I am a bit flustered at the moment. I had GD with both my older boys (10 and 12 years old) and had my GTT at 26 weeks with this pregnancy. When I called for the results I was told they were all normal.
8 weeks on I am at my 34 weeks check up when I am whisked off by the diabetes Dr and educator plus the dietician because based on my history, my age (31) and the fact I am needing to keep the baby small so I can attempt a VBAC, one of my numbers was high after all.....
thing is I don't think it was?
My fasting was 4.5 so that was great
my 1 hr was 7.7 and the two hr was 6.8.....
Now the one hour is the one they are saying is to high and classifies me as GD???
According to the Dr it should be under 7.5 but according to Diabetes Australia anything under 8 in completely normal.
They are getting me to test 4 times a day. My post meal reading have been in the 5's to 6's and I have had one reading in the past 4 days that was over 7.5 ( it was 7.7) and that was because I deliberately ate a large carb meal to see what it would be...... now again according to diabetes Australia that is a perfectly normal result but the paper work from the hospital classes it as abnormal.
I go back to see the Dr on Wednesday and will question him on all this but wanted to get some feedback from other pregnant women who do have GD on what their hospital considers normal BSL?
