I purchased MB about 2mths ago and was not impressed with it at all I used it everyday as the instruction said to so as you can tell the changes and whether you are ovulating or not but through the cycle there was ferning appearing everywhere mostly only on half of the lens and when I was meant to be ovulating I was seeing dots it was so unpredictable I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Any suggestions on what does work????I am trying for a boy.:doh:
Perhaps I should have read looked into it a bit before buying a 'Maybe Baby'....
I too am struggling to figure it out. I seem to have ferning everyday without fail, it looks the same whether it's in the morning or evening, but I'm yet to see any dark full ferns. Well at least I think I am? I tried having a quick look on google the other day to see if I could find any examples of photos of what ferning looks like or something similar, but no luck. Does anyone know where I might find such a thing? Although, now that I'm writing this I suppose I could email 'Maybe Baby' and ask them.
I think I've now tried everything I can think of except for a fertility specialist. So perhaps I might have to give in and head down that route.

I've been using MB for about two months now, and this month, like last month, have had 'full on ferning' daily, since a few days after I thought I ovulated. That is, I had nothing, just rocks, then a few days of ferning, a few transition days, and then I've been ferning for about 4 days now. Has anyone else experienced this?
A friend of mine has been using it for the same amount of time and has only had one day in two cycles which looked to her anything like ferning, but nothing as clear as mine, so we are both pretty confused at this point. When you have it, though, ferning is very definite, but it does very much depend on the amount of saliva you put on the lens. Not too much, but more than a smear, and you do need to let it dry a lot longer on most days (depends how hot it is) than 10-15 mins. If you want to see some image examples of what ferning looks like, do a Google search for 'ferning' and then choose to limit the search to Images.
My husband also used the MB once and showed clear and strong ferning, so we're not sure whether testosterone also crystallises when dry in a fern pattern?!!
In any case, OPKs don't seem to give me a clear result, so I have just purchased a Clearblue Fertility Monitor (which analyses both LH and Estrogen) via Ebay and sure hope that it works as well as everyone says it does!

Hi All, I just bought this. Doesn't sound like it's had a good review. I'll give it a go though.
I was sold MB by an extremely enthusiastic lady in a pharmacy. She basically told me it was fantastic, so I was all excited when I bought it. I think it's rubbish, personally. At least, it doesn't seem to be working for me. I get full ferning on days that I know I'm not O'ing, and nada when I think I am! This month I used both MB and OPK to see if there was a difference, and got a positive with the OPK on day 18, around about when I'd expect it, and nothing from MB! I'm really disappointed in it, cos it sounds so good, and it's pretty expensive...
I had a similar experience with MB Erin. I used it before I tried to get pg with DS2, and in the end, I gave up on it and went back to OPK's (internet cheapies). I found OPK's to be FAR more accurate for me than the MB ever was. I found the MB just confused me, and I was a bit disappointed really considering how much I paid for it. I know I've probably spent far more on OPK's than I would've if I'd stuck with the MB, but if they give me a better result I'm happy to do that.:

Same thing for me... I found MB extremely frustrating :wall: and it never worked for me. Ferning all over the place etc. I ended up giving it away to one of the lovely ladies at bellybelly and I'd love to know if she had more success with it than me... Hope so! :D
I started using mb 2 months ago after another friend swore by it (she has just had baby #2). I started testing in the mornings but thought i was doing something wrong - I could only ever see blobs - so started testing in the afternoons and was constantly getting the fern pattern :wall: Started to think I was the most fertile woman on the planet!! This month started doing it first thing in the morning again and got the clear full ferning right on the day I thought I should have been oing. I found that waiting 10 minutes after it dries works best, not 10 minutes from when I smeared - so in total probalby 20 minutes. 2 days to AF, :crossfingers:
Hi! I bought this product after TTC 6 months. I got only dots and dashes- never any sign of ferning. I was quite frustrated that perhaps I wasnt ovulating at all. I was testing first thing in the morning, following the rules. I would check straight away and wait too. Anyway, I seem to have a BFP anyway as of yesterday, so clearly I must have been ovulating. I would not recommend this product, I would buy the urine tests if I need them again.
BTW I also introduced, EPO, Vitex and pre-seed type sperm friendly lube this month, so Cant tell what but SOMETHING worked!
I used it the first month i bought it and fell pregnant with my DD - i was also charting and everything on my chart (in terms of ovulation and temps) lined up with when i got the full fern pattern on MB....so i guess i was lucky :D
I'll be using it again when we TTC# 2 later this year :)
I used the MB when ttc our daughter i had dots then small ferning and day of o i had big ferns and fell pregnant that month.
Sadly we lost our daughter so we brought a CBFM and also use MB and i have found that i get dot's on the day's i have a low reading on my CBFM and i have small ferning when my CBFM is reading high so i see full big ferns when the monitor reads peak i found it works much better about 1/2 hour to an hour after i wake up as my mouth is to dry when i wake up and the saliva is to cloudy so i wait a little while and then use it but i only get ferning when my estrogen is high around o time so it works for me.
I've had full ferning for 6 days straight, Day 11 - 16....anyone experienced full ferning for more than a few days? When AF finished I had pebbles for four days as expected, and transitional ferning/pebbles Day 9 and 10. Anyone had success lately?

it seems there is a lot of negatives with MB. i used it first time last month but didnt get ferning when other signs indicated O and got ferning toward the end of my cycle when i knew i had definatley O'd.
and this is our first month of TTC and i am on CD9 and just got partial ferning (which is confusing me cause O is usually CD15-16)
so i guess doing the temping, OPK etc is needed to get a clearer pic on everything.

Well I am in total shock but Maybe Baby worked for me, we have been trying for about 7 months & I was reaching breakdown stage (we have had losses in the past). From Day 11 I got constant ferning which I now know was an indication we conceived. I got a BFP yesterday so fingers crossed everything works out. So a thumbs up for Maybe Baby from me!
I brought a maybe baby after losing our little girl in Feb 09. Desperate to get pregnant again My periods were irregular after giving birth and I wanted to know when i Ovulated.
the first month I used it I had full ferns we waited 1 period as told by the doctors and the the next time I had full ferns again and we conceived our little girl. I am know using it again to TTC. But finding it not working very well white breastfeeding, also only having 1 period since giving birth.
I think it is worth the money i brought mine from ebay for $30.
Hi ladies! Not sure how to work this website yet so I'm just posting on what I believe is the correct spot :) I'm 23, married & have been TTC for 6 months now. My hubby & I dont smoke & drink in moderation (if any) We bought the Maybe Baby as my sister In-law suggested we try it since it worked for her first time after she was told she could not have children. My period is very regular, has always been but I cant seem to fall pregnant :'( I just had an early period (by a few days) on the 04.02.12 which lasted until the 08.02.12 ... 4 days duration ... thats not like me at all! Usually I have my period for 6 to 7 days. So yesterday 09.02.12 I thought I'd give the MB a try just to see if anything would appear and voila! A heck of a lot of ferns present! I just want to know, does that seem normal at all or odd? Could I be ovulating 'just' after my period which is why I'm not getting pregnant around the 14 day mark? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading :)
