N2L, TSH has only gone up to 2.5 (was 1.3 in February 2012 and 1.2 in February 2013) and anti-TPO is only 64 (was 63 in Feb 2012), which is why I expect the GP won't want to treat it. A lot of specialists say the optimal TSH for TTC is supposed to be 1-2, but the GPs don't generally share that belief. I don't have the T3 and T4 numbers yet (will get them when I see the GP). I'm also iron and vitamin D deficient (in spite of taking 2000iu vit D daily), plus other symptoms of hypothyroidism (eg difficulty losing weight, constant fatigue, constipation, mild depression, etc, etc, etc)...

So sorry to hear juniper that you and your dh have another hurdle to get across. I hope your gp will give you the necessary meds and your acupuncturist can assist in the cause and symptoms. I can attest to a gluten free lifestyle, while challenging initially, health and energy wise it has made a large difference to our family, and while it has not improved all fertility related issues, it has assisted in day to day well being.

Juniper, I'm sorry there's yet another obsticle, but perhaps it's something that can be looked into and fixed?
Mrs O'M, on the day of my very first transfer, they told me that out of 7 embryos, only one was suitable for transfer and none were suitable for freezing. I was devastated, but called a few days later to double check and they told me one was frozen, and apparently it didn't look crash hot on the day of my transfer but over night it just went crazy and caught up and divided beautifully and they managed to freeze it. The lazy little bugger of embryo is currently having a lovely bath. So you never know hun! And it just takes one anyway hun, let's hope this one is IT!!!!!

Juniper I'm sorry there's another drama to make ttc difficult. It really makes DD even more of a miracle. I am glad you have her already x
AFM. I'm out in Gippsland for the night and of course on doing a seratec this morning it looks like I have surged. of course it would happen when I am four hours away from a clinic. And three hours way from an open pathology. Typical. Anyhoo... Now we have to fit in a blood test as well as drive home via target to exchange part of my sisters baby shower present before braving the baby shower. Sigh. Luckily Casey Superclinic does blood tests on a Sunday so I don't have to drive all the way into the city.

Thanks, ladies. It is something that can be treated, but the GP is unlikely to treat it at this time because she will consider the TSH to be within normal range. The GP considers 0.4-4 to be normal, whereas 1-2 is what the specialists recommend for TTC. I'm guessing my levels indicate the early stages of the disease, so I'll try to argue that it would be better to treat it early rather than waiting until it's severe and has done more damage to my thyroid. If that doesn't work, I'll make an appt with the FS and talk to him about it. From what I've read, pg can trigger thyroid issues and I didn't have the same symptoms before I was pg with DD, so it's likely I either developed it after her birth or just had the very beginning of it (ie not bad enough to cause problems). Given my family history (my maternal grandmother had lots of thyroid issues and eventually developed thyroid cancer and my mum is currently having investigations done because her thyroid is enlarged), I was always likely to have problems at some point, so this isn't a surprise just frustrating if I can't get it properly managed.

Big hugs juniper xo I hope you can get someone to listen to you! My fertility naturopath at Sharkeys is treating for it even if your borderline.
Which I am.
She has me on chromium plus 2x a day and 3 selenium drops 1x daily.
It's helped me feel better as far as depression / fatigue is concerned.
Xo

Hey guys,
Quick question on behalf of my bested friend in the world. I hope this is the right place to post? I see all the gurus are in here so fingers crossed.
Unfortunately her day 6 blastie transfer was a bfn:(
Can I ask what is AMH? I never got tested for this so it's a never area for me and one I know absolutely NOTHING about! Apparently her AMH is 3 (although I originally thought she said 15) - either way she says it's bad. What is AMH and what is normal versus 'bad'?
Also can anyone tell me about egg quality? Her DH husband is apparently perfect! She only got one egg from her last cycle and her cycle before that was cancelled - no eggies. Can you test for egg quality? If so how do they do this? Her mum started menopause at 35 - she will be 37 in January. I'm considering offering to be an egg donor - but I need to understand if her eggs are the issue?
Also - her FS has talked about putting her on growth hormones and tricking her body into menopause for 3 months in the hope of getting more eggs when they bring her out of menopause? Again I didn't know this was possible? Hoe does this work? Has anyone done it? Xxx

Update. okay my bestie has an AMH of 3. She says low is bad:(
Would this affect egg quality?
Thanks guys... Xx

TTlucky AMH stands for anti-mullerian hormone and it checks your egg reserve.
My fs uses dhea and growth hormone for low amh to improve egg quality of what's left. My friend has amh 4 and she's 38 and she's considered low so has done the dhea growth hormone and our fs believes in high fsh dose during stim to get as many eggs as possible. Good luck to your friend hope she has a good outcome :)

TTL, her eggs are likely an issue considering the low AMH and age together, but it's still possible to get a good egg in those circumstances. That said, she'll likely get a BFP more quickly and have a lower risk of chromosomal abnormalities (eg Down syndrome) if she uses donor eggs. It's very generous of you to offer your eggs, but be aware that she may not be ready to take that step yet and don't take it personally if that's the case.
