Am considering doing this. Havent had my testing down yet. Was thinking of going with Medownick.
Has anyone done it.
Im scared if it hurts, and if it gets botched up.

I had it done a few years ago and I have to say it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Im so happy with it! No more glasses or contacts~ just FREEDOM
Like you, I was a bit scared, but it was very worthwhile
Good Luck!
Best thing I have EVER done. It didn't hurt. It was just a bit uncomfortable at first during the procedure. I could see as soon as they had finished and I sat up off the bed. Go for it!!
Been also thinking about doing this when not pg or bfing. (sorry I'm going to hijack thread for a bit)
Does it cost a lot (ie how much should I be saving for - ballpark figure)?
Does phi cover any?

It cost me about $5500 but that was 6 years ago. It wasn't covered by private health but I could claim a certain amount on tax over $1500 or something like that. Good luck with it! Your eyesight has to have been stable for 2-3 years too ie it can't be getting worse.
It was a few years ago for me too, but it was about $5000 (and worth every cent!)
And as MadScientist said, you get some back in tax.
Some PHI's will cover part of it, you would have to shop around and weigh it up, depends on their waiting periods too I guess.
It doesn't hurt having the actual procedure (I had numbing drops and a valium), its just a bit uncomfortable and then your eyes are sore for a few days, but it is amazing walking out and being able to see PERFECTLY (almost straight away!)
The best part for me is being able to go to the beach/pool and be able to swim and see at the same time! LOL!
And there is no carrying around day (sunglasses) and night glasses, the freedom is fantastic
Eyes have been pretty much stable for the last 4 years or so - minor changes in script for contacts mainly due to swapping brands and then it goes back to original script (eg -4.5 to -4.75 and back) mainly due to mild astigmatism.
I guess it's time to start seriously saving for a couple of years time after the next bub is weaned.
