Nikki, My heart goes out to you. I am fighting back tears, although I do not really know how you feel. It must feel like your heart has been torn out.

Just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care and hope you got some answers from the Drs. Are they going to look into it/do some tests?

    What can I say

Thank you all SO MUCH for your kind words.

I never actually shed a tear until I start reading these replies & I become a blabbering mess. As we never told anyone except for my mum it has been hard to express my pain.

My Dr has been a real sweetheart, he said no woman should have to go thru 3 m/cs before they do any tests, so he has referred me on to have some tests done now.

Re: D&C, he said the decision was mine but if my body has not expelled the tissue in the next 2 weeks then some medical intervention may be needed. I have decided to wait out the 2 weeks & see what happens. We are not in any rush to start TTC again.

Spending BIG CYBER KISSES for all your thoughts & support

Glad to hear that your Dr is looking out for you & doing some tests. Hope you get some answers. Also hope that things work out well for you with the natural waiting & that there is no need for medical intervention.

Hope we can help in any way that you need us, we will support you no matter what.

Take care of yourself & sending loads of hugs your way.

Nikki, I am so very sorry that you have to go through this. A loss is never easy, as too many of us know, but I know how much this one meant to you.
If you need to talk, I am always around, but I'm sure you know that we are all here for you.
I think particularly with a blighted ovum other members of the family don't know quiet how to react, as in there eyes, there was "no baby". (At least that was my experience, sorry if I'm assuming wrong.) I believe however, that there was a baby, at the point of conception a new life begins and the loss is as real as any other. The dissapointment and grief is just as real as in a "normal" miscarriage, as you know. You sound as though you are being very strong, but I hope you have some support over the next few weeks.
Your doc seems to have answered your question, but I'll let you know my experience. Like you I started spotting early on. I had several scans between 5-8 weeks, all of which showed an empty sac. I was determined to avoid a D&C (as I was scared) but the bleeding got quite heavy and a further scan showed the sac was still growing. My body was hanging on to that pregnancy in spite of itself. So my doc strongly recommended a D&C at 9 weeks. I wasn't happy about it but by then I just wanted it all to be over as I was getting so stressed out.
The procedure itself was not a problem, I don't know why I resisted so much, no pain and hardly any bleeding. I guess you will make your own decision in the next week or two anyway. If you have any questions, please ask. 8-[

Lots of love to you Nikki,

    Hi Nikki,

I just did a user search to find you, i wondered where you were and was hoping you'd moved onto the Pregnant Boards.

I'm so sorry Nikki. So sorry. I have been away for a long while, i hoped you were pregnant, i didn't for a moment think you'd have to suffer this again.

I suffered a blighted ovum in June 2002. I didn't have a D&C, i passed the "products of conception" myself, the day i lost my pregnancy was the day i found out i was pregnant. The choice is yours, if you can't stand to wait, have it done, if you don't want to be messed about with, leave it be for a while.

I want to re-iterate what some others have said. There WAS a baby. YOu have lost a child. At the point when the sperm hit the egg, you had a little baby in there, it didn't get together enough to grow, but it was still a life. Without the spark of life there can be no sac, no ovum.

It's good that your doctor is sending you for tests. I really hope that what they'll find is that you have just been unlucky and that very soon you will be expecting a healthy baby.

    Take care.

    Love and a huge :hugs:

I am just so sorry to hear your sad news. My heart goes out to you. I am sending you a huge . You need to look after yourself and do what is right for you.

I had a D & C after my m/c and i didn;t really have time to get my head around the emotional impact it would have. The ob said "you are miscarrying - you must have this op NOW" (i am never going back to him cos i feel he really pushed me into it. He was also an insensitive pig on my follow-up visit so i will never be going back to him again!). So i was pregnant one minute and literally not the next minute. The shock was unbelievable.

If you choose to have a D & C, i am glad you have had time to consider the idea. Once you deal with the emotional side of it, it really may be a good thing.

All my love to you (even though i am a newbie and you don't really know me - i am still feeling your pain).
    Lots of love,
    Shazz xo.
