Hummingbird, what are the pregnyl injections suppose to do? Are you on anything else as well?
Hi Kel
I've been told it contains HCG which tells ur body it's pregnant, I've looked it up and this can explain better than me...
" So doing the pregnyl injections during the luteal phase is to trick your body to think you're pregnant, hence triggering the corpus luteums (the shells of the follicles where the eggs were released from) in the ovaries to make progesterone as if you're pregnant."
The only downside is that you can't do a hpt as it will be positive, so I will probably wait till the day of my BT as ill be at work and would rather have a clue before getting that call, the nurse said I should get AF on Sunday but pregnyl often delays AF so all I can do is hope I forget AF and get a + blood test!
Thanks!! It is crazy all the different things we go through, I often get really upset as I think getting pregnant and being a mum is meant to be the most natural thing a woman can do. Doing IVF is so clinical but I desperately want a child so you just do what you have to do I guess. :). Being on here has helped a lot though! I want to do a HPT but I don't want to at the same time
kel82 when can you start poas? good luck FX
Hummingbird Thank You, good luck with waiting around calmly to poas i have 2 days till i start and i'm counting down but then i'm a poas addict i have just ordered 80 and
found 7 so i have lots of sticks to pee on lol. Your right i blame the pregnyl too not my chocolate addiction for my weight gain lol. Everyone has a different thought on
what is right or wrong but 1 or 2 wont hurt i went to america when i had just fallen pg with ds2 and went to vegas ( trip was planned before i found out i was pg) and
my dr told my a few drinks wont hurt but its completly up to you hope you have a good time.
afm no symptoms really just counting down to start poas which i will start on sunday
Hi rai, I am not sure when exactly I can do a test but I don't do them as I am scared of the result, as much as I would love to know I am petrified! :(
kel82 i know how you feel but i just assume its going to be negative because that's the result i always get since ttc #4 it's driving me insane surely ttc should not
be this b***** hard. It took 3.5 years with ds3 i dont think i could handle ttc for that long again its already been 12 months this time it's just so depressing.
Hope you dont have to wait much longer for your BFP xxx
Hi rai, wow that is a long time, you have done so well to keep going cycle after cycle and not give up but I suppose it is not something you can't give up on. I need this cycle to work more than ever as we have no frosties left, we had 10 collected, 6 fertilised, but only three transfers the others didn't survive the thaw. It is not that we can't physically harvest again we just can't afford $8000 again to do a full stim cycle :(
kel82 i'm keeping everything crossed you get your BFP this cycle, I completly understand i would love to do icsi but we just cant afford it that is why i'm doing iui's
which from what i understand does not have a high rate of success but then i think its the luck of the draw as someone we know got pg there first iui cycle. Really hoping you
get your BFP xxxx
How does an iui work? I am hoping there is something else they can do for us if this one doesn't work.
kel82 i will try to explain but i'm sure there is someone on here that can give you a better understanding but i will try. You can either do clomid or injectables it just depends on
you i respond really well to clomid i just dont fall pg on it so i have so far had 2 or 3 cycles of clomid then this is my 2nd or 3rd cycle of injectables i have heard injectables work
better but i think that just depends on you and your circumstances. Once your follies get to 1.8cm they trigger you on clomid i got triggered day 11 but on injectables i
get triggered day 7 they then inseminate you, I'm using my dp frozen sperm as his away alot working and it cost me $400 to freeze and $150 for the insem and then perseries
cost me about $160 for 2 weeks worth, i'm doing 2 insems 2 days in a row so it cost altogether $460 and i get $46 back from medicare. I know i have proberly not explained too well but that's the gist of it.
I just thought i'm not sure if i'm allowed to put the prices on here if not i'm sorry
IUI is a step back from IVF. Instead of taking the eggs out of you and fertilising them in a lab, you ovulate and the washed semen sample is deposited in your uterus, so you rely on natural fertilisation. We're in the same boat as rai - we'd rather be doing ICSI, but we can only afford IUI at this time, so that's what we're doing. If you have no male factor problems, the IUI doesn't increase your chances all that much over timed intercourse, but if you do have male factor issues then it can help a little (but overall success rates are typically significantly lower than IVF).
Thanks rai and juniper, I know I shouldn't be thinking ahead as though I have got a BFN but it is really hard. My BT is Monday and I really don't know what the outcome will be, I had sore heavy breasts and a little nausea during the week but that has stopped today ??? I have a AMH level of 1,1 so our FS said to just go straight to IVF as we don't know how much time I have. He did say we could try that sperm washing technique but he wasn't very hopeful of the success. Oh well, I guess I just have to wait to more days and then see what happens!
Kel, my AMH is similar (1.5 last July), so IVF is certainly the better option for us from a medical perspective, we just don't have the money for it, so we're doing what we can instead...
Juniper, do you mind me asking how many cycles you have done and how long you have to been TTC? Also, which clinic do you go to?
Anyone tested?? I am tempted but too scared, if its negative ill be devo and if its positive ill be wondering if its just the pregnyl. I'm kind of enjoying the last couple of days hoping I am I just don't want to rust that bubble. I've been feeling a bit different this time (though I think I probably do each time!) been feeling a bit seedy and having different sort of twinges not like period pain and know it could be the pregnyl but its not getting lesser as you would think it should if it was, or it could just be all in my head :(
Rai - Your iui is a bargain compared to mine, I was about $1300 out f pocket per cycle...
You only need one beautiful sperm to do its thing, fingers crossed it works
Kel, here's a quick summary:
TTC#1 - 3.5 years - 6 IUI, 5 IVF, 1 FET - 1 chem pg (natural conception, with acupuncture, between IVF#3 and #4) - 1 lap just before IVF#5 to diagnose and treat endo - IVF#5 gave us DD
TTC#2 - 1.75 years and counting (since June 2011) - 1 FET, 1 IUI - 1 mm/c (natural conception, with acupuncture) - 1 lap just before FET to treat endo
I'll leave my signature on so you can look at my FF Chart page if you want more details.
We're with QFG and have seen 3 different FS over the years (just started with the 3rd last month).
July 2012 was the first (and only) time I had my AMH tested (and I never had CD3 FSH run or an AFC done, until last cycle), but I always responded poorly during IVF, so I had already suspected DOR when we were TTC#1. Whilst the AMH results were very disappointing, they weren't a surprise...
Hummingbird, the variance in IUI prices is always astounding to me. I know someone who was paying around $2k. Mine have always been around $150 (two different FS), plus meds.
Juniper I've never shipped around but my iui was $2700 all inclusive but i got half back, wish Medicare covered it lol!!!
