Two hourly changes should be fine :) I would try a strip wash, or even just a couple of washes on 60. Apparently you shouldn't use dishwashing liquid if you ahve a front loader? Also, maybe try washing every two days. That's what we normally do, but if I leave them longer than that for any reason, they REALLY stink LOL.
You should really have no use for Napisan. Line drying in the sun will get rid of any stains and the fresh air and sunlight would kill any remaining bacteria the wash didn't.:

Poo nappies? Just a normal wash? Yes, has happened on occasion but I thought it would be yicky. Also, line drying only happens about a third of the time. I do try to get it in the sun when possible, but I live in the land of rain so is it still OK to not line-dry and not use something strong in the wash?
I hate stinky nappies ! We find that it is only when DD is teething that it becomes a big problem but does happen at other times as well. If all of her nappies are smelly I do a strip wash (hot with double rinse and a little bit of washing liquid) Our normal washing routine is to do a rinse, then a wash with half a cap of purity and extra rinse and either line dry or dryer dry.
oh we also soak in cold water which is good for getting the smell out of the fitteds in our nappy buckets at all times
Hemp is our biggest culprit and fitteds are worse then pockets etc. not sure why
Do you not have a Little Squirt to squirt off the poo? I do this, then run the nappy under some water in the laundry tub and rub it together, which removes any remaining discolouration and then it's "clean" and goes into the bucket with the rest of the wet nappies. I actually hardly ever line dry mine. I've never had a stain on my nappies other than purple panadol stains and I put them on an inside line in the laundry to dry, especially in winter. In summer, I'll throw them outside, as it's dries much faster.:

sez i have a front loader and no probs so far!!
i also find if i dont remove the washing from the machine straight after washing and hang up, they tend to get smelly too!!!
Talking about Napisan!- I've always thought it was a big no no too. But I read something interesting the other day on a nappy site. The owner recommended using Napisan (or a similar BICARB based product) to do the a strip wash. Which meant soaking them overnight in it. Then doing a rinse with Canesten Laundry rinse or Dettol Fresh. And do this every 1 or 2 weeks..Interesting technique I thought (This lady makes PUL pockets).
Both the BBH & BumGenius websites suggest not using Napisan at all. Check out their website Boomba, they have a section there on how to care for your nappies.
When I'm rinsing nappies I use either the shower head or the loo flush and the majority of the poo comes off - sometimes there's a bit left on and there's sometimes a LOT of discolouration that takes the sun to bleach off. I only use water for that.
When I was using paper liners, when DS was a tiny baby, I'd throw nappies in with normal white washing no problem, just wash it in normal powder at 60 degrees. But now there are stinky-poo nappies I like to know they're hygienic.
Having said that, I'm going to stop using the napisan unless DS gets a severe case of diarrhoea!
