Hi all I would like to join your group here. Wish I'd found it when first TTC. it hard when no one around you understands.
Well my DP had a low sperm count which fortunately for us just happened to be an inflammation and easily treated with anti-biotics. So I thought okay we back on track we should get pg straight away. Felt positive as my day 21 blood tests were all fine. 3 cycles post good sperm still no BFP. Specialist told us to try 6 mnths post good sperm before we return so fingers crossed.
Unfortunately i made the mistake of telling people when we first started TTC so i constantly get asked if I'm pg yet and why not, that I should be by now, etc. i know I should be by now but it not really in our control is it.
It funny how I spent all those years on the pill trying not to get pg would never have beleived that trying to get pg would be so long and hard!
Well I just O yest so fingers crossed for next 2 weeks.

Can I ask you ladies what you think of these statistics. For my age group the clinic did 110 treatment cycles. they had 99 patients. 10 cycles were cancelled. 100 egg retrievals. 96 embryp transfers. an average of 13 eggs retrieved. they ended up with 45 pregnancies, a pregnancy rate of 40.91%. pregnancy rate per embryo transfer of 46%. Of those pregnancies 23 were singletons, 20 twins and 1 triplets.
I only ask because I'm considering moving clinics to this one and I need someones opinion as to whether these statistics are good enough for me to move. Please bear in mind these statistics are over the period jan - june 2005.
thanks for any adivice.

Oh my god TRISH! I missed that!!!!!! That is fantastic news sweetheart!
I caved and POAS today. I am 14 DP IUI and it was a clear negative. I will have the beta as matter of going throught the motions, but wont sweat the result. In a way its good to be able to put it to bed and move on for the xmas break.
We will take a break of sorts again now, with an indefinite timeframe, and see how we go. I prepared myself better this cycle I think, and have expected this result all week - have had my usual AF symptoms so was pretty sure of a negative.
It still hurts, but it serves to make me more grateful for the miracle I have, its not fair to grieve for a child that may never exist, if it affects the delight that does. I have a lot to think about. All the best to you all.
-
Hi baby bliss,
Sorry to hear about the BFN. Maybe a break will do you good. Help you to clear your head.
I like what you said at the end of your post. it's a good point. We do grieve about something that doesn't exist. Enjoy your time with your son. Make the most of it all.

sararms,
the main thing you'd want to know is what the clinic's live birth rate is, not their pg rate. The reason for this is that a lot of clinics will use pg stats to signify success, but it is the live birth rate that matters. A clinic can have a 40% pg rate, but only a 20% live birth rate.
Also, you'll find that for your age group, most clinics will have a good success rate. It is whether they manage good successes in other age groups that will set them apart. This in part is because, while you're likely to succeed within a few cycles, if you don't, you want to know that they have experience in, and are progressive enough to try, different things to help you along. So don't dismiss the success rates of those for whom infertility may be a more complex issue, just in case you may need a clinic which is willing to go that extra mile. A good clinic is a good clinic to all their patients.
HTH, my sweet, and good luck!

Baby bliss
I know just how it feels. I too have had all the right signs just to get a big fat nothing at the end of it. The one thing we can say is that we are not alone in that here.
Idon't know about you, but I will be doing my very best to get pregant miraculously and naturally over Christmas and up to our next attempt probably in the Spring. I hope you bounce back quickly after your bad news.
all the best for the new year. xx
-
Sorry about the BFN Kelly, hopefully 2006 will be the year for all of you.
Have a Merry Christmas.
Blue, please don't touch the ticker - I want to see how high the numbers will go. Step away from the ticker....

:smt039 Hi Anna, welcome to the group. Good luck with it all. Hope you get a BFP next cycle. Do you have any kids or trying for number 1?
Well I'm 5 DPO, just waiting patiently, (not so patiently sometimes) for test time. Looking out for any symptoms at all! I do this every month and some months I am pretty convinced I am pg then AF shows up!
Hope everyone had a great chrissy. I had a fantastic day eating and drinking and being merry. :p
-
No other kids apart from our angel, this will be our first.

Hi Anna, welcome to BB!!!
Well I woke up Christmas morning and it's seems Santa must have thought I hadn't been very good this year and delivered me AF!!!
My cycle is all over the shop since my 4th lap/hyst/d & c in September and every AF since (& the week leading up too) has been strange. But I think it is in a good way, I feel like my body is doing more each month, working better?? iykwim. Shopping for Xmas food the day before I resisted the sudden urge I had to buy HPT. I am glad I did as it would have been a waste of money!!!! I bought myself a nice new singlet top today in the sales as a reward!!!!!
Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas.

DH and I have "unexplained infertility", which is great and not great, because why can't we make it happen?????? Fortunately we have a DS age 5 and a half conceived naturally and sooo easilly.....we are trying the puregon and pregnyl one more time....and considering IVF then.... :-k
