Hello everyone,
I'm new....looking to get some advice???
I'm 25 year old lady, no kids, I have PCOS and endo, I had an ectopic pregnancy in November 2011 which I naturally miscarried from. My husband and I have been ttc since August 2011.
I've just started Metformin - about a week now.
I don't know where I'm at in my cycle - it's as long as it wants and is no way predictable.
Even if you can't help, would be great to have a chat.

My DH and I have been TTC for 20 months (I'm not sure what is considered LTCCer but I would think anything over 1 year with no success?
After my GP gave me a referral to see the Gyn/OB clinic at John Hunter Hospital I have had blood test, pelvic US and my DH had semen test. We got our results yesterday and the doctor said my bloods and US were normal. He said that he could see very small cysts but as the bloods came back that there was no sign of PCOS he doesn't think I should be concerned about them. My DH test was normal too so the doctor thinks that the problem is just that I'm not ovulating properly.
He has given me a prescription for Primolut N (10mg) and Clomid (50mg). So I'm on my second day of Primolut and hoping that it works properly and forces AF so I can start my first course of Clomid sometime next week.
I've read so many horror stories of Clomid and find it difficult to find anyone that has anything good to say about Clomid. I am hoping that you lovely ladies can shed some light of what is it REALLY like to use Clomid. I understand this is never guaranteed that it will assist in a pregnancy but I would love to hear some real stories and what I should expect when I start using the Clomid. Will I start feeling the side effects immediately or does it take a few days? Should I be worried?
Any advice, tips and stories would be greatly appreciated :)

Hiya. Anyone else around in here? I just picked up my first script for Clomid. I will be taking 100mg from day 3-7, then have an u/s on day 10. Depending on what's found, I will inject myself with Ovidrel, then have timed sex. I'm hoping like hell this helps us get a healthy, live baby. My ovarian reserve is stuffed, so I may not respond to the drugs. I do ovulate on my own, but we're kind of assuming the eggs are at the end of their life.
I'm hoping the side effects aren't too bad but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Just waiting for AF to show up which should be today or tomorrow.

Not in here at the moment, but I have been in here before as used Clomid to help fall pregnant with both of my children. I may however be back in here in the next fews months as my GP is sending me back to my ob/gyn as she thinks I may be going through premature menopause based on the results of some blood tests she did before I went back on the pill. My son is only 5 months so I was a bit shocked hearing this and I have no other symptoms of menopause except for not getting my cycle back, but I just thought that was from PCOS which I was diagnosed with in 2008. She is getting the blood tests repeated and I am also having an ultrasound before my appoint with the gyno of Oct5th.
I was planning on going back on the pill and waiting a few years before TTC again but with this news, if it turns out my times running out, then we will prob TTC very soon, and as I needed clomid before I am assuming I will need it again.
Can I ask how you know your ovarian reserve is "stuffed" and does your doc think the clomid will help with the egg quality since you are assuming your eggs are at the end of their life?
I found the side effects not too bad. I was on 50mgs and experienced a few hot flushes and headaches but nothing too awful and then when I took it when TTC my son I suspect I had mild OHSS as I was incredibly bloated and in pain.

Hi Razzberry. I know my ovarian reserve is stuffed because my AMH=1, and FS and LH are high. It's all very depressing. Ironically, we got pregnant again the same cycle we found out about the AMH results, but that ended in a chemical. In one way, I'm thankful that, if there was something wrong, we lost it early. I'm still hoping for a healthy bean one day.
The Clomid wont help with quality, but may give ovulation a boost. I'm taking a bunch of other things to help with quality, including Vit D, coq10, melatonin and my normal round of pills. I'm 38 and have been through a huge amount of stress in the last few years. I'm not surprised my eggs are old. It's just depressing dealing with possible infertility on top of everything else we've been through.
How many cycles did it take you to conceive your children?
i thought clomid did help with quality? That's why I was on it?
My eggs were apparently 'immature' which is why i couldn't conceive.. It only took 2 cycles on 50mgs clomid
It worked first cycle with my daughter and second cycle with my son. So very fortunate it happened quickly for us.
So sorry you are now possibly facing infertility after everything you have been through :(
Meant to add the second cycle with my son we thought i hadn't ovulated but turned out I ovulated day 21 with it!
BAL - my understanding is that Clomid helps follicles grow. So rather than small follicles, you're more likely to have a larger one. It doesn't actually affect the quality of the egg inside, it just helps them mature.

AF arrived this morning, so I called to book my u/s. Couldnt get CD10, as it's a Saturday, so it will be CD12. I hope that doesnt make much difference. I usually ovulate cd14-16. Will Clomid push that out at all?
L&B- it shouldn't matter about the U/S date- its still before you usually ovulate so it should be fine. When I was on clomid I ovulated on CD 16 versus not ovulating or ovulating on Cd 21-26. So it shortened my cycle. Good luck!
L&B it shortened my first ov date by one day then next 2 months it delayed it by 3 days and 11 days respectively.
I ovulated day 14 with my first but and then day 21 with my next bub. Also had a cycle on it where I still didn't ovulate on it
I'm to trigger with Ovidrel whenever the Dr says to. Assuming there's some mature follies there.
With clomid often if there is more than one mature follicle they wont let you trigger at all. The aim is one good one!
On day 3 of clomid. I've had 2 lots of 100mg. I'm taking them in the evening. If I was going to get side effects, would I have them by now or do they turn up later? My kiniesiologist muscle tested me and said I'd probably just have mood swings like PMS. Nothing noticeable so far. At least not to me ;)
I had hot flashes for a few days after my last pill. Hope you don't have any side effects :) goodluck
I found it had a cumulative effect. The more months I was on it the worse it made me feel. Hopefully it won't matter for you because you won't be on it for too long ;)
Had cd12 scan today. 2 mature follies, 1 x 22mm and 1 x 19mm. Triggering later today. Here's hoping at least one of them is good quality and makes a healthy baby.

I haven't used these forums for over 2 years (back when we first started trying). I think I got a bit overwhelmed and didn't want to drive my self crazy thinking about trying all the time.
Now the husband and I are in our 3rd year of trying and on our second round of Clomid. We have been keeping the whole trying-for-babies-thing a secret and I'm so sick of having no one to talk too. I only ever have one thing on my mind and it is a big secret!
Anyway, an update. My last cycle was our first round of Clomid. I take the 5 tablets from CD 5 to CD9. Start baby dancin' every second day from CD10 to CD20, Blood test on CD21. My husband (age 33) and I (age 32) have been checked from top to bottom and everything is apparently good (except for the fact that we just haven't managed to get preggers). So, my OBGYN has put me on Clomid to give me the chance of 2 eggs each month. Last month I got a BFN but the blood test did confirm I O'd twice.
This current cycle I'm now at CD14. So, tablets are done and we are now BDing. I feel sick most days, especially right after I have finished the 5 tablets (This happened last cycle too). Bloaty and sick and other side effects, all that fun stuff. Last cycle the day before I got AF I was like the Incredible Hulk, which I'm hoping has to do with that being a really bad day and not something that will happen again this cycle. My AF was also awful. It didn't hurt (which is strange for me) but it was like a flood down there (TMI). Hoping this time round the side effects aren't as much and of course that I get a BFP and not worry about AF!

i've been hiding under a rock. I'm not sure when I can write this cycle off but I'm pretty sure it's a bust :( BFNs and a temp dive today. I'm feeling very sorry for myself.
Has anyone had their tubes checked? I kind of assumed mine were ok as we had a chemical a couple of months ago, so I figure the swimmers are getting up at least one tube. It's pointless hyperstimulating if they're closed though.
i'm tired of all this. 3.5 years, 2 dead babies & 2 other losses later, I'm tired. I'm wondering if we should just go straight to IVF and stop mucking around. DH wants to keep trying the Clomid for now. We're broke, so we couldnt afford IVF yet anyway.
a question for those who did back to back Clomid cycles and were monitored: did you grow mature follies about the same time each month? DH is travelling a lot next month. If I trigger again CD 12, then he'll be around to bd. if it's a few days earlier or later, then he may not be, so it would be a waste of a cycle.
L&B- I just had a look at my charts from when I was on clomid. I did 3 back to back cycles, I got my BFP on my third cycle which was a shock as I had tiny follies on my scan on CD12. I o'd on CD16, and the pg went to full term.
The FS had pretty much written off the cycle and given me scripts for 100mg for the next cycle and we were discussing doing a lap if that failed...then IVF. I've already had a lap done though & had no endo or blocked tubes so I didn't really see the point.

Yes I am currently on the 50mg. I don't have any mid cycle scans. Just the BT on CD21. I have had my tubes checked with the coloured dye thing that they do (I am so bad at remembering all the names of things) and everything appeared fine. That's when my OBGYN got me on Clomid. I'm trying this for up to 6 months, then he said after that the next stage would be trying IVF a couple of times, THEN doing the lap to check for endo. He doesn't want me having surgery without trying everything else first.
After trying the Clomid for 6 months that will be over 3 years of trying.
To be honest, I'm not sure (and never have been) if I even want to go the IVF route. I'm tired. So very tired and drained. IVF is expensive (I know that shouldn't matter, but it does) and I've always had a "if it's meant to be, it will happen" kind of attitude to life. I think IVF it's self is a wonderful wonderful thing, but for me I feel like I wouldn't cope with it well. Maybe we aren't meant to have kids and can go travel the world instead. *sigh* Can you adopt without having tried IVF?
So this Clomid stage might be my last foray. I really hope it works.
L&B, maybe we both need to shake of these grumps somehow.
PSM - you don't need to have tried IVF to try adoption, but adoption in Australia is so bloody hard, we wouldn't even bother. We'd prefer to try donor eggs or donor embryos. In my case, I know I can carry a pregnancy. It's just getting pregnant with a healthy baby that seems impossible to us. We're not ready to consider a life without living children at this stage.
yas - is it a lap that looks at the tubes? Given the recent pregnancy, I don't think I need any extra surgery and pressure put on my body. I think my issue is just old eggs. I guess I got excited, that despite my AMH, that we got 2 mature follies first time. I realise it doesn't mean there were eggs in there or that they were of decent quality though. Or that they fertilised.
we'll do the paperwork for IVf this week. It takes a while to get the police checks anyway. Then we need to start looking at costs and set up a meeting with an IVF genetic counsellor to look at our options.
L&B- No the lap was looking for endo- sorry I confused myself and you :lol: the procedure the FS wanted to do was the dye u/s and a lap to recheck for endo etc (my first lap was in feb 2009- she found growths and retained products in my uterus from my mc in November 2008 :o )
It is so disappointing, thinking that you had 2 awesome follies and then nadda. Did you ovulate? Did you have the progesterone test done? What was the level? My levels were awful my first 2 cycles- but we're high enough to show ovulation had happened. Even with 200mg of progesterone support (which seems to be my issue with staying pregnant) I had a luteal phase defect. Are you having progesterone support? :hugs: to you xx

L&B I had the tube test before my first failed cycle (I was doing oi but with injectables). It was meant to be just routine and my fs assumed all would be fine. Turned out the left tube was blocked. It hurt like hell but the dr kept pushing and eventually got some dye through. When we didn't get utd I was scheduled for a lap to investigate further. Tube was then considered fine but we got a surprise of endo all over the place. Again fs wasn't expecting this. From here we did four more cycles. The second I had three follies and got nothing out of it. The next two my hormones went crazy dropping through the floor but getting 20+ follies. We had to cancel those. The last cycle was a bit of last
Ditch attempt before ivf. We got one follie and expected nothing to come of it but I am now 24 weeks pregnant.
I know none of that prob helps but just wanted to send some love as I remember the disappointment of having that failed cycle when I had three follies.
L&B - So happy that you are excited about trying the next stage! I have all my fingers and toes crossed that the IVF works for you. I am just being a grump this cycle. I might feel differently next cycle.
Bumping and just popping in as my doc wants me to try on clomid in the next month or so.
DD took quite a while to concieve and we had to use clomid for a few cycles before a sticky bfp!

Hi ladies,
I was told by my FS right before falling pregnant with DS2 that my ovarian reserve was really low for my age and as we are desperately hoping to have a 3rd before my time is completely out we decided to start trying sooner rather than later (even though DS2 is only 9.5 months old).
I also suffer from ovarian cysts, endo and was told my my OB/Gyn 2 weeks ago that I have adenomyosis and I also suffer from a LPD hence why he started me on Clomid.
I just finished taking my 5th pill last night (take days 5-9) and CD10 today.
I have posted a couple of Clomid questions in the General Conception area but someone directed me to this thread and thought it was probably better ask in here if that's ok??
Does anyone know whether Clomid can cause yeast infections / thrush?
I reckon I have a yeast infection and haven't had one in ages so wondered whether the Clomid may have caused it??

Has anyone ever taken 2 lots of clomid in a cycle? It's day 22 and my levels have not started rising so if no ovulation by next week the FS is talking about me taking clomid again in this same cycle.
