    Tetra Snugglebed or similair?

I've had a look at the tetra snugglebeds and i think that they are way to squishy to put a newborn in. Is it entirely safe? Also does anyone know of similair sorts of things to put in a cot for a newborn baby?

The first years safe and secure sleeper is the only other similair thing i've found and i like it a lot better .. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/the-...ecure-sleeper/

Has anyone used the tetra snugglebed or know of anything similair? thanx

Yep, we use it for the first 4 or so months. Absolutely loved it. Yes it is snuggly and squishy, and that is why it worked so well for us. We co-sleep however, so he was always right next to me and I was feeding him constantly around the clock so was always able to check on him. If he were in another room, I think I would have been too paranoid of him rolling and something happening. Likewise, if he slept through the night (has never happened!), I would be constantly checking on him. They are good for day sleeps and as a portable bed.

My nephew had one (who is just off 10 now!) and loved it, but when it came to me having a little one I really looked into it and was told by a midwife it wasn't safe and to steer well clear of them, which I did. I got exactly that in the picture!! It was also great that I could take it anywhere as it easily folded so DD always felt as though she was in her own bed.

You can buy them all over the place! All the baby store have them, as well as Kmart, Target etc, but I got mine brand new off ebay. Was a great buy in my oppinion.

we had a tetra snugglebed with DD10.. was fantastic. she was a summer bub, and she would nap in it during the day. we took it with us to my parents that year at christmas (super hot) and she slept in it beautifully. We loved that it was portable, and we could wash the cover as well.

We had a first years safe & secure sleeper. We only used for day naps until DS outgrew it & started rolling. It was great as it was much more comfy for him then being put on the floor or in the pram. He slept much better and we could keep him near us to keep an eye on him. We took it with us when we went out to someone's place. I never used it overnight.

That sounds great! I think I might look at getting one for our next bub.

Is it safe to buy them 2nd hand?

I don't know about buy it second hand. I had one with my 4th DD but she was a bad sleeper not the snugglebeds fault. I think it worked fine. I do prefer a bassinet to the snugglebed so have got a bassinet so I can have bub in my room beside the bed.

I had a tetra mattress in DS's bassinet (I didn't know about the snugglebeds 15 years ago!) and also bought him the pillow for when he was older in a cot. I bought it on recommendation from one of my cousins. We were in QLD at the time and it was hot, but the mattress seemed to stay cool, and the air can flow through it - it's breathable (if that makes sense?!).

We used the First Years Safe and Secure sleeper when DS was nb in our bed co-sleeping. It didn't last long though, he grew so quickly and he was falling off the scales! But it is definitely a good start.

If you don't like the Tera SNugglebed cause its squishy, try the Babyhood Breathe Eze Cosy Crib. Its the same idea but definitely more firm.

We had a safe and secure sleeper, and it was good to go in the cot when she was little, kept her "enclosed" like a bassinette but we didn't have to worry about it. Useless for co-sleeping unless you have a king bed or just you and bub sleep in a double as it takes up so much room!!!!
She only fit in it for about 6 weeks though.

We wanted a snuggle bed but like you we wanted to buy it for the security, I thought it looked to squishy.

    Wink

We have a snuggle bed and DD loves it and sleeps in it for her night sleeps. Yes they are squishy but not like a soft doona iykwim it kind of moulds to her shape in a way, the stuffing is bark so totally breathable.
TBH DD will be out of it before she can roll over she is almost touching both ends. I have the snuggle bed lying in her cot and she has slept peacefully for up to 10 hrs straight. I don't know te other one your talking about but believe me when i say there is no way i would put dd in something that i believed to be unsafe - we have been through far too much to have her.

love them and cannot speak high enough about it.

    Nae x

Nae, I did alway think they were more like a doona which I think is why we steered clear of them, but no doubt they are safe. I think had I actually been able to find one to touch and feel I'd have a better idea of what they actually are lol

Yeah I was unsure so I brought one on ebay that was a second hand one. I figured I could always give it to the cat if it was too squishy but I was surprised how firm they actually are when the bark in compacted - sort of like a tight bean bag?? hard to explain.

ahhh better go miss s is grizzling
