Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception - September/October 2008

Hi there

I hope I am not intruding, I am new to this site although not new to IVF. I am part way through my third cycle having had the egg pick up last Thurday. I had a massive 11 eggs, so was very excited as this was double my previous attempts.

My high was a little deflated after getting the call on Friday to say only 4 have fertilised so I am a little nervous what day three (Sunday) will bring.... hopefully the cull will not continue and these four will fight to see me through to Blastocyst:pray:!!!

I am cheered up to read so many positive stories in this thread so hopefully the positive will rub off.......Who would have hought it could be this hard. Oh well what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!!;)

OH WOW THERE IS ALOT OF US IN HERE I WISH I COULD SAY THAT WAS A GOOD THING BUT IT WOULD BE BETTER IF WE WERE ALL IN THE BFP CLUB OH WELL WE WILL GET THERE ONE DAY.
WELL THIS IS MY ATTEMPT TO DO PERSONALS IF I MISS ANYONE I AM TRUELY SORRY.

wow girls, you are little chatterboxes this month! can barely keep up!

millymoo, know exactly how you feel, my 20 eggies only became 3 embies but keep positive, you've just gotta have faith that it will work out right

AFM, sorry if i confused anyone and havent been back on for ages to correct, no EPU for me this month, just going for frostie transfer tomorrow!! yahoo!! Only 1 of my 3 embies looks like its gonna make the grade, yesterday there was 1 9 cell, 1 at 3 and 1 at 2 cell... keep telling myself that this is my month, and that little ones gonna be a fighter. Been gettng a lot more prepared this month, acupuncture and massage, booked in for before and after ET as well to make doubly sure - any thing to give the little one more of a chance i reckon! :dance:

so looks like i'll be in TWW with a few of you girls, will try not to go too mad!!:pink-babydust::stickyvibesboy: DH is taking me away next weekend so I'm trying very hard not to stress over anything.. v. hard to do at work right now :juggling:

Just thought I would quickly poppin and let you know how I went yesturday, I now have 1 on board yah!! I had 3 embies and 2 didn't serve. So bring on the 2 weeks, Friday 17th is the big test day.

Wishingbaby - I can't believe they closed! My heart is wishing for good signs for you.

AFM - I need some help.
In the last week of my tww, last IVF cycle, I started developing severe chest pains that basically felt like someone was sitting on my chest. I could breathe through it, but I felt clammy and really unwell and sometimese these pains lasted up to four hours. The first time I got them, I saw my FS straight away who thought I have atypical type of OHSS and sent me to a OHSS specialist. I couldn't see him until the next day and by then, the pain had disappeared. He thought I had very mild hyperstimulation but not concerning. The next day, I had another attack of chest pains and I called the QFG>FS>Specialist who told me it was most likely a virus. In fact, another lady was admitted to hospital last night with something similar but by this morning, she was fine and released. After I got the BFN, the pains went away but I started getting heartburn (I've never had hearburn before so I've been taking Mylanta almost every day). Now, I'm not sure if it is heartburn?
Anyway - on Friday (Day 25 of a natural cycle - no drugs) I collapsed at work with these chest pains again and I was so embarrassed for this to happen in front of my team. An ambulance took me to the hospital where they eliminated a heart attack (good news) and a blod clot (also good news) and hearburn, also did a pregnancy test, which they happily told me was negative (not so good news) so they gave me morphine which eliminated the pain and they sent me home undiagnosed. My FS is away on holidays so I'm going to see my GP (who doesn't really understand the IVF/Drug issues) and was wondering if anyone has or knows of anyone who has had similar complications? I can't help but feel this is somewhat IVF related???? Both times have been in week 4 of my cycle so perhaps is progesterone related???

SO SORRY for the lack of personals. Am so tired tonight.

AFM- woke up at 6.30am today to help DH get ready for his work trip. Took him to the train station, then went for a walk on the beach...so beautiful, before heading to work for the day.
BT and scan in the morning to see how many eggs I am brewing and when pickup will be. Am starting to get uncomfortable and sore. I always feel like I've got a bad bladder infection about a week into gonal. Started orgalutran yesterday..nasty little one that is!!!

I had a call this morning to say that one of my embies woke up so I now have five at day three..... unfortunately there quality is not exactly great but fingers crossed they will keep on multiplying and show me what they are made of!!!:pray:

I swear this 5 days while they are incubating is the worst of the two week wait. But It has certainly given me a bit more hope to hear all of our stories.

AFM - had accupuncture on Friday which was nice. Didn't feel heaps different after it but was nice to lie in a quiet room for 1 hour! I'm going again after pick up and then before and after transfer. DH thinks it's a waste of money but oh well - tough biccies to him.

Ruth08 - tough biccies indeed! If it does nothing else, it relaxes you right? Plus there are now scientific studies showing the increased success with IVF and acu. So go for it. I had it the other day pre and post transfer, it was lovely to lie there imagining it doing me good!

Milliemoo - welcome! Good luck for transfer on Tuesday! Try not to worry, the best ones that make it to transfer or the freezer are the best ones that will give you the best chance.

Hey Bel - I think the feeling of a bladder infection is from the 'dryness' down there???? Not very comfortable, hope iy improves.

Azzenrae - congrats on your little embie onboard. It's quite bizarre to think that there is a little potential person in there. :pray: that it snuggles in well. See you over in the TWW thread!

Brooke - GL with your transfer, see you in the TWW as well!

Hi redlady, Smithy, Jodie, wishingbaby, and sorry to everyone I have missed.

AFM: Patiently waiting with little embie on board. Unfortunately, they were only able to freeze one hatching blastocyst, the other 5 didn't make it. I felt very sad all day yesterday, but then realised that they are only using the ones that will give you a good chance so I feel better now.

hi everyone...there are so many of you in here at the moment and I just wanted to let you know I am still checking in to see how you are all going and wish you all the best with your pill-popping, injecting, sniffing, BTs, scans, EPUs and transfers!! I hope you are all drawing closer and closer to your BFP. :D
