Hi Babytruj,
I don't think it is an Australian procedure to grow fertilized eggs into blastocyst. Some do some don't. It'a actually a controversial topic.
In my case I had the option to tranfer a 3 days or a blastocyst, our FS explained all pros and cons and we decided to go for the blastocyst stage. We think that if the fertilized egg is strong enough to go to blastocyst outside the uterus, there's more chance for a successful pregnancy.
But your FS in Singapure is correct, nothing has been proven...
Girls, I'm having the transfer tomorrow, I will be back with updates!!!

Hi Esperan
Thanks for that info. I guess it all depends on how many follies you get and what they do when they are in the lab! My husband has been speaking to his friend who is on IVF for their second, so is quite opinionated as they have been through a lot, and their FS in London is very specific on Blastocyst stage.
I need to read up more about the differences I think.
Good luck for tomorrow, holding fingers and toes for you!!

Best wishes for your transfer tomorrow Esperan! How exciting - it's another chance at your dream come true... my turn Monday! :confetti:

Hi Ladies, haven't been on BB for a while. Things have been a bit busy and I had a lovely weekend away just gone.... so I have had a bit of a catching up to do.
Jayejaye - so sorry to hear about your BFN. I hope you are doing ok and after your come back to find success and happiness. x
Theresep & Esperan - Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a fantastic day and GL with the FET.
Miss K - that's fantastic news! Sounds promising - GL
Mrs P - sorry to hear about your crappy week and cysts. I had a Lap done about 3 weeks ago to remove a cyst on one of my ovaries. There are a number of different types of cysts you can get but mine was blood filled, an endometriosis of the ovaries. My FS wanted to drain it before I started IVF. :crossfingers: yours clear up on their own.
Babytruj - if you fall pregnant you should talk to your Dr about your trip. You may only need to consider cancelling if you are going some where exotic, or doing something strenuous like skiing or hiking.
Hopes - :welcome: from me also. That's no good about the synarel.. I am not looking forward to that.
Janie - sorry I can't help you with your Q's but GL with your treatment and the thaw.
Loops - Do you know your schedule for your treatment yet? I am doing down regulation without the pill. Should start synarel next week and have an egg pick up around 29-31 July.
Juniper - hope you are doing well and hopefully joining some of us girls in July.
Emerald Star - where are you hiding.. is everything ok? Are your IVF plans still on track for July?
JBM - I hope you are feeling better and time is passing quickly. Nothing worse than waiting, wishing you lots of luck for when your time comes again.
AFM - I went to my clinic on Wed for a chat about the IVF process, dates etc. I am doing down regulation without the pill. Should start synarel next week. All going to plan I will have my egg pick up around 29-31 July.
It's getting late so sorry if I missed anyone. :goodluck: to everyone.

MITF - You are right, I will speak to the docs, We're only going to London for work and week in Turkey - where I can sit on the beach all day! Nothing strenuous about that! But I have also accepted that I may have to cancel, which means I won't be stressing whether we do IVF or wait - I know I am prepared to cancel the trip..
Good luck with the process, I may be joining you soon if I find an FS I like:)
-
I am so surprised...had bloods and ultrsound today...
AND
I have 20 follicles in each ovary...one as large as 15, others are 12,11 amd 10..
Go back on Monday for blood and ultrasounds!
Good luck to everybody wherever you are in your cycle!
-
Babytruj - thanks for your wishes. Goodluck doing a natural cycle and if that doesnt work finding a good FS - i hope everything works out for you soon :crossfingers:
Esperan - all the best tomorrow - will be thinking of you x
Mitf - Still not too sure of exact dates - find out more on the 8th - Im getting more excited now as it gets closer but still stressed about how we are going to pay for it. I think my egg pick up will be the 27th July so we will be very close.
Will be good to have someone going through the same emotions and stuff at the same time. All the best x
Kay Kay - hi. Thats sounds great - all the best.:D

Hi Girls! Thanks for all support, you've been a great group to share things with...
My transfer today was good! Actually was very uncomfortable... I couldn't wait to end cause my bladder was full and I just wanted to pee...
When we got in the clinic, we had a chat with the scientist and none of the 4 embies were a blastocyst, they were all developing, looking good, but they were just not there yet...
We ended up transferring 2 embryos!!!
Feels very good now, strange to think that we are so close to get a result! :stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy:
I'm going to check out the TWW thread :2ww:, but still checking your updates!!

Esperan, glad to hear it went well!! GL with the 2ww! :goodluck: :stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy:
Mitf, I'm doing fine thanks. At the moment I'm thinking I should give my body a break (after back to back fresh cycles) and wait for August. I'll see if I can handle that wait though... GL with your cycle. FX this is the one! :crossfingers:
Kay Kay, sounds like a lot of follies! Hope you're doing okay and not feeling too bloated.

Hello Lovely Ladies,
I am new to this thread and am soon to commence my jabs for my first IVF cycle.
Had my nurses appt today and got script for Lucrin and the rundown on how to inject myself. Will start Lucrin on Monday July 13th on 2nd last day of my NZ ski holiday (which wouldn't have been booked had we have known we would be doing IVF - oh the $$$$$!!!!). Maybe this is a good thing?!
Come back from NZ on 14th, have a blood test and all going well will start on the Puregon after this.
We went into the meeting feeling pretty positive. After TTC for the past year it seemed like a ray of hope. Then the appt where they run through all the bad possibilities! I understand they can't give false hope or unrealistic expectations to patients but what a downer.....
It also felt like a transaction/production line but as DH said, the nurse would have had to give that spiel to a whole lot of other people in the space of a day.
Met up with my Mum afterwards and when recounting everything to her, she kept saying "Don't be so negative". I told her, "I'm not! I am only telling you what they told me!".
I have done some price-shopping for Lucrin and so far prices range from $208-$280. Has anyone found it cheaper in Sydney?
I am doing acupuncture with a great practitioner and now need to work on some positive visualisations. I never used to believe in this but a few months ago I started to learn basic meditation and now try to listen to it on my iPod before bed every now and then. It's great for stress levels and for positive thinking.
Any other tips from you wise women would be most appreciated.
KayKay, we would have been there at the same time! Glad to hear everything is going great-guns.

Oh dear, i had a blood test this morning, and my progesterone levels are a bit low... what a bummer.... now have to take an extra pessary to try and raise my prog. levels. Hope it kicks in by Monday!

Hi Ladies,
I'm out of the TWW and back in here after FET#4 didn't work during the week. Hopefully heading for FET#5 in a fortnight :crossfingers:
Am hoping to speak with FS about tests to check there's no concerns about implantation. My biggest fear is having another four FETs before someone decides to check on that. We're very lucky though - have 10 frosties, after a total of 15 embryos at EPU back in January. Had some good results with a stim cycle and ICSI, although I had some OHSS afterwards.
Am a bit low at the moment, feeling like I'll be graduating to the LTAC threads before I ever graduate to the Pregnancy Threads. Trying to stay positive.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi Persephone - I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time right now.. I hope you won't have to wait much longer.. I just wanted to ask at what day did your clinic freeze your Embies and I only ask because of your concern about implantation.. If they are frozen before day 5 I think that the percentage rate of sucess per cycle is less although the overall take home rate for a baby is the same it can just take more cycles IYKWIM... I had 14 embryos from 15 eggs and only 4 went to a day 5 blast stage although 1 made it to day 5 the lab could see that it didn't have what it takes to be a viable PG and culled it.. And this was considered by my clinic as a good result.. Day 5 and Day 3 transfers are a personal choice as I know people who believe that they are better off back in your body and others (like me) would rather see how many I have at Day 5 but know that they have what it takes to be a PG.. I don't know if that makes much sense or if that helps you... I really hope I haven't upset you either.. It only takes 1 and the next 1 could be it.. I really hope it is... I just wanted to mention it and maybe ask your FS if they see lack of results as a problem with implantation.. It's all about information isn't it.. Goodluck hun..
Good luck everyone else.. I'm thinking of you all..

Thank LilMiss,
I've been wondering the same thing myself. All our embryos are Day 3. FS has never talked about trying to get them to go to Day 5, although I'm hoping to have that conversation with him on Monday. It would certainly 'cull' any not-so-good embryos but I don't know whether they can do it now that they're all frozen - if they thaw one and it dies 36 hours later, it's too late to thaw another and we'd have to wait another month - is that right?
Thanks for your help!
-
Persephone, sorry to hear that your FET wasn't successful - I haven't been there yet but I understand the disappointment from TTC without AC:hug:
lilmisshavachat makes a really good point. It was explained to me in great detail only yesterday and I know that each clinic and FS will give you their own spin on what is best but my clinic is very strongly pro-blastocyst (if there's any such thing!).
I was told (please don't quote - just reiterating info from FS and clinic) that a decent amount of embryos can survive to day 2-3. If it gets to day 5 and becomes a blastocyst, there is a much higher chance that it is chromosomally OK and can progress to through to a healthy pregnancy.
The most important thing is that you have a voice and get answers to your questions. Make sure you are heard. If there is one thing I have learnt from this TTC journey so far, it's that there is no such thing as a stupid question - they've heard them all before.

Hi again ladies - sorry you are back in here persephone, you are in our thoughts - just wanted to share my 1st ivf experience - i had 9 eggs, 4 mature, these 4 all fertilised, but only 2 kept growing. These 2 both went to 5 day blasto stage - 1 was transferred, and the other frozen - i didn't ask my FS much as to why he likes them to grow to blasto. The scientist was really pleased with the quality, so i was gutted when it failed to implant.... which leads me to your next point re. implantation tests - i talked to my FS and pretty much told him (he didn't think it necessary at this point) that i wanted some tests done, as it is no point having several failed transfers and then test and find an issue. Well, at least i have some peace of mind, as there was nothing found. Yes, it ended up costing about $150 after medicare refunds, but i wanted to know one way or another. I think it best to eliminate possibilities if you can. Hope that may help in some way.
I have another q's to put out - do most women, having either a full egg collection cycle or a frozen egg transfer cycle use progesterone pessaries? My FS did not have me use progesterone pessaries for my 1st cycle, but this time he has - would it be because this time i'm doing FET as opposed to an egg collection etc??
Warm wishes to all - kaykay GL for monday - wow 20 in each ovary!!
:goodluck:
-
Hi Teresep,
Thanks for sharing - it's good to hear others stories so I can be more informed.
I was on luteal support after my stim cycle, but haven't had any pessaries for my FETs. Apparently not having the pessaries can be unusual. My progesterone has been checked out and is all good though. I think sometimes FS puts you on prog support just in case.
Does this mean you're in the TWW? When do you test? All the best - :crossfingers:
-
Hi persephone - not in the tww yet..... transfer due monday :crossfingers: i had better now get to bed! Goodnight:asleep:
