Hey, just a quick question, I have been ferning and in transitional ferning every day since I fully ferned. i am working on the fact that I am about 12dpo. Is it normal to continue ferning like this???

I thought it was a great concept and am still on the fence about it. The first month I saw distinct pebbles like the example they give you on the chart. But perhaps I didn't use enough saliva. AF came at day 26 of cycle (first cycle of the pill). Then this cycle I used more saliva and let it dry all day, and on day 8 I saw transitional ferning and then 2 days later full ferning. I checked it this morning, but i buggered it up by putting too much saliva on it and it had bubbles. i will try it again this evening as I have only been doing it in the morning. But according to info given, thre results were not accurate cause I left them too long. But I must admit i was having obvious ovulation cramps the same time the ferning appeared. I dont use any other methods. if nothing happens within the next 3 months then i will consider BBT and other options.
They do say though that if you dont produce a high enough amount of the hormone that it requires it will come up as inconsistant. So perhaps some of these inconsistant results are because the level of the hormones in your saliva is just not enough for it to read it correctly. But they say that if that is the case that it DOESN"T mean you have't ovulated, it basically means that MB is not a sensative enough testing option for you.

I have checked my MB yesterday and today and definatley no ferning or transitional. Just pebbles, so I can only assume it worked and it did actually indicate that I ovulated earlier than expected. I am praying we caught the egg, but part of me is feeling pretty good about it, but the other part of me is accepting the fact that it didn't happen this month. I pray I am like you and caught the egg first month. but in reality, this is only my 2nd cycle off the pill and my first AF only lasted 1 day, so I am expecting that my cycles are probably still trying to sort themselves out.
I have fingers and toes crossed though!

You are probably right. Your cycles are probably still sorting themselves out. If it is mean't-to-be this month, you just might have a little bubba on the way :)
I was off the pill for 3 or 4 months before we decided to start trying. My natural cycle is 31-32 days and the Maybe Baby showed that I ovulated on day 16 (exactly half way through!)
Oh, and remember to lay down afterwards with a pillow under your bottom to keep your pelvis tilted slightly upwards - makes it easier for the swimmers to go in the right direction :lol:.

I have never had a lot of success with Maybe Baby. Ferning all over the place, at the wrong times etc... I nearly threw it in the bin the other day, but I thought twice about it because it is so expensive. I'm very new to this. I am in dire need of some help. I started using maybe baby in sept 07, my periods are never the same, very very erratic.... My question is, I have just rescently finished my monthly but all the way through i got the fern pattern and i'm STILL getting them every day along with very tender breasts very slight niggles in my tummy and sometimes feeling nauseous. does any of this sound really strange to anyone else, or am i just being paranoid???
Ovulated according to maybe baby on the 2 of april, ferns from 30th march through till 9 april. then had no ferns until 12 april then got my monthly on the 13. its now the 22 april and ive had the ferns for the last 11 days. is there ANY possibility that i could be pregnant???

Bonkaz - curious as to how you are going? Reason is that the last time I used MB was when I fell pg last year. I had been using it everyday for the last 2 cycles and I usually got around a week of ferning (so it worked but was too hard to find the critial ovulation day) - but the month I fell pg I kept getting ferning until 12dpo when I finally found the courage to do a test and got a BFP. I only just saw you're post today, haven't checked this thread in a little while.
Hi there i have just started using maybe baby and i would guess that you ovulate when it first started occuring around half way of your cycle. Apparently you can show ferns a few times throughout your cycle but its only the one in the middle that matters. Also i have found inconsistencies when using it at night. It says to wait 3 hours after eating but even if i tested it 3 hours after eating (it would be what i think as wrong test) as it didnt match the morning one. The first test i did as soon as i bought it from the chemist after 3 hours of eating was showing partial ferning and i was only on day 10. The next day nothing.....just dots! Now i am on day 16, i tested last night after not eating for 3 hours and got partial ferning. Tested this morning and nothing....
So my opinion is only test in the mornings....

I used MB for about 6 months, ferns, no ferns, blobs, ferns and blobs. I had 2 blood tests recently and because of PCOS I don't even ovulate!!! IMHO MB is a bit...well, better not complete that sentence. Lets just say that if 2 blood tests say I don't ovulate and the MB says I am, then I'm a little skeptical. Good luck to you anyway.
Candy, I found that i had to let the saliva dry for at least 45 mins in order to get the correct result. hth
I found this in the Pharmacy and gave it a try. The 2nd month I realized that it looked the same when clean and after putting saliva on it. Luckily I had the receipt and the Pharmacy took it back. I was very unimpressed with the device. I found Clear Blue Easy much easier to use - however, I had to order it from the US and it is quite expensive - but it seemed to be accurate. However, we have discovered other issues and are just in the middle of our first IVF cycle - fingers crossed.
Hi everyone, Ive been using maybe baby for 5 months and found it co insides with other tests. This was the first cycle however of TTC and since ovulation (day 15) Ive been ferning. Really large black ferns. AF is due in 3 days so its a little early for a HPT. Has anyone else had this?, Could I be PG?:pray:. The ferns look like big crosses to me.I also test in the morning before breakfast and leave for around 30 mins.My breast are a little tender but they always get like that when AF is coming to town. Any thoughts would be great.

i have been using mb 4 2 months and ths month i ovalated on day 15 and now on day 26 period due 29 days my bbt is 97.7f and has been elevated for about 12 dys andi have had full ferning from day 21 jst wouding has any1 else had full ferning is it because period is nely due plz help???

Thank god I'm not the only one that cant get proper results from MB! Very dissapointed esp the amount of $$ it costs. I thought that there was something wrong with me!! I wouldn't recommend it

Fiona - sometimes it works for me other times it doesn't ...lucky I also chart my temps and check my CM otherwise just relying on MB won't help you...one of the girls here has recommended an OV Watch...google it...apparently it works but it costs money so haven't convinced myself yet that I need it...

I used MB for 3 cycles to get used to using it. I found that I had pebbles, transitional ferning for 2 days, ferning for 1 day, transitional ferning again for 1 day, pebbles; just like it says on the instructions. I realised that I was ovulating 3 days earlier than I thought which is useful to know! 4th cycle we decided 'get serious' and were successful first time around!:dance: BTW the ferning stayed and got darker after the initial ferning so I kind of knew I was pregnant even before we tested.
Let's just hope it's sticky....

I know have a MB and have only tested for 1 cycle and seems to be doing what it's suppose too. I am really just trying to confirm the timing as we would like blue dusting this time as we already know it sticks as we have 2 little pinkies already( Any baby would be perfect) Best of luck

IN SHORT - I found it a big waste of $$$ and would NOT recommend it.
When I first bought it and got it home I used it it seemed to work OK, but since then I haven't been able to get it to work for me - I've tried everything (different amounts of saliva, different times of the day, letting it dry longer than normal etc).. I am only ever getting blobs, or nothing at all!
I have just bought a 40pk Combination Pack from Oracle - :fingerscrossed: these one's tell me something useful!
This is my first month using a Fertile Focus saliva microscope. It is not the Maybe Mom but it has the same concept...just cheaper. I'm facinated by the product. But I've gotten ferning patterns in two stints this month. On CD 7-11 I had noticeable ferning and then it transitioned to non-fertile; I'm now on CD 15 and I got a non-fertile this morning, but I had egg white cervical mucous, so I re-tested and got ferning.
So I now wonder.....what is going on?? I read a study that was done in Canada that says ten percent of women ovulate twice or more per month and I'm wondering if I could be one of those women with 2 waves of ovulation. I just don't know.
I'm not going to throw in the towel yet, but I'm a little confused.

I am very new to this. Went off BCP 6 months ago and have not had AF since then. Have had constant ferning on my MB since I went off BCP. Have decided from all the ferning that I must have v. high oestrogen levels which is probably stopping me from ovulating. Decided to try 'Vitex' which apparently helps with oestrogen-progesterone balance. Have been using OPKs but still no sign of ovulation. My patience is starting to wear thin! Had a hormone BT today so hopefully that will shed some light on the subject.
Has anyone else had problems with constant ferning and no ovulation? If so, do you have a solution?
I purchased MB about 2mths ago and was not impressed with it at all I used it everyday as the instruction said to so as you can tell the changes and whether you are ovulating or not but through the cycle there was ferning appearing everywhere mostly only on half of the lens and when I was meant to be ovulating I was seeing dots it was so unpredictable I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Any suggestions on what does work????I am trying for a boy.:doh:

I too am struggling to figure it out. I seem to have ferning everyday without fail, it looks the same whether it's in the morning or evening, but I'm yet to see any dark full ferns. Well at least I think I am? I tried having a quick look on google the other day to see if I could find any examples of photos of what ferning looks like or something similar, but no luck. Does anyone know where I might find such a thing? Although, now that I'm writing this I suppose I could email 'Maybe Baby' and ask them.
I think I've now tried everything I can think of except for a fertility specialist. So perhaps I might have to give in and head down that route.

I've been using MB for about two months now, and this month, like last month, have had 'full on ferning' daily, since a few days after I thought I ovulated. That is, I had nothing, just rocks, then a few days of ferning, a few transition days, and then I've been ferning for about 4 days now. Has anyone else experienced this?
A friend of mine has been using it for the same amount of time and has only had one day in two cycles which looked to her anything like ferning, but nothing as clear as mine, so we are both pretty confused at this point. When you have it, though, ferning is very definite, but it does very much depend on the amount of saliva you put on the lens. Not too much, but more than a smear, and you do need to let it dry a lot longer on most days (depends how hot it is) than 10-15 mins. If you want to see some image examples of what ferning looks like, do a Google search for 'ferning' and then choose to limit the search to Images.
My husband also used the MB once and showed clear and strong ferning, so we're not sure whether testosterone also crystallises when dry in a fern pattern?!!
In any case, OPKs don't seem to give me a clear result, so I have just purchased a Clearblue Fertility Monitor (which analyses both LH and Estrogen) via Ebay and sure hope that it works as well as everyone says it does!

Hi All, I just bought this. Doesn't sound like it's had a good review. I'll give it a go though.
I was sold MB by an extremely enthusiastic lady in a pharmacy. She basically told me it was fantastic, so I was all excited when I bought it. I think it's rubbish, personally. At least, it doesn't seem to be working for me. I get full ferning on days that I know I'm not O'ing, and nada when I think I am! This month I used both MB and OPK to see if there was a difference, and got a positive with the OPK on day 18, around about when I'd expect it, and nothing from MB! I'm really disappointed in it, cos it sounds so good, and it's pretty expensive...
I had a similar experience with MB Erin. I used it before I tried to get pg with DS2, and in the end, I gave up on it and went back to OPK's (internet cheapies). I found OPK's to be FAR more accurate for me than the MB ever was. I found the MB just confused me, and I was a bit disappointed really considering how much I paid for it. I know I've probably spent far more on OPK's than I would've if I'd stuck with the MB, but if they give me a better result I'm happy to do that.:
