minniemouse - I also get lower back pain. So bad I have to find the perfect position to sleep. I have noticed it more and more the more cycles I have had with clomid. It seems my back is a tell tale sign. It reacts to clomid, O and AF! Maybe when I have no pain I may have a BFP?!
williever: thats interesting your back pain seems to be getting worse with each cycle, im sorry you get back pain too, its awful !!

WillI - sorry to hear about the back pain. I noticed my headaches got worse with clomid. We are cycle buddies, let's hope belly buddies too!
AFM, I decided to do a CD12 scan anyway, tomorrow. Will trigger again. Feeling strangely relaxed this month :).

OMG the headaches are bad this time around (think jack-hammer drill). Generally not good, but I have felt a lot more action in the ovaries so hopefully the strong reaction is a good sign? Air con is on right now as hot flushes are still going....... tired, but hopeful x

I am kinda hoping for more than 1 mature follie tomorrow. Don't necessarily want twins, but increasing our chances of a bfp would be great.
Is anyone taking clomid unmonitored? We are going overseas in Feb and won't be able to have any BTs, Scans etc, was hoping to just take the clomid and cross my fingers.

Yep me. My fs just told me to take 6 cycles and see how I go. Is this not normal?
I wouldnt say that its not normal.. My FS told me it depends on certain things.. Like I am been monitored because there are twins on either side of the family, and the FS would prefer me to have one healthy baby instead of multiples. And she also told me that they are monitoring to see if I am on the right doseage, the right days to take it, to see if any follies are there or weather or not my PCOS is preventing it...
You could always ring and ask your FS if you are worried...

I am not being monitored. I am ovulating every month though. I was thinking I may ask to be monitored though because the thought of twins scares the crap out of me! My FS has me on 3 more cycles at 50mg, then we will discuss it further.
I think my FS is just monitoring me because it earns him $$$....

no monitoring here either (except day 21 blood test), i wish i was more closely monitored so i didn't have to guess when ovulation is going to be !
Monitoring is expensive. The appointment is $70 (35 back), ultrasound is $70 (35 back) and the trigger is $90 (nothing back). So all up each month I am out the cost of the clomid ($15) plus the 160 for monitoring... 175 a cycle.
I also had to pay a management fee / planning fee when we first organised our fertility plan.
Am I paying too much? Maybe I need a new FS.
Hmmm That does seem like a lot! BUT everyone is different. I feel you have to trust they know what they are doing. Maybe research them a little. That's what I did.......I am wierd I have to research every little detail before I feel happy about anything! I do hope that all FS's are doing the right thing by their patients, but maybe I'm just a hippy trusting everyone?!
My appointments are double that, but she tends to tell a lot over the phone so that's good.
I know that when/if we start ivf all the charges will begin, but I am completly happy with the team so I have no worries there.
I am considering asking for a repeat script of clomid and then disappearing for a few months, is that irresponsible? Unsure... I know there are many women who take it unmonitored, I feel like the monitoring is unneccessary, so long as it is properly prescribed. Oh well, something for me to chew on :).

My FS charges $190 and i get $60 back and thats for a 5min consultation. Its so hard to get a hold of her and i can NEVER talk to her on the phone! I might need to find a new one =(

Woah! I'm not paying anything for my monitoring. I'm having BTs and then I have an ultrasound and if I get the trigger that's all I have to pay for which is $44.:
hhhmmm there is probably no reason you have to be monitored, the risk of multiples is fairly small (although a friend had twins on clomid), you basically need to take the tablets, do lots of bding at the right time & hope for the best. you could go to your gp & get a pathology form for day 21 progesterone from them so you at least know you are ovulating
Maruschke - I am pretty cautious naturally.....Maybe ask them why they feel the need to monitor you. They may have a good reason. If not, then change the plan! It's sad to think that some doctors use this difficult time to make money.......
My old doc did, but I could just smell it a mile away so made changes.
Wow I am glad I went for the scan. About CD12, lining 8mm, and THREE mature (20mm+) follies. He sent me away without a trigger, and with a stash of condoms. Apparantly we can try on our own if we want but he is advising against it. D'oh! Makes me reconsidering taking it unmonitored, I was only on 50mg CD2-6. Next (monitored) cycle I am going down to 25. Darn PCOS.
Maruschke - Even though you have been advised not to BD, Im glad that the Clomid is working.. It gives me so much hope! And I guess now your kinda glad for the monitoring :)
Glad you have hope :hug: don't give up. Clomid has worked for so many with with ovulation issues, it is wonderful what modern medicine can do now. We also have borderline swimmer issues, so onto IUI when we get back from our holiday in Feb.:
I have PCOS as well.. Good luck with the IUI! I hope you get a BFP before then though!!!
Thanks, I am seriously considering going it on our own this cycle and just taking what we are given. Or am I crazy? Wondering if that strong primal urge to reproduce isn't stopping me from thinking clearly...

Maruschke!!! Did you say you were on 50 mg and CD 2-6, and now your cd 12? Is this your first of second round?
I also am tempted to try. I figure I got here because my odds are just lower than others, so the risk of multiples is tiny.:
I took 50 mg, CD2-6, and I have PCOS. I haven't taken anything else. I did take the same last cycle and the FS said there is some kind of accumulation effect of clomid? Last cycle I had one mature and one borderline follie.

I always know when i ovulate because i have no pain at all and then BANG! on CD18 it kills me!
:oI took the same mcg on the same days and on cd13 AND ovulating today for sure!!!! Hmm gives you food for thought doesn't it!:o
So bloated! I absolutely know the clomid has had an effect this month. I just feel so full and bloated :sick:

You are 2 days ahead of me in you cycle.. Did you have BTs on previous days?
