    Question about Valium

I have 5mg Valium. Usually I'll only take 1, which takes the edge off my anxiety. Sometimes if it's really bad I'll take 2, which knocks me out. For example, I don't remember the plane taking off when we came home from Melbourne, because they had knocked me so far out.

Last night things were VERY bad, so I took 3. I figured it was safe enough because you can get 10mg tablets as well, and I didn't want to be waking up in the middle of the night, because there was a strong possibility I'd attempt something stupid. I took them all at 10pm, and woke up at 6am this morning as normal. No hangover, no grogginess - but I do feel more stable than yesterday.

Can anyone in the know tell me why it's done that?

    :

I can't give you any medical advice, however I can give you a hug, and hope that whatever is causing you problems gets better soon .

  3. Question about Valium

    :

    Because you're still sedated.

    :

    Why aren't I asleep then?!

  5. Question about Valium

    :

Because most of it has been excreted or metabolised so you still have enough left in your system to sedate you but not enough to make you unconscious.

Hun, everything ok? I hope whatever got to you last night is quickly resolved

  7. Question about Valium

    :

Valium isn't designed to put you to sleep, but to relax you. It will put you to sleep if you have enough though. So my answer is the same as onyx, its just still in your system and working on relaxing you. I imagine it will begin wearing off soon.

  8. Question about Valium

    :

I found that too with my anxiety. I just wish it wasn't so hard to get a prescription for. I would only take it very intermittently and it worked well for me. I had bad reactions to SSRI meds so TBH I would probably function better on Valium. If you ensure you take it intermittently at low doses that is fine - unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor/s.

  9. Question about Valium

    :

Hun, please don't change or play around with the dosage unless directed by a doctor xoxox It's really important that your following the correct dosage and staying informed with your doctor about how your feeling and how it's working. xoxox

  10. Question about Valium

    :

My doctor didn't give me a dosage, he literally just said to take as needed. He's not a very good doctor, I was only going to him because he's the only one in the area who bulk bills. I'm not even on antidepressants at the moment, because the Zoloft weren't working and he won't put me on anything else, he says my psychiatrist will do that, but I don't see him til the 20th. I'm basically on my own, figuring it out as I go along. Status quo, really.

  12. Question about Valium

    :

It isn't a very high dose. But I would take as less as what you can iykwim.

I always find with a lot of medications I often cut pills or the dosage in half for myself, but that is just me. Obviously not with antibiotics though.

DH has valium every now and then for anxiety. He reckons he wakes up feeling fantastic everytime he takes them. Though I do crack it when he decides to have a few beers as well! then it's all googly stoned looking eyes
