Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Yay sounds like there's been lots of good things going on.
Congrats Teeki, you must be very nearly finished now.
Hope the leave is all sorted now TT40!
MN sounds like a great decision. Enjoy!
OP, sounds like a good plan. I hope he took it ok and approved it for you.
wysiwyg, sounds like a good decision. Hope you're not whinging about not having a job too soon :)
Afm: My little boy was born a couple of weeks ago :) Everyone's doing wonderfully. My older boy is loving having his little baby brother around :)
Only negative at the moment is I need to write some job applications and I'd very much rather just be enjoying my new little man, sleeping, playing with my bigger boy or doing housey things. Oh well if you want the job you've got to apply...
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
And I got the sack. While he tells me it's cause there doesn't look to be enough work to fill the days I know the real reason is cause my kids jeep getting sick and I have to stay home cause DH is working away. Now I don't believe his reason as just last thurs I had my performance review and all was great and adding a 3rd day in the new year.
Just sucks to bad this close to xmas :(
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
I'm so sorry this has happened to you, BD  :comfort:
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Thanks Nutter. He was a jerk
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Oh no BD that's awful
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Oh no BD :(
Were you still in the probation period?
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
=( that bites the big one BD
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
My year of maternity leave has coming to an end, and as I was made redundant before going on leave it's time to look for a new job. I've applied for a few and already had a couple of nibbles, just a matter of finding the right role.
One sounds like it would be the perfect job - and 3 days a week which is hard to come by, but it's sounds like I may have missed the boat but keeping my fingers crossed!
Definitely need yo find the right company!

Oh no BD :(
Were you still in the probation period?
Yep by a week
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Some bosses really are complete jerks.
DH returned to work once after a 3 week holiday, to find that the DAY after he went on leave, they put his "your sacked" papers in his pigeon hole - at work. Where they had to give him three weeks notice.
So he got back from leave, to learn that he had no job.
Whereas if they'd been adults about it, he could have used his 3 weeks of leave to look for a frecking job.
Maybe they wanted to be nice and let him enjoy his holiday - or maybe they're asshats.
Sounds like your boss is one too.
Working Mummies Support Group #2
:( how horrible for him to lead you on in your performance review then do that to you.
Big hugs.
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
BD - that really really sucks!
OP - did your switch get approved?
I have agreed to work for three more weeks at current place, doing something slightly different which should be more useful - that takes me up to Christmas. Have sorted out DD finishing at CC from the 12th of Dec when she goes away with my folks, and dropped DS down to two days from then until last week of January. It feels like the right decision ( I am sure even if job came up they could wait till end of Jan for me - 4 weeks is fairly standard). Will do a holiday swim program with DD in Jan - have always wanted to do one, as have heard good things about them but never worked out before due to me working.
I am off to a conference tomorrow to try and get some more insights into useful areas to try and get into and make some contacts - hope it will be good.
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Got my mid-year review tomorrow, ladies.
Wish me luck!
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
Sounds like a good plan wysiwyg
Good luck peanutter!
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
BD - that is really crappy :(
wysiwyg - have fun at the conference
PN - hope your review was awesome
I have 2 weeks left of work, I am having a mental health day today, its just mind numbingly boring now. I have nothing to do all day, its worse than being busy, the days just drag. But hey, I get paid for it.
Have applied for a job at one of the universities. Management role, and its 10 mins from home - Fingers crossed. The application was mammoth - had to write up responses to 7 essential criteria (300-500 words each), but its done and submitted. One of my friends at the Uni reviewed it and she's confident I'll get an interview. Fingers Crossed!
Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
What is wrong with people? One week left on probation, six weeks before Christmas? BD, so sorry you're in this position now :( What are you thinking you'll do now?
PN, how did you review go? I think we need lunch, I miss you.
Nyigi, Sahbear, good luck with job applications!
MN, mental health days are gooood. Enjoy. I can't imagine what your work must be like. Ghost town.
Wysiwyg, enjoy the conference. Glad you've got a plan.
AFM, I'm really struggling. I've been staying away cuz I feel like I just come in here and whinge and at least I have a job? Why am I whinging? But I hate it. Oh, it's fine when I'm here, even if it is pretty boring and sooo technically dry it's doing my head in. And I'm getting paid. I'm keeping our family afloat.
But I hate it. I don't want to be here. I haven't done a kinder run in weeks. I've no idea how DS1 is going at kinder. I've barely made it to school - I only get to do two days and mostly DH does the pick ups if he's coming home. I hate it. I always wanted to be a mum who ran around after their kids. They do my head in on my days off, but I'd rather be there, with them. I can't organise playdates because there's no time.
I can't really do anything different to what I'm already doing so please don't feel like I need advice on how to change things, I'd just love some hugs.

Re: Working Mummies Support Group #2
BD - how are you going?
MN: good luck for the uni position!! Sorry to hear that things are not great in the grind down at work -- not having productive work to get along with is no fun.
Wysiwyg: happy schmoozing! Glad the 3 extra months is a good fit :)
Nyigi: thanks, hun :)
OP: Lunch, definitely. FB me some dates? I miss you too  My review went ok (round 1 of 2) wish me luck for the next round! I'm sorry your work is sucking at the moment. Big fact squooshy hugs. I get wanting to have more time with the kids, I really do ... I'm glad you aren't after any solutions, because I have NONE. [/QUOTE]
AFM, I've had 1.5 days off work, trying to get better. Still just have pollution on the lungs from overseas, and my lower lungs aren't looking crash hot ... Dr said to rest - so I was at home, a bit of gardening, a bit of reading and rest, etc. Had the kinder market on Friday, so that was good, to take the DSs there and help DS1 get a bit more familiar with it ... It's the kinder AGM next week, and I'm aiming to be there, but it's really tough to get out early enough ... ! I'm hoping for it, though. To buy one of the uniform t-shirts, if nothing else :happydance:
