Parental leave for baby no. 2

Just wondering if anyone knows do you have to be back at work for a certain period of time before going on maternity leave and receiving the government paid parental leave???

Yes. You have to meet the work test again (having worked ten months of the 13 prior to edd, no period of more than 8 weeks between work days etc). There are changes coming where if you have bubs very close together (13 months max gap I think but it may be slightly more) you don't need to return to work/meet test again. But as it stands now, you do need to, otherwise you are looking at baby bonus for the moment (and increased ftba for first few month from next year)

I guess best thing to do is call centerlink and ask I only returned to work for 10 weeks and only 10 hrs a week but due to my reasons for doing so I was able to be eligible because I was still technically on a 20 hr a week contract

Yep, my DH missed out because he went back to work in June, and DS2 was born in March - so it was just under the 10 of 13 months...

So we took the baby bonus instead.
