, I have only been on here a short time and so far everyone has been fantastic, I wish I found this site earlier. All the best for IUI.
Bella55- Hope all is going well with your cycle.
Mellmell- Congrats on getting to the 1 week mark, keep it up, it is not easy to quit smoking with the stress of IVF, but stick with it, it does get easier.
CP77- Sorry to hear your not so great news but :crossfingers: for you.
Loops12- Hope all is going well for you.
xxRobxx That?s great that transfer will be 24th hopefully I will be just behind you. Will be thinking of you, hope all goes well.
Twomums- :crossfingers: for your little :egg:
AFM, I am in the monitoring stage for a natural FET. I have had BT's the past 2 mornings and have another one tomorrow morning. This is a little strange for me as my past 2 FET have only ever had 1 BT on day 11 and then on the embryo transfer. Clinic did not say much this afternoon other than to return in the morning. My levels from yesterdays test was LH=7 and the other reading was 700. Can anyone shed any light on these figures?
Sorry if I have missed anyone out. :hello:
:goodluck: to everyone on here.
-
hey guys, sorry i've been so slack with personals. will catch up soon.
AF has arrived in force, i hate her so much.
next step, wait and see. no more left in freezer for us.
good luck my friends

Hi Everyone,
I'm certain this issue of IVF and the Medicare Safety net will be all over the press shortly. There's no way it will slip under the radar!!!
JBM - fingers crossed for you.
Lani - good luck with this FET cycle. You start to feel like a pin cushion after a while. My FS told me that when we do our FET we can expect several blood tests to pinpoint ovulation.
Twomums - gosh that's all sounding great. Kim did really well. I always focus on getting big numbers. Fingers crossed for your little embies.
Jaxi - so glad to have you back. Sounds like your FS is making a good decision there. I think it's much better to have everything in good shape for a cycle.
Loops12 - I hope your AF comes soon (never thought I'd say that to anyone....wink).
Have a nice day everyone. Looks like rain up here in the Vegas.
-
JBM,
I am so sorry to hear that, sending a big

Hi Guys,
Just a short one. I am absolutely devastated at the news of the Safety Net. As it is WITH the SN, we don't know how we are going to afford IVF. Without it, I can kiss my dream of a family goodbye. It is just not fair, why do these things keep happening? We have NO other choice than IVF. I'm writing to all on the list and sending it out to all I know. Not that it would do any good...
Sorry guys, hate to be a downer but this has just ruined what was supposed to be a good day.
-
BrideofChucky - I know, it is devastating - I hope everyone realizes how important it is to express yourself to the elected officials. I read an article recently that people are used to venting online - in forums, comments to online newspapers all which has a purpose - BUT this has really been a disservice in terms of doing something that has impact because elected officials don't necessarily care about this - it's the direct letters and direct pleas that matter. I have never written a letter to a government official before, but this is just too important to say "well, others will do it" - the government needs to hear from as many people as possible. So glad you wrote a letter too.
The safety net issue could impact ANYONE seeking IVF (one of the things being considered is excluding IVF from the safety net full stop).
Please see:

PS - don't think that we can't make a difference - if you go to the above thread, you will see where Dusty recalls other cuts to IVF being considered a few years ago and they weren't adopted because of the uproar - PLEASE EVERYONE, WRITE A LETTER - IT TAKES 15 MINUTES
-
Just a quick one (I'm at work) Great news everybody!!!!!!! We had 4 out of 5 eggs fertilise!! We are going for a 3 day transfer on Saturday as the scientist explained that if we transfer two, it is better to freeze the embryos on day 3 as they defrost better than frozen blasties!! YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! We are so happy!!!
-
TwoMums - that's fantastic - congrats.
-
Congratulations TwoMums, all the best for a successful transfer on Sat and hope you have some extra to freeze. GOL for the TWW.
-
hi everyone...it's been quite a while since i stepped into this thread, but I am technically back, so I wanted to say hello...and wish all of you the best with your cycles.
we are trying naturally for a while, before resuming IVF if needs be.
twomums- great news!

Hi All
I am new to this. On day 5 of first IVF w ICSI cycle. Injections etc all going well so far....Anyone in here got any tips & advice? Been TTC for just over 2 years and getting quite jealous of all my pregnant friends!!
-
Hi Lea - Welcome. :welcome:
Nice to see another Perth girl! I am also on my first ICSI cycle and in TWW. Driving me insane. My only tip is to keep busy when you can because it tends to be all you can think about and sometimes it is nice to not think about it for 5 minutes!
-
Hi fellow TWW-ers and TTC friends. It's not too late to send your letter to the politicians about the possible elimination of the safety net for IVF - BUT IT MAY BE TOO LATE NEXT WEEK. All the information you need can be found in this thread: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1712142. In response to a suggestion, I just posted a form letter - just to make it easier for those who aren't sure where to start.
Fingers-crossed for all of us - wouldn't it be nice if we ended up sending this letter on behalf of future IVF-ers because we all ended up pregnant!
-
Twomums - that's amazing!!! Well done.
-
Good morning lovely ladies!
Twomums - wow congrats - great results you both must be very relieved!
Lea - Welcome! I'm day 7 today of my first IVF with ICSI cycle so 1 day ahead of you! I can sympathise with you re: the pregnant friends - my best friend is due on my birthday in May and beleive it or not i spent 3 hours yesterday shopping for baby gifts! I was on my own and did actually enjoy it but when i got in the car to drive home the tears fell!!! I mst add though she is a fantastic support to me.
Loops - has AF arrived yet????
Lani - hows the tracking going? GL for your FET xx
JBM- i know it's a bit late but was very sorry to hear AF arrived - hope your relaxing and taking care of yourself xx
Hello to everyone else - i hope everyone is staying relatively sane jabbing, sniffing, B/Ting, U/Sing, waiting..............!!
AFM - well today is day 7 so i have my first orgalutran tonight with my puregon - does anyone know can i just have one straight after the other? I'm feeling ok physically - a little bloated and intermittently very slight cramping but sometimes i think it's in my head! I have first U/S and B/T tom and i can't wait - i hate not knowing whats going on.
As for DH - he seems quite detached - he was very excited during and let down when the last down reg IUI didn't work so maybe this is his way of trying to deal with it? Anyway enough from me.... I'm off to get waxed fun, fun!
xxBella
