Can anyone recommend a tandem pram for a 2 year old and new born? I'm only 15 weeks so i have a while to work it out but my son will be 2 by the time i have this baby.
Also it would be preferable if it cost less then $400 .. Thanx =D

I'd like some recommendations too. As I will have a 20 month old as well when this bub is born.
My sister was in this boat - she bought the Valco Runabout.
I've also seen Steelcraft Take 2 I think it's called? Both of these have a removeable toddler seat in front of the baby.
the problem with the Take 2 strider is there is no shade for the toddler .. or if he wants a nap he cant lie down .. i was thinking something more along the lines of this .. Love n Care Hi-Rise Tandem Pram - Destiny - Prams & Strollers - DealsDirect.com.au Australia .. but i'm still searching =D
A friend of mine had twins, she began with a tandem in front, but found them to long and to hard to manouvere around the shops.
Then she bought a side by side, its a Swallow Duetto (bought from babyco, I think around $400) she thought it was great compared to the others she had seen because it wasnt as bulky or wide but would suit a toddler to, and it folded well to fit in a sedan boot. Some tandems will not fit in a sedan.
She has now bought a side by side 3 wheeler (I think sometimes she just like to spend money) because she reckons its fits in the back of the 4wd easier, but honestly I look at it and wonder how a 2 or 3 year old will fit, the front of the seats come in so narrow.
Also be cautious that some prams that have the add on toddler seats, be it on the front or on the back, the toddler seat may only go up to a certain weight for safety reasons.
I will have a 21mth old and a newborn, I was really considering the Steelcraft Strider Plus Strider Plus, over all the others I have researched and played with. I didnt mind the Phil and Teds or the Valco but the prices are really out there, definetly way over 400 compared to some other tandems and the Strider.
But the friend of mine with the side by side gave it to me for nothing, so I am happy with that.
I've got a Strider Plus, costs a bit more than your $400 budget, but includes the toddler seat and all the accessories. Both seats have a shade canopy and the sun and rain covers cover both seats. Both seats recline so toddler can lay back for a sleep too. There is lots of space between the two seats too and you get some adapters to make the top seat sit slightly higher so there is even more space. The shopping basket is a good size and you can access it from the front and sides of the pram. It's easy to maneouvre and folds easily even with both seats attached. So far, I'm really happy with it.
One of the little problems I had with it was that I didnt think I could use the capsule on it (I really like our current travel system) with the toddler in the back cause there seemed to not be enough head height.
Do you know if the adaptors work with the capsule? I havent seen them anywhere, where did you see? Now my brain is ticking over about gettin the pram again.
i have a valco something lol i like the side be sides better and ive goe through a few...i find it when the front child gets to big in the forward ones its hard to turn and ou can get a side b side that fits throgh the doorway....ou do have to use disabled lanes but its not that big a deal
Studymum, the adapters automatically came with the pram. The previous versions of the strider don't seem to fit it as the clip joins are different. They sell a capsule for the plus which only faces inwards towards you.
I have DD in the bottom seat because it lays flatter than the main seat.
The adaptor comes when you purchase the toddler seat, not when you buy the pram.
Thanks Peachface, that makes sense. I bought the pram and toddler seat all at once because that's what I needed so everything all came together.
Hi all, I recently purchased the strider plus as I have an 8 week old and a 17 month old. My girlfriend told me about the pram as I was complaining about my P&T pram that my eldest could sleep in the seat when I had my baby in it. The strider plus is fantastic. Both my kids can sleep and are very comfortable in it. The pram is also very easy to use compared to other prams I have had and the storage basket is a good size too. Another girlfriend of mine was also in my situation and had a limo style pram which she ended up selling as it was useless and went for the P&T.
Thanks girls, I like the look of the Strider Plus, I might go for that one. Hopefully somewhere will have them on sale when I want to buy it.
I am in the process of buying a Baby Jogger City Elite. They have a toddler seat that attaches so will work as a normal stroller first. They are Exxy though but if your interested I have a website in the US that you can order through. It does work out cheaper even with the excessive price of post to order from there especially as the Aus $ is so good at the moment.
OR check out the names of prams your interested in on Ebay you may get a bargin on something second hand.
best of luck

Hi Leigh26, I got mine on special from babykingdom in Sydney, however there was another website, pramwarehouse, that had the strider plus & baby seat on special.
