No Sperm found, should be do a Biopsy

Hey all..

We have reached the top of the wait list and picked out our sperm donor. We should be starting the whole process mid January 2014. Very exciting!!
But I have found the clinic to be very unorganised. When we went in for our specialist appointment I was trying to get a timeline for when the embro will be transferred but he wasn't really answering and just told us to see the nurse, then he asked me what I want to do in the event of something happening to me, when I replied to donate them he told me the only option is to destroy them... I was very confused as to why he asked me the question when there is only one option??
Also on the 1st appointment he said he thought IUI would be the best way to tackle this for us... But my DH and I decided to go with IVF so on the 2nd appointment we said we wanted to do IVF the DR said yes I think IVF would be the best way to tackle this... I feel like they just tell you want you want to hear.. Does anyone else have a problem with there clinc?

I’m so sorry - I haven’t checked in here for ages and was just wondering about how you were getting on. It’s great news that you have progressed and chosen a donor but too bad that your doctor hasn’t been very helpful. We were at a different branch of the same clinic and I think that we were very lucky with our doctor. Have you started your first IVF cycle yet? How has it all been going?

About your doctor’s question regarding what to do with your embryos if something happened to you, I was given a form at the beginning of my treatment to consent to my partner being able to use our embryos in my absence. Perhaps this is what your doc was talking about?

I am 27 weeks pregnant now and everything seems to be going really well. :D

I’ll check in here more regularly now that I know that you have started the process. I can’t wait to hear how things have gone. Fingers crossed for you.

How many times did you have a embryo transfer to get to where you are now?

I had my egg retrieval today they got 4 out 2 mature. So I guess I have to wait now to see if they fertilize. I'm feeling very nervous as we can't really afford another round in the near future!

Oh wow Jen, how exciting! I hope that you are feeling okay after your egg retrieval and that those eggs fertilize well! I remember how nervous I was waiting to hear how many eggs had fertilized and then how the embryos were going each day after. I will keep my fingers very tightly crossed for you over the next few days. :pray:

We were really lucky and our first embryo transfer worked. I hope that you and your husband are as fortunate! The fact that you are so young and don’t have any diagnosed fertility issues yourself makes me feel really optimistic for you.

Thanks for your good wishes! I know that I found it hard to be happy for pregnant ladies while we were going through the whole process. One thing that I can tell you is that the rewards are the sweetest after the toughest journeys! I am so grateful every day for the little girl that is growing in my belly.

Anyway, take it easy and be kind to yourself! Please keep me posted on how things progress for you. I’ll check in here regularly to see if you have any news.

They collected 4 eggs but only 2 were mature. They fertilized both mature eggs but only 1 had shown signs of cell dividing. So i had the embryo transfer today. Fingers crossed for myself. but i don't want to get to excited. If this one doesn't work then we won't be able to afford to do it again for at least another 3 years. $11,000 plus petrol and time off work isn't really a small amount!!

It only takes one sticky little bean! I really hope this is it for you! I’ll keep my fingers tightly crossed!

I know exactly what you mean about the costs… the bills are enormous and definitely add more stress to the situation!

Try to stay positive, relax and take it easy over the next couple of weeks (easier said than done... I know)! I'll be thinking of you and waiting to hear how you go.

I don't have my test till the 11th. I'm having a bad day today. More people making pregnancy announcements on Facebook. I just looked out my window and some moms are walking down the street with their prams. I just want this to work so bad but with only a 30%chance I'm not hopeful. Feeling very down..

And yet another pregnancy announcement... Grr. 😠

Tomorrow (11th march) is my blood test.. Wish me luck!!

Yes i had my very first ultrasound when i was 7 weeks!! I have since had my 12week scan and in 3 weeks i have my 19week scan to find out what im having, i see you were due 2 weeks ago!! how was the labor? i hope it all went well!!
