Kass I also agree with the other. I would have thought the choice to put back 2 is yours as well. Some people would prefer an instant family rather than having to possible cycle again again and again.
I'm sick of docts treating us all the same. Yes there might be odds and things that happen in certain circumstances or age groups etc. But there are people who are also out side the norm when it comes to stats etc. Arghhhhhh. Its your money you should have a say.
ATm, Day 1 of AF. Start jabbing on Monday and scan on the 8th.

Ladies just wanted to see if anyone knows how long my results should take to come in? i had my blood taken 2 weeks and 2 days ago, the nurse said she would call with the results once they were all in but im still waiting!!!! I just want that part over and done with but its dragging on, the nurse said they can take a while but i didn't think this long. I had the basic blood tests they do for further investigation so cant remember all of them but was ones like lupus and ceoliac disease. Im just frustrated beacuse we have to wait till the 18th oct the day after we come back from fiji to find out my DH's DNA frag results (which is already a huge stress on our shoulders) and now im finding my self waiting and waiting for blood results. xx
-
Oneday I had a heap of tests done and they took about 4 weeks to come through. It all depends on the type of tests you did. Maybe just give them a call to find out at least then you can go on holidays and relax
Sorry ladies haven't been in here in a while have just tried to focus on my next cycle and just take some time out. I'm due to ovulate any day now so my last FET will be some time next week. I also cant type much as I tore my ligaments in my right arm this week and cant take anything to help the healing cause I'm about to transfer.

Just reporting in -AF arrived last night, about time, Springlola you must have helped her come, so THANKS!
No time for persies but showereing babydust over everyone, have a great weekend xxxx

Thanks ladies. I have no intention of following fs's advice on this one, it just doesn't make any sense! Besides which if I thawed more than one and then had to let some 'succumb' (clinics term - don't like it personally - just a nice way to say 'die') I don't think I'd be able to get past the fact that one of them could have been the one.
Stupid advice.
Trishy - I wish I had the option to have two back. I can't understand why it's not allowed here when other countries (hello octomum) regularly use 3 or 4 as standard. Not that I want to risk triplets or more, but twins I'd be ok with.
Oneday - sorry I don't know about the tests - like Terry said, calling is probably the best option. When are you off? Enjoy your holiday!
Terry - ouch! fx for your transfer
Trishy - hope the next couple of weeks go well!

Im back!
Hi lovely ladies
Im back from the show and been busy last couple of days so I havent been on here for ages it seems. Ive tried catching up but now struggling to know what to write to people as I dont have much time
True and Oneday ~ Congrats on your anniversaries!! Hope you were or are spoilt xo
Saffy ~ sorry for your BFN and I hope you get success with your next IVF cycle.
fatgirlslim ~ Hope you are PG. If not you have the IVF to go on with so either way I think its exciting, GL and :crossfingers:
Kass ~ that sounds pretty rude of your FS! I hope you can get a better second opinion hun.
Trishy ~ Looks like you and I will be undergoing it all at the same time. Wishing you all the best hun!
Ill catch up more with everyone over the next few day but sending out lots of :bluedust::stickyvibesgirl:
AFM ~ start jabbing tonight, scan next Friday and then its all go! Im a bit :( at the moment though, DH and I are having a few problems and I think we are both a bit depressed at the moment with all the TTC stuff. Packed to the Rafters didnt help. I didnt see it but it made DH very upset and he had to walk out of the room from our friends place where it was on. When they got the BFN! Im excited that we are at the point of it all again but at the same time not feeling super confident and positive. I really need to get out of this attitude as its not going to help. Work is really stressing me lately too and not helping anything. Sorry for the rant.
Good luck everyone! Hugs xoxo

Hey ladies, i called the nurse and she said the chromosone ones can take 4 weeks to come back (i wish i was told this in the first place) so now we might not get the results till we come back from fiji! Iv got a feeling there might be something wrong with the results that are back :( because the nurse knows how stressed i am about getting the results so why not tell me the results of the ones that are back? Im prob reading way to far into it hey? silly me! i just want the results so we can move towards the next step, whet ever it may be.
Kass we leave for Fiji on the 11th october but im on hols as of today thank god!!! iv never needed a break from work more then at this point in my life! not only work is stressful but i have alot going on with some of the other ladies that work there.
Loops, what i read above sounds the same as my story a month ago! Me and my DH hit a real low too, we were both really down about IVF and money but we found a way through it. I find the best thing is distraction and to be honest i think Fiji is the best thing for us at the moment, we both need a break from it all, it does take a huge toll on us personally and our relationships so dont be hard on your self because it is only normal. About packed to the rafters, i watched that episode and thought how pathetic it was! iv never watched it before but i really didnt like it lol and to be honest i was waiting for them to be pg first go because the world usually is so oblivious to what the world is really like.
I hope everyone else is doing well xxxx

HelllOOOOoooOOoOoo!
Well, this morning I called Repromed.. this no AF thing was doing my head in. Got a call back from the nurse, who asked me to come in for a blood test to see where I am at with everything... I had a joke with her and said "knowing my luck, tomorrow morning I'll get my period." WELL... I actually hung up the phone and went to the bathroom - and ha! There it was.
SO... looks like Jabbing starts for me tomorrow!!
Loops and Trishy - looks like I'm a day after you guys!! here's to a few BFPs!!
Kass - mean, mean, mean :( Maybe he missed his calling? Maybe he should have been a GP? I think that fertility specialists HAVE to have some heart and empathy... sounds like he just doesn't get it :( BIG HUG!
Repromed have a 'one embryo transfer policy' - but they apparently, let you transfer what you want/need to. The policy is that they STRONGLY recommend one transfer. We have considered putting two embryos back - especially because we didn't have ANY left to freeze last time... and I wonder how much better of a chance those little embies had where they belong...?? I am worried about the complications of tferring two if they both take.. plus, I am already quite overweight so wondering how I'd cope and whether I am being selfish... so many questions.
Sorry if I've missed anyone xxx

Oneday, it seems that the test are really on your mind. Can you ring the FS and ask for the results that are back, explain your going away and you would like to know to put your mind at ease.
Terry your arm sounds quite sore, does ice or heat packs help
staffy yay on AF arrive, when you want to start things she seems to turn up late
Kass does your clinic have a policy for only one transfer?
Loops its such a roller coaster. Hope hubby and you can find some time to relax. Even if it is as small as giving each other a massage or better still going together for someone to give you both one.
fatgirlslim there are a few of us now that will be cycling around the same time. Happy jabbing
ATM I have an upset stomach that I got from eatting someing yesterday and the start of a cold. Great timing body.
-
Trishy - they have a policy of only one unless you're over 35 - I was actually under the impression this was a legal thing as well, so I'm interested that yours fatgirlslim is different. After 6 failures I really want to up my odds!
Fatgirlslim, Trishy, Loops - glad you're all moving on! Are you jabbing too now Saffy or having a break?
Trishy - hope you're feeling better quickly. At least it's a weekend - hope you're able to rest up!
Loops - hope you're both going ok
Oneday - hope you enjoy this week before you go. I'm on holidays too and I'm so glad to not be at work!
Sorry if I missed anyone - enjoy the weekend!
-
Hey all...
Kass - my FS says that they have a 'one transfer policy' if you're under 35 - but - actually they will transfer what you ask. They can only advise you on what they believe is the 'right' thing to do - and really stress that multiple pregnancy is 'undesirable'. I specifically asked the question before this cycle - and am still considering putting 2 back. Definitely NOT a legal thing... at least not in SA? Can't imagine it being different elsewhere?
Loops, Saffy, Trishy, Springlola... and anyone I've missed... HOWS THINGS?? :)
I spoke with the nurse today. I start on 200 dose of Puregon tonight - and start on Orgalutran on the 7th - first scan on the 8th. The reason my scan is booked early is because my last cycle went on and on and on... and ON... for about 4-5 weeks on Gonal-F - so they want to be able to up my dose early if I am not responding. So... when things start happening... they happen fast... which is good... bring it on.. I am impatient... fast forward 4 weeks I say!
Hope y'all doing well :P

Hi everyone
This is my first time on this thread (3rd round of ivf/icsi though) AF came today so start my first atagonist cycle Sunday 3/10 - fatslimgirl I am on the same meds and dose as you! Also after the first 2 failed attempts FS suggested transferring 2 blasts if we get them (each previous cycle I get lots of eggs but poor quality then the numbers drop off and by 5 day transfer I am lucky to have 1 or 2 blasts) - I never really wanted twins but after all this I am now ready to take my chances.
-
thanks fatgirlslim I'll definitely have to look into that further
hi nicoleh - good luck with this one!
-
Kass: I know alot of fs's perfer to only put one in even if they don't mind an instant family because of the risks that you are put under when carrying multiples if something goes wrong it can be life threatening but at the end of the day if you want to put two back then it should be your choice.
Loops: hugs chick I think you both need to sit down and just have a good long talk and be there for eachother. hugs again I'm here if u need
just a quick afm: am waiting and waiting af due on friday feeling a little emotional and tired so looks like she's coming and then fet woohoo by for now babydust everyone hugs
-
Hey Ladies,
Kass - you've started us all off now! I can understand them not wanting to put two back in, for all the reasons other people have already said, but I can't understand him wanting to thaw and possibly waste some. My clinic thaw one the day before transfer (day 5 I guess) and watch it and if it dies or doesn't look good they thaw another one (if there are any of course) and transfer it. They don't get to watch the second one for as long though, but at least it's better than wasting them.
Sorry, i don't have time for persies, I have the most horrible pain in my belly from my hysteroscopy and biopsy on Friday. I think it must be from the gas they pump in there. Ouch!!
More next time!

Hi Ladies,
Sorry went MIA for a while, had a fairly horrible weekend. My SIL that we found out was PG 2 weeks ago MC twins. So sad for her, its her 2nd PG but Husband just left for Iraq with the Army and she's up north. She's booked for a D&C today.
For me and DH its bought back alot of feelings I dont think we've delt with..DH was going to fly up for her, but MIL went straight up.
AF Arrived with avengance on Friday, which I'm pretty happy about, thought I might've been going into early menopause or something :D nice to know my body still wants to be 'normal'....
Kaybee: So sorry your feeling the effects of the biopsy.
Nicoleh: Welcome, hope your stay is quick, in the nicest possible way :D
Fatgirlslim: Good luck with the next cycle, this is the one for sure. I'm going to start taking some Royal Jelly, hopefully this will give me the best chance for good eggs..if I can get some LOL
Oneday: I would ask them I'm sure they'd understand you wanting to enjoy your holiday.
Saffy: No dramas anytime LOL:clap:
Loops: So jealous of you going to the show, my fondest memories are of Melbourne and Sydney Royals with my Great Uncle showing Angus cattle and us all sleeping in the lockers..the good old days. We take horses sometimes, but its getting a bit ridiculs with the price of it now.
So hope you and DH can spend some quality time to heal each other..
Sorry to anyone I've missed Struggling to catch up

spring: so sorry to hear about your SIL
Had a bit of a shock phone call from my sister yesterday (not the youngest that has two kids now this is the sister next down from me) she was in tears when she told me that she was pregnant she was so scared to tell me and had put it off for two weeks (when she found out) I am really happy for her but at the same time it still makes me think when is it going to be our bloody turn she's 8 weeks and she's due may 26th so a bit rattled by it and trying to absorb the info bring on the FET I say then my sis and I ca share our pregnancies together if the fet works...so I'm going to be an aunty for the fourth time
-
Springlola - sorry to hear about your sil
True - that's tough - like you say, hopefully this one will be it and you can be in it together! I've had a couple of surprises this weekend as well - trying to shake myself out of it.
Kaybee - my clinic does the same thing usually. They've just decided to give me a new 'option' :wall: Hope you're feeling better today!
Well I'm starting my health blitz today. Scary. I decided to rejoin the gym as well as change the diet, but it's just occurred to me that I maxed out the credit card paying my ivf bills - still waiting on medicare to come through. Bummer! Guess I have to stick to walking for a while
