Hi Kristen, our timing is very similar! I have a FS appt this afternoon, and seeing as AF hadn't shown, (i'm on CD29), i thought i'd better POAS this morning. Well, nothing but a @#*!* BFN! Then about 2 hrs later, i start spotting, so that was a waste of time POAS! AND, my brand new 3 pack hpt only had 2 sticks inside!! So i won't be buying that brand again :rolleyes:.
I will be going onto a 4th clomid cycle, with full monitoring.

didispunk: The guys at Ballarat IVF are great and really supportive, which gives me hope that if the clomid doesn't work and if I have to move to IVF then I am not concerned. I am testing 17DPO and the wait is sooo long. I have had sore BB basically since 2 days after trigger injection and have been having trouble sleeping as well. I can't sleep on my stomach (my favourite position to sleep) as the pressure on my abdomen is too much. I am now at day 27 in this cycle so am unsure if these are positive signs or not. Will have to wait until next Monday.
Hi ladies, I have been on and off the forum for a few months, had to have a forced medical break due to Precancerous cells in my uterus, went on treatment late last year, got the all clear and go ahead in November but then the first cycle failed due to breakthough bleeding and No uterus lining, but we had eggs ;o)))
then OB asked me to have 2-3 months on the pill to "calm everything down" it worked and now I am day 4 of the first Cycle of 08. Taking clomid 2-4, then scan at 10days and we go from there.............Praying this works, I am excited to be back on Clomid, strange as it sounds,

Welcome back ickimum! Goodluck for your clomid cycle ... i saw my FS yesterday, and its all systems go for a fully monitored cycle, so i'm also excited to be doing another clomid round .... strange as that may sound, considering the last 3 have not helped! I have a few extra tactics up my sleeve this cycle, including 'pre-seed' to give DH's swimmers a helping hand on their journey. I'm feeling very positive, so :crossfingers:!

I am still exhausted today, was awake from about 3.30am onwards. Started to get alot of cramping and thought ....oh no here it comes as today is day 28. But so far nothing has shown its ugly head and doesn't appear to want to either. So fingers crossed the cramping is just some stretching... Monday seems so far away and I know that I will be waiting everyday for AF to appear. I'm feeling a over it at the moment. It is amazing how with the first 2 failed cycles the time flew by to commence the next cycle, but this 3rd one seems to be dragging and I am impatient normally so that doesn't help.
Maybe a few deep breaths and some retail therapy will be good to take my mind off the wait. I am really hopefully thought that this one works as I am counting down to the dreaded "35" (less than 3 weeks away) and I feel the older I get the harder it's going to get.

Well, I am a week back from the TWW - PG symptoms I was having must have been from the HCG injection - so now I just feel like a royal fool!!
I wasn't booked to see my FS until next Monday but I called today to see if they'd had any cancellations, which they had so I just got back. I explained that I was still getting the painful periods since my son's birth and it felt like it was getting worse and I was beginning to wonder if something else may be wrong and if that was the reason we'd been having trouble falling pregnant? He agreed and suggested a lap (which I was hoping he would), but unfortunately he doesn't perform the procedure anymore so has referred me to a collegue. Am booked in for the day on Wednesday 20th Feb! Am feeling a lot less depressed about the whole thing now, which is great. The last few nights I've just been bawling, so any improvement from that is a welcome one :)

Oh no, maybe what I am feeling is also from the trigger injection. I wish I could get another Prog blood test to see if it the level has increased from last week to give me some idea if there is anything happening.
Good luck with your lap. I had one done just over 2 years ago with a Hysteroscopy at the same time. It is good to know what you might be dealing with so you know which way to proceed.
Emma - good to hear from you again ... no need to feel like a royal fool, as i also think that anything out of the ordinary must be a preg sign!! This last cycle, i really did have ultra sensitive nipples, which has never happened before, so was wondering that we may have hit the jackpot, but, no, the old cow shows up, cd29 as usual :wall:! Good to have got yourself that early appt ... i did the same in early Jan, and it just helped in feeling that i was moving forward, creating my next plan, and getting the ball rolling .. basically feeling like i was in control again. This cycle i will be having the trigger injection, so no doubt, will have many preg signs, and i may even poas just to see the two lines, even if it is the trigger still in my system ... i've never seen two lines yet!!

Hi ladies I need your help, I have been trying to take preconception Vitamins, I have tried Blackmores and another brand that has slipped my mind but I am having terrible trouble with them giving me a stomach ache, I've tried taking them at night, in the morning with and without food etc..........any idea what is giving me a stomach ache??? someone suggested it could be the Iron.

Hi ickimum - that doesn't sound very nice, all the stomach pains etc .... where do you buy your vitamins from - as there wouldn't be anyone to ask if you're at a supermarket .... maybe if you go to a health food store, then the assistant should be able to advise you? Or, sometimes if i've had queries like yours, i actually go to the chemist, and speak to the pharmacist (the one who prepares the scripts etc).. they are often a wealth of information! HTH :) tp

Theresp - Good luck with your 4th cycle, hope this is a good one for the both of us. I've been taking Clomid days 5-9, but not ovulating till day 17 and the last cycle I got my period after 9-10 days after O. Should I be concerned by that and if I take the clomid earlier will I O earlier. Is there any harm in taking it a day or two earlier?? I'm booked in to see specialist in a few days but need to start clomid before that. I hope to to be monitired fully this time, and I don't know much about the trigger injections but I might mention it? Why do they usually suggest them? Also can I ask what "pre seed" is? May be a silly question but I'm looking for anything that will help. I really want this cycle to go well as the mext few months are so busy for us and my partner will be away a bit as well which won't help.

I have been taking Elevit which was recommended by my FS. They cost about $65 for 100 (so a bit expensive) but are supposed to have the extra Iron, Folate and all the extras needed for Pregnancy & Breastfeed (when the time comes).
When I first started taking them I had a bit of constipation (due to the additional iron0 but that subsided after a while. They really helped me as I was iron deficient and they helped bring the levels up to normal.
theresep: haven't managed the retail therapy as yet. Too tired, although I did have to buy some new bigger bras last week to cope with the increase to my bust size. I am pretty large in that area to start with and now feel a bit Pamela Anderson ish... DH doesn't mind of course, but they are getting in the way hehehe.

I am a brand newie about to embark on my first cycle of clomid. Is there any advice or warnings you can give me about what I may experience or feel? My Gyno/Obs is starting me off on v low dose of 25mg days 5 -9. Then having blood test on day 21 and seeing him on day 24-27. Just waiting for AF any day now so I can get started.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated......

Hi Aleenta, welcome, I am on my second cycle, the last was chanced due to my hormones being crazy and all over the place. This cycle I am doing okay, I am on 50mg days 2-5, scan at 10 days and then decided what to do from there.......likely egg release and then insemination since our OB feels that is the most sucessful with someone my age :O) I'm old at 38 LOL.
My scan is next tuesday............. I am lucky I don't have any real side affects, a bit of flushing after taking the tablets but it passes, I get a bit grumpy later in the month. Others might have better advice for you,

THanks ladies I have tired Elevit too, I ask at the baby expo last year at the Elevit stand and their only suggestion was I was sensitive to Iron.........my Chemist felt the same, but on the flip side I am often low in Iron too.........My girlfriend is getting me a appointment with her friend that is a busy natural therapist to see if she can test me for Iron sensitivity, Dr just fobbed it off, but this isn't just mild stomach aches, its not nice and really affects me, as soon as I stop taking the tablet it goes away.

Kristen - i've been taking clomid cd 5 - 9, but for this cycle, my FS suggested days 3 - 7. I didn't really question him as to why the change, so i guess if you were concerned, then maybe you could ring your FS? This cycle i will be taking my temps again, so i can have a good idea of O. In the past clomid cycles, (cd5-9), i've ovulated on cd 14 and 15, then AF arrived 14 dpo - but this has always been my situation, even when not on clomid - so it will be interesting to see if i O earlier, because i'm taking the clomid earlier. The trigger shot is an injection of Pregnyl, which helps release the mature egg. It is given after a scan, once your FS has confirmed that there is a good sized follicle, and is injected under your skin, either in your thigh, or tummy. I'm having scans done on cd 10, and also cd13. If on cd13 there is a good size follie, then the FS will give me the trigger on that day. Pre-seed is a 'vaginal lubricant' :rolleyes: that is pH balanced to match fertile cervical mucus. This makes it friendly to sperm, and helps them swim upstream! In the past, a naturopath has told me that i'm quite acidic, and this may have been harming the sperm, so i figure if i have plenty of sperm friendly lube, then it just may help them survive :lol:. Welcome Aleenta ... best of luck on your cycle - the main thing that i can think of that seems to work for me, is that i take the clomid at night, before i go to bed, then if i was to have any side effects (nausea or headaches etc) then atleast i would be in bed for the following 7 or 8 hrs, so my body would be quiet, and resting, and not having to deal with work or chores or whatever. :goodluck:

Welcome Aleenta, I am in my 3rd clomid cycle and taking 25mg day 2 - 6. I am now in the dreaded TWW. The side affects that I suffer are increase body temp and bloating. I started my first cycle to see of that worked and had no luck with any follicles. So the dosage was increased to 50mg for the second cycle to kit start my ovaries and I had 5 follicles, so the cycle was cancelled as there were too many and I suffered from Hyperstimulation. So this cycle went back to 25mg as we think that the 50mg gave them too much of a shock and I had 1 good follicle. I get scanned generally around days 10-12 and then have trigger around day 14-16 (if only 1 or 2 good follicles present) as I don't seem to O on my own and then a prog BT 1 week after trigger to check level to make sure O happened. And finally P test 17 days after trigger.
It is really confusing at the start trying to work out what you need to do with your meds and appt's as well as trying to read you body signals, but we are all going throught ths with you as well. :crossfingers: 25mg works for you first time :goodluck:.

I had to post this today as I have had the most confusing weekend possible. Tomorrow is test time but this weekend I have been getting more cramps and I was sure AF was going to start last night.
I noticed a small amount of very light pink when going to toilet and thought this is the start, but this morning I have woken up and all that remains is a small amount of brown discharge. Also today I am sooo hot it is unbearable. I am
really confused as I have a gut feeling that this cycle has been unsuccessful :(
Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them and then had a BFN afterwards. I think I am going crazy.....
Hi KellyD - i can't really add anything that will make things clearer for you - do you usually have a 'stop - start' beginning to AF, or do you normally just get a full flow? I'll have my fingers crossed for you! With my last cycle, scans showed no mature follies, but in the week leading up to AF, i had the most sensitive nipples ever - and this hadn't happened before, so of course i kept thinking .... maybe the scans missed something, and maybe i did have a mature follie, just hiding away .... but that was wishful thinking :rolleyes: we play such mind games at these times! I did a poas this morning which was as expected a BFN, but at least could ring the clinic today to discuss.
I had to go in for a BT (was in Melb at work so had to come back to Ballarat) so am waiting on the results. From the results might have to see the FS as I have had the cramping for a week now, so they want to make sure there is no chance of an ectopic. Although have started spotting again so maybe AF is going to start and put my mind at rest. I have to fly to Syd for work tomorrow and am back on Wed night so we are making sure there is nothing wrong before leaving.
When AF normally starts I generally get severe pain and then it is full on from there. Although last cycle it was a full on flood so I am hoping it won't happen this same this cycle.
So I think I will be on Cycle 4 shortly.

BT results also a BFN, I had an emergency appointment with my FS as AF not started and cramping for past week. He didn't seem concerned so just have to wait and then onto next Clomid cycle. He did however give me the option of trying 2 more cycles of clomid/natural or can go straight to IUI for next 5 cycles.
He seems to think that I should get a BFN in a six month timeframe, so could be a good thing (something positive to look forward to) or a bad thing (hoping that each month is the one and if doesn't happen by cycle 6 then feeling I have failed). Will have to discuss with DH tonight which way to go, but he seemed disappointed when I told heim about BFN. He was really supportive and promised it will happen this month (for my birthday).
So I am now waiting for AF so can start 25mg days 2-6 again.
Hi, I am a bit confused. I took clomid for a year about two years ago. Never a late period. I just took a cyle of clomid from day 5 to 9 (2 tablets a day) i am 6 days late, thought I might be pregnant and have just started first sign of a peiod. My gyno told me if you are late with clomid you are pregnant. This does't seem to be correct from what you girls are saying. I know the side effects from clomid. Really sore breasts before your period is due ( like you are pregnant which does go away I also can feel my egg being close to release at day 14) I really don't like this drug as it tricks you with false hope each cycle. this cycle and weekend has been a roller coaster.

Kelly D sorry to hear of your bfn ... if some positives can be found, lucky it didn't turn out to be an ectopic. I know some months, my DH can get really disappointed, but we always dig deep and find plenty of hope and optimism to look ahead to the next cycle. Your FS sounds confident of a BFP soon, so :crossfingers:! Although i know you will be thinking ....ok, it has to be this month... I know i'm putting alot of faith in the cycle i'm on now, so hope it isn't a hard landing if it's not a BFP :pray:.
Alison - how are things going for you? Has AF showed yet ... i think if i was 6 days late, i would do a hpt ... were you taking clomid again for this cycle? My FS has not mentioned that being late on clomid means you are preg, but so far, i've never been 'late' ... my AF has always arrived day 28-30, even when not on clomid. I pray for the day when i get past day 30 with no sign of AF! It's interesting - i would normally have sore BB's when not on clomid, but my cycles with clomid, i haven't had sore BB's ... just really sensitive nipples on my 3rd clomid cycle :rolleyes: . I don't know, all this analysis .... some days i just want to throw my hands in the air and just not think about anything!!!

Doing the happy dance here, we have 2 beautiful healthy little eggs ready to hatch already, there was 4 other tiny ones that the OB feels will amount to nothing so she didn't cancel the cycle like I was fearing she would at first.
I took the trigger at the Clinic today because the 2 little beauties are already 20mm and the OB wanted them to release today.
We aren't doing Insem as DH had no time to get organise as we triggered today instead of day 14(which would of given us time to do the Insem)
I was happy as far as we know there is no issue that would cause this not to work, Lap& DC was clear once I got the precancerous treatments, Dh was okay last time he was tested.
SO we have to do our "thing";) for the next 4 days she tells us.............
I should ovulate late tomorrow or into the next day............
We will see what the next few weeks bring, Keeping everything crossed........OB feels if this doesn't work within 3 cycles she will talk to us about IVF.
SOOOOOO praying this works :O) SO don't want to do IVF but I guess I will to make this happen.........I want a beautiful baby so bad :O)

Alison my OB/GYN told me today that if you trigger OVulation on CLomid that its 14-16 days to AF from then, if it doesn't come then test.............
She says when Ovulation is known to have happened you should get your AF then.....otherwise its good news :O)

Theresep - I am so hoping you have luck this cycle, lots of positive vibes going your way. Well I had my appointment with my FS last week and we are going with another unmonitored cycle this month. He didn't seem to think it neccessary in my case!!!! I don't know I would have liked to make sure everything is going to plan. Hes recommended only another 1 cycle after this then having a 2 month break before I see him again. Trying to conceive since May 2007 but turned out after going off the pill my ovaries were suppressed (usually corrects itself within 6 months however 8-9 months and no period therefore no chance of babies). He put me on Clomid to kick start ovulation and help with the TTC, so hes hopeing that after a few cycles on Clomid I may resume O nuturally. But just have to wait and see. I really hope this cycle or next is successful as not sure what will happen when I stop it and it may just delay things even further!!!!!!! I guess hes going with the least intrusive option and as I have been O on 50mg Clomid he is happy with this result. The only other thing I forgot to ask my FS was the fact that I have not yep got a positive on any OPK, but according to chart have ovulated????

I am defini:ptley not pregnant. My cycle started today. Need to speak to GP about next cycle on clomid - liver levels are playing up. Might need to wait a month. Thankyou you both for your message. I am trying for my first at 40. Been trying for 4 years. I am sure it should work soon. Fingers crossed I need to keep postive.
Hi Kristen - hope you're ok with the non monitoring of your cycle - but i guess if your FS is confident that all is well, then you have to trust them .... maybe if no luck this cycle, then for your peace of mind, insist on it with the next. I never had any luck with OPK's! Tried them a few times, and nothing, so stopped bothering with them!
I've had some acupuncture this afternoon, which was really positive - i could feel some wheels turning in the lower abdomen, so :crossfingers:!
We must be at similar stages, i too have a busy week next week! Come on O!! :dh::sperm::egg::ttc:

Kristen: Good luck with another unmonitored cycle. I have never got a + on a OPK and have to get trigger shots as I don't seem to O on my own, although as you said that you used to O naturally maybe your Dr just wanted to clomid to kick start it again. Fingers crossed for you.
Well AF started on Tuesday (when I was in Sydney for work) and was extremely painful, which is generally the case for me when O happens. I have been told that I can only take Panadeine (pain relief) & Buscopan (muscle relaxant) to help with the pain but not really helping much. So anyway started taking 25mg yesterday and am booked in for scan next Friday 15th (day 11) and from there will work out when trigger will be needed.

hi girls, i am new in this tread, just wondering if any of you can help me, my gp is sending me to a FS as i have not had a period now for 56 days, could any of you please help me in what i am expected when i see the fertility specialist, i have never had to do this before, your help would be most appreciated... It also looks like i might have to go on clomid as well, is there any side effects while being on clomid and also can we still fall pregnant being on this...

Welcome, don't be too scared about seeing the FS they are generally really helpful and will answer any of your concerns. All they will want to know is about your cycle, how long you have been TTC and a history of your problems to put you on the right path. Sometimes they might want to do a Laproscopy to make sure that there is no problems on the inside, but don't be scared of this as it is always better to know if there is anything there and to treat it, rather than let it go unchecked.
As for Clomid, we are all taking this to try and get pregnant. Clomid is taken early in your cycle for around 6 days to help stimulate a follicle to grow, the dosage you take will probably start at a low level, either 25mg - 50mg to see if this works. You may get scanned at around days 10-14 to see if the follicle is at a good size (generally 20mm) and then wait for O, which depending on your cycle can vary from days 14 - 18. As you mentioned you have not had a period for 56 days (not uncommon, I would go for anywhere up to 8 mths without one) you might find that you are prescibed Provera (or similar) to bring on a period. This is a progesterone drug which makes your body have a period. As for the side effects, Clomid seems to affect us all differently, I get an increased Body Temp and bloating, some girls get headaches and others get vision disturbances or a combination of any of these, but they generally subside once O has happened.

Just been reading the previous posts and already i feel a bit more at ease. My husband and i have been trying to conceive baby #2 since october last year expecting it all to happen first go (as this was the case with 1st bub) after not getting a period for 3 months went to gyno and found out my overies dont work. (they cant explain "medically" how i fell with our son). Anyway after MANY tests tomorrow is the big day of starting clomid. Im so nervous about the side effects, everything. Ant tips success stories??

hey everyone, my name is Hollye and im new to this. i have been diagnosed with pcos and docs started me on metformin which left me feeling quite ill so now im on my first cycle of clomid. everything seems to be going ok, apart from feeling abit of nausa and fatigue. My skin also seems to be breaking out. Does anyone else have this problem on clomid? Im now at day 17 of my cycle and am going for my bloodtest this thursday, hopefully i have ovulated this month. Around when i was meant to be ovulating on day 14 is when i started to break out and get hot flushes and some pain around where my ovaries would be. But im not sure what this could be. Rosa, Hollye and Tryinglikecrazy - hi and welcome - goodluck with your current cycles :goodluck:. Hollye, i've not had the breakouts or hot flushes, but have had the feelings around my ovaries at ovulation - i just imagine them working hard at maturing a good egg!
Hi Pitapata - do you need the metformin if your cycles have been doing ok? Maybe have a chat with your FS and consider their opinion. I know it's always good to feel as if you are doing something to help with a BFP, and i guess if it will increase your chances then perhaps go for it. All the best :crossfingers:.

Well, i had alot of hope that this cycle would be it, now that we know i ovulate every 2nd cycle, so was due for an ovulation, but alas, something else has entered the equation :wall:... last cycle, while having a scan, my FS picked up on what he thought was a 'persistent cyst' (which begins life as a follie, but doesn't breakdown and go away like dud follies should) so, yep you guessed it, the cyst has indeed 'persisted' :rolleyes: , and now is nearly 5cm, and has to be 'burst', so it can then bugger off (!) and let me get on with ttc. As it is now, it can release it's own hormones, which interfere with any other follies maturing. So will have it burst in a couple of weeks time, then i think my FS will have me do another clomid cycle..... the rollercoaster continues....:boohoo:
