LTTTC Two Week Wait - Nov to Dec

Nix - No I'm not on any prog support so it can't be from that. I am trying to stay calm and not think the worst but don't know if I'm convincing myself. Nothing has changed, AF hasn't arrived but it has been 2 days of still getting the light brown colour on and off, but only when I go to the bathroom?? If it's going to come I wish it would just come and stop torturing me! I guess though I am still praying for a miracle and hoping that this is just something else going on in there.... :pray:

Mrs P - I don't mean to be nosey, but do you mind if I ask whether you had any early pregancy symptoms?

bj - it's still sounding like possible implantation bleeding hun. The spotting I had was a bit on and off too, and was brown.

Brunette - not nosey at all :) My boobs are sore and are definitely bigger plus the aerola (sp?) are noticeably larger. But I think the bigger boobs may be from the progynova I am taking. This was my first transfer using pessaries so not sure if any of this is associated with that.
Also - I've had some wierd cramping sensations in my abdomen, not like AF cramps though, and last weekend I was lying on the couch and I sneezed and got this massive cramp/pain all the way across my lower abdomen, near the ovaries as well. Kinda wierd.

Also - I think my sense of smell has improved, which could be a figment of my imagination of course, but I was at the shops on THursday night and everything SMELT strong to me! And the final thing would be the brown spotting I had around 6-7 days post transfer.

Well tomorrow is test day so I will finally know for sure. Fingers crossed.

Mrs P - Thanks for that. I haven't yet noticed any signs, other than a bit of twingeing in the lower abdomen. Also (probably TMI) but I am a little constipated and I think my sense of smell is heightened, but I am probably just imagining it all .... No sore boobs at all yet, though on the last two IVF cycles I had swollen boobs and they were sore/tingly and they were both BFN.

Mrs P - Again I'm going to pry way too much....Was your spotting actually spotting or was it more of just a light brown colour on the loo paper? Or could the difference just be that I'm not on the pesseries? You must be so excited about tomorrow....Did you tell your DH about the HPT?

Brunette - I haven't had sore boobs either but I usually get them before AF so that's got me stumped!? My cramping today kind of feels like a stitch right up near my ribs and some twinges in my lower abdomen. It is so hard not to read into things either way!

BJ - It is so hard to not read things into everything, isn't it? If we weren't in the TWW, no doubt we wouldn't even notice the twinges/cramps etc. I try to tell myself it's nothing and not get my hopes up, but then I go and do stupid things like work out the date the baby would be born based on day of conception, and what starsign the baby would be :redface: On the last cycle I had two embies transferred and every night I would say goodnight to them and good morning, and then when it was a BFN I felt like an idiot. So this time I haven't done that - and then I feel guilty as if I've given up on them when they might still be there and doing fine! Aaaaagh.

Actually never mind......AF just showed up :crying: Looks like I was right....another :bfn: for me. I'm just going to go and hide in my cave for a while.

Daisie - hello and welcome! I have endo too, which is our only diagnosis, otherwise we're "unexplained". How about you? There's nothing like the support from these women to keep you strong. And it's a great place to let your emotions fly too! :)

AFM - I couldn't tell you whether I thought I was pg or not. Friday and Saturday I felt nauseous, crampy and very emotional, but then yesterday I had only mild physical symptoms but was crying at nearly everything! DH thought it was the buildup of the crinone that had me feeling so lousy, but if that were true wouldn't I have continued to feel that way Sunday and today? I just scoured the house looking for HPTs, even though DH and I agreed we would wait until BT. Thankfully I couldn't find any, which will help me keep my resolve. I don't know how I'm going to wait until Wednesday. I'm so hopeful, but so scared of being disappointed.

Just popping in here to tell you guys of my experience :) I remember how I felt in all of my 2ww's and i was going crazy for info. I have been reading for the last couple of days and my heart and support goes out to each and every one of you.

The background.
I am 24 weeks pregnant from a transfer of 2 fresh 3day embybabies. It was my first boost cycle and I only had 2 eggs (out of 7 that were retrieved) fertilise. It was an experimental cycle because we didnt know how my body would react as my other cycles were the long ones . I had decided that I wanted to try the boost as I was running out of time before the medicare changes. After egg collection my FS did not hold out much hope as I only had 2 eggs that were mature. FS said that he knew exactly what to do for the next boost cycle and that we could start again really soon. Guess he REALLY didnt expect it to work lol.

Before this successful cycle I had 1 fresh cycle resulting in 1 blasty and 1 frosty blasty. Both BFN's.

What happened.
Day of transfer - had both 3day emby's transfered with no problems. One was a good 8 cell, the other was an ok 4 cell. I insisted on having both done, it was suggested that I have the 8 cell put in and let the other try to get to blasty. Nope. No way, no how.

I am pretty much done with blasty-waiting. I think that too many good, fertilised eggs are lost doing that. I firmly believe now that the embies are better off in my tum or frozen when they get to day 3. JMHO of course.
Anyways, after transfer I went straight down and had a strong coffee as I read somewhere that caffine is good. Went home and cried for the rest of the day, just felt sure it was all a big waste of time - wasnt going to work.
2-5dpt felt bad. Had pains in ovary area, irratable - basically AF type symptoms. 7-9 dpt got sore boobs and had definate pmt crampy pains. Knew it was caused by the horrid progesterone injections (no crinone this boost cycle). Ugg.
10 -11 dpt- weird stabbing pain in lower left side with a kind of dragging downward feeling. Thought a huge AF bleed was imminent. The stabbing pain almost felt like it was in my ovary. It was the only out of the ordinary pain I had. I now believe it was implantation.
11dpt- went to pub for lunch and had a medicinal guiness :) cos was convinced that i was definately BFN. No symptoms of pregnancy at all, everything seemed to be related to progesterone support.

12dpt- got totally fed up with waiting and decided to do a hpt while there was a chance that prog.support would cause a second line. Just wanted to see what it would feel like to get a bfp, even if it wasnt real. (yep, I had totally lost my mind at this point)
Did a hpt first think in the morning. Was negative straight away. Shrieked at DH like a mad woman that I "knew what negative looked like when i saw it" and to leave me alone when he wanted to check to make sure. ( not my finest moment but things arent always rainbows and sunshine when it comes to ivf). So, i threw the test away and cried for half an hour.

In the meantime, DH retrieved test from bin 15 minutes later. He sat and stewed for a while due to my previous reaction and then he came to me with the test. "Look at this" he said. "I might be crazy but i think i see a faint second line"... WELL. I snatched that thing out of his hand like it was a winning lotto ticket and peered at it like a mad scientist. OMG it f*ing did have a very very very faint second line!!! I made myself be calm and told him was most likely high progesterone levels, I would try again tomorrow morning. Went down and bought 5 hpt's for "just in case".
That day, no real symptoms to speak of, just some AF style cramps.

13dpt. Did second hpt at 4 am, faint second line still showing - it was 8 days since last progesterone injection, according to google it leaves the system after 7 days. I allowed a tiny bit of hope to creep in.

The next day, 14dpt, went for blood test. Result BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very high HCG levels, possibly multiples. Interesting to note, even though my levels were very high (around 900) the hpt only showed a really faint line, even at 14 days after transfer.

IN TOTAL AND UTTER SHOCK. (still kinda am) Had scan after a few weeks, both embybabies from transfer had implanted. At 8.5 weeks one of the little heartbeats disappeared, vanishing twin syndrome. Was a sad but had to focus on the one beautiful healthy baby that remained. Took a few weeks to get over it but I am fine now. I am still absolutely AMAZED that this cycle worked and resulted in a baby. I was pretty much convinced that it only happens for other people.
Kept doing hpt's even after i got the bfp. Compulsively. They were faint for ages.

In summary -
-Horrible but true, symptoms mean nothing. Progesterone injections and crinone cause AF symptoms. AF symptoms are very similar to early, early pregnancy. So we cant win lol.
-Hpt's are the enemy. Although resistance is futile.
-You gotta have nerves of steel in this game. Its a gamble. You lay your money on the table and with bad odds, you give it a shot. Be prepared for disappointment. Hope for the best but plan for the worst.
- HOWEVER, remember that it does work. As long as you have the resources, keep trying. IT CAN HAPPEN FOR YOU.

To answer your question from your previous post, the 'spotting' was just like brown staining and a little on the toilet paper when I went to the loo. Was never red or pink, just brown. Was present a couple of times over two days.

Sal79 - you're so close now - only 2 more sleeps til BT!

AFM - had my BT this morning. Probably won't get the result for about 5 hours I think. Was the fastest and easiest blood collection I've ever had! I have now POAS four times, yes I am obsessed. My DH was really mad at me for testing early, he is trying to be sensible and telling me not to get too excited etc etc. He just wants to protect me as he has seen how devastated I have been previously. The thing is, as far as I can tell, the only reason for my +ve POAS is pg hormone in my urine, which either means I am pg or I was pg. Only a few hours to go - will be sure to post back either way.

Thanks Sammiejam for a fantastic post, it's very encouraging. I particular like the "nerves of steel" part, it's going to be my mantra for the next couple of days. I'm also learning to not speak of symptoms, but merely of side-effects of hormones. Slowly learning...

AFM ~ Ive had some weird lower tummy pains but not sure if its just constipation (sorry TMI). But is constipation a good thing when in a natural cycle? I have no idea. But going by Sammie's advice im not going to stress over it.

Guys, I need some help if anyone can. I feel like a total idiot and normally wouldn't admit to it, but I'm hoping someone else has done the same and can offer some advice ...
Okay, now I know I said I wasn't going to POAS but I succumbed this morning because I have been getting no symptoms and am slowly but surely losing my mind. I am 5dp 5d transfer (so 10dpo). I didn't do the test first thing in the morning. Anyway, it came back negative and then I checked the instructions properly and realised I had pee'd on the wrong end! :redface: So I got out a new test and re-tested. Again, negative. I then grabbed the first test and also dipped that in the right end. This time the control test line appeared but nothing else.

So then I confessed to DH, cried most of the morning, and he came home at lunchtime to console me. He looked at the test packet and realised that the second test was a LH test to predict a surge for ovulation :redface: I started to feel hope again as I thought they were both LH tests. The first one was a pregnacy test.

So my question is this: has anyone pee'd on the wrong end of the stick and then pee'd on the correct end, and had a positive result? God, I feel so stupid at the moment. I knew I shouldnt have done a HPT!

I've been posting in the other thread but I had my transfer done yesterday so thought I'd come join you lovely ladies here! We had a day 5 blasty transferred but only ended up with 2 for the freezer, which we were a bit dissapointed about as we started with 11 fertalised eggs.

Brunette - DON'T WORRY!! When I had my positive result, I don't think I showed a clear positive result until 8dpt. Also, I've bought a 10 pack of HPT, the ones where you wee in a cup & dip it in as I wanted to test out the trigger & pregnyl shots. It's been 7 days since I had my trigger but I had a pregnly 1500 shot yesterday & the test showed nothing, was a BFN!! So, if you've got the same type of tests I'd question how sensative they are as I know from past experience a HPT should be showing a reading for the pregnyl only 1 day after the injection. So please try not to worry

Mrs P - Good luck for today, I can now cross my legs again for you!!

Hey LittleMiss, thanks for the advice. I did numerous things wrong including probably being too early to test, not first morning pee, drank heaps of water prior to POAS and peed on the wrong end first! Talk about a total stuff-up. Still ... I don't feel good after not seeing a positive line.

Brunetter - I've peed on the wrong end of one too!! My last cycle (which was BFN) I was so excited and I didn't want DH to know that I was doing a HPT so I did it real quick first thing before he busted me... and it was one of those little cardboard stick types... one end white and one end purple. Anyway, i peed on the purple end (duh!) and got nothing, then realised and quick smart peed on the correct end. Negative. DH growled at me for doing it (he was really disappointed that it was Neg) and not waiting for the BT... what can I say? I'm just that impatient. Anyway, long story short... you're not the only one! Having said that, I didn't get a BFP that cycle... but I tested the day prior to BT so you've still got a few days to go.

Mrs P - GL, dying to hear your results.

I still can't believe it but it's :bfp: for us - our first ever. Beta level was 2069 (19 days after fertilisation). Cautiously optimistic at the moment :) Clinic want to do weekly bloods for now and I have to continue the pessaries, progynova and estrogen patches.

AFM, I'm still feeling pretty down. I'm finding this cycle much harder to deal with than any of my others. I think it's becuase I don't have my next cycle lined up yet (awaiting a call from FS). And because I've gone mad (thanks to hormones) I have convinced myself that I'm going into early menopause! I'm having hot flushes!! In my moments of sanity though, I do realise the chances of menopause kicking in are quite low at my age. Anyway, I know I'm not in the TWW anymore so probably should be posting elsewhere... Becuase I'm so new to this, I don't know which forum to go during the period after TWW and before next IVF cycle. Is there a forum for those of us in limbo?

Daisie - I hope you're right and it is too early to test ... My BT is not till the 16th. But I feel like I'm clutching at straws at the moment.

Bronsie - There are several places you can post. You could go the conception buddies thread, and choose from an age group or how long you've been trying to conceive, or if you get diagnostic testing done before ET, or if you do IUI etc, etc.

Sal - I'm sorry to hear that. I'm the same as you: I never get to BT without some spotting/bleeding beforehand. But for me it lessens the blow a little. I figure at least I know I'm not UTD by the time of test. I'd prefer that than not having any bleeding and thinking "this is it" when it's actually not.

Mrs P - HUGE CONGRATS!! Well done, I'm so happy for you. Did you have one or two transferred, is there the possibility of two in there???

AFM - Day 2 & nothing to report. The only good thing is the swelling I had from my epu has finally gone so in that respect I'm feeling much better. Had my estroegen & progesterone levels checked today, estrogen is still a bit high from stimming so the nurse said I have to continue the clexane injections. Does anyone know what clexane has to do with high estrogen as I'm on these for a clotting disorder??? Hope everyone is travelling well

Looks like we've all been a bit quiet the last couple of days, hope you are all doing well. Having a bit of a down in the dumps day, not feeling very positive at all. I'm feeling absolutely NOTHING!! I remember last time I felt lots of cramping/pulling & had implantation spotting but havent felt anything this time. When I was at the shops yesterday I bought a 3 pack of HPT so think I will test on Sunday at 7dp5dt. I'm not on any pregnyl so won't have anything intefering with the result.

Hi LMM - I know how you feel. I felt exactly the same this cycle - nothing! No symptoms. Not even sore boobs which I had on my previous two stim cycles - and looks like my intuition was right. I have got spotting yesterday and today, and negative on HPT :( It totally sucks and I'm so ****ty at the world and angry. I will sometimes just burst into tears. I am blaming myself for it not working because we had two top-quality five-day embies transferred. I keep wondering whether if they were put into someone else they would have lived ... And this weekend we have a child's birthday party to go to - a family member's. I am soooo not looking forward to it. When is your BT? I called the clinic today and tried to bring mine forward (due Wednesday) but was told Tuesday was the earliest, unless I get a full-blown AF over the weekend and then I can come in on Monday. I just want to stop taking those horrible Clexane injections and get off the steroids as I know I'm not pregnant. I hope you feel better and cheerier soon.

I am pretty down too. I am sure I'm going to get a BFN... I feel like I do every other month since TTC. I started getting snappy today and dropped a few things (def sign AF is on the way). I've brought my BT forward to Monday as I've got Monday off work, so will be easier to get the bad news and not have to be in the office.

Brunette & Daisey - Looks like we're all feeling in the same boat & what a crappy boat it is! I too question myself & think why isn't my body doing what its supposed to, you get told everything is looking good, the thickness of your lining, your hormone levels, the blasty then why the heck do we get negative results. We also fall into the unexplained category & hubby checks out 100% OK so although we don't have anything diagnosed, I do feel like the problem lies with me. I know we have been blessed & are now trying for number two but I can totally understand how you are both feeling.

Brunette - I don't go to the fertility centre when it's just a blood test as it's an hours drive away so I go to one closer to home. All the times I've known it's a BFN, I've just gone & got it done early without telliing them I mean what can they do a zero result is still a zero result. I know how hard it is to go to partys & put on a happy face when inside your heart is breaking & thinking when will it be me? All I can say is I know your time will come & when it does you'll know everything we put ourselves through will be worth it xxx

Well, it was as I thought I poas this morning 7dp5dt & it was a bfn, not the slightest hint of any line for me to obsess over. So right now I'm enjoying a nice glass of vino & will have to head out tomorrow to stock up on my xmas cheer! My clinic makes you take at least a months break between each cycle, so we have two in the freezer & will head back in for another go in the new year.
