What sort of tests did you use Calluna?
Eta - he could have just meant that your levels were low. My clinic (along with most other clinics) don't count a pregnancy until your HCG is over 100. I have had a couple of what they call chemical or clinical pregnancies where I got positive HPTs and my HCG was higher than 0 but they didn't count as pregnancies in the doctor's eyes.
I know it still hurts though. You thought you were pregnant and now you aren't :(
FRER. Both from different batches in case that makes a difference?
FRER will pick up a HCG level of 5, which is very low. It is likely that your egg fertilised but didn't implant.
Maybe, but I had brown blood at 8dpo.
And the bleeding was nothing like a normal period. Clots, heavier, more sporadic. Normal cramps for me are more intense, down my legs, rectal stabbyness, but only last 12 - 24 hours. This time it was all in my back and abdomen, lasted for the whole 8 days I was bleeding and even after I stopped cramping I was really tender and sore. I still get the odd one now if I do too much and I havent had a drop of blood since.
Its never been like this before...
Im so confused
If your egg fertilised your body would immediately start producing more progesterone and estrogen which thickens the uterine lining (in order to create a placenta). Your period would be different due to those extra hormones.
Unfortunately there is no real way of knowing :( And, I guess at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. You are mourning what you thought would be another child to love. That's what is hard.
Thanks N2L. I appreciate your insight.
It doesnt really matter I guess. I just feel like a nut. Childish and stupid. Stupid that I was naive enough to not be sceptical of the first test, to let myself believe that I was pregnant and that it would survive.
You know what? You're not a nut. You are just a mum who wants another child to love. Nothing wrong with that at all.
It's a horrible realisation that pregancy and childbirth isn't as easy or as straightforward as we are all led to believe it is. I mean, you're meant to have unprotected sex, get pregnant and have a baby 40 weeks later. For some it is that easy, but most women have a harder road; some with infertility, others with miscarriages, chromosomal problems or late losses.
It's a realisation I wish no one had to have.
Sometimes I feel like a naive idiot keeping going with IVF against the odds. But I'm not, and neither are you.
I really hope you can feel better soon and that one day in the very near future you are celebrating a sticky pregnancy.
Take care x
Thank you, N2L. You're right, I know you are.
Well, if I didnt feel like I needed therapy before today, I do now!
I'm so so sorry the Dr is so insensitive, huge hugs x
Your dr sounds insensitive. I've never heard of a false positive. There's either HGC present, or not. It sounds a lot like the egg didn't implant, so was a chemical pregnancy. Key word here is pregnancy! That doesn't mean this little potential life didn't matter at all. I felt pretty gutted after my first chem, despite it being terrible timing.
 Like I said, it's ok to feel however the heck you want to feel. Don't let anyone stomp on your right to mourn the loss of your baby, and your innocence.
Give that little red heart a big squeeze and remember I am thinking of you! xo
Oh honey, what a ahem........&&)&&$$&(@@;/) that Dr sounds like.
There is no such thing as a false positive on a pg test (so long as it is not from a really dodgy Internet supplier) they are designed so that it is impossible.
Big big hugs
Thanks girls. I just wanted some validation and all I got was an arrogant ***** telling me my baby never existed.
I feel differently now. Keep changing my mind about whether or not I was pregnant. Rationally I know I was on some level, but it's hard to believe when someone who is supposed to be educated about this stuff tells you it never happened. One minute I'm grieving my loss, the next I feel like an idiot and like I should be fine cause "it never happened".
What a head ****.
I really feel like getting smashed and allowing myself to forget for a while, but it would be a slippery slope. I get addicted to things very easily. I can't allow myself to do that.

Should have been 6 weeks +2 today.
Should have been having a scan.
Should have been seeing a heartbeat.
Should have been happy, excited and nervous.
Should have been sick.
Instead I have nothing.
I am nothing.
Just empty and broken.
I cant eat. I cant sleep. I cant cry. I cant laugh without being reminded of what I've lost - 2 weeks ago today.
Hugs Calluna
Huge huge hugs x
