Lips. Cheeks. Nose. Neck. Arms. Heads. Never thought about it! I've never noticed my friends ever NOT kissing on lips.
My kids are used to being assailed with juicy lip kisses and I get lots back. Win Win.

I kiss my kids on the lips all the time..nobody will deprive me of my babies gorgeous kisses!! : )
I have though taught my kids that only mum and dad can kiss you on the lips and family kiss you on the cheeks, only because thats what me and DH are more comfortable with
DS gets lip kisses from me hundreds of times a day. He also gets kisses all over his gorgeous little face, lol! He's become really affectionate lately and loves to run up to me yelling "mumma!" and grab my face and plant a big sloppy kiss on my lips. Yep, the drool is kinda gross, but the kiss makes up for it a million times over. I'm not too worried when he tries to kiss someone else, because he's pretty selective with who he tries it with (once with my mum and once with my sister), but I wouldn't like it much if someone else tried to kiss him on the mouth. I think it may make a difference when it comes to who instigates the lip kiss. DS is just an innocent loving toddler!
I think when it comes to lip kisses and kids getting older, they probably start to get embarrassed in front of friends long before they start to see it as an act which may be thought of as 'indecent' or 'wrong'. If you grow up doing something then it's just normal for you.
Yes im in the Lets Kiss on the Lips group too ..... What is the world coming to if you cant kiss your childs lips for god sake.
Our babys are made and born (majority) through our vaginas so why are people questioning whether kissing our children on lips is appropriate or not IT GOES OVER THE TOP doesnt?
I love the wet open mouth kisses toddler give you and i like so many love kissing all my kids on lips neck face hands tummy etc
i even encourage dh to kiss our little one on the lips as that is what he loves to do .... i said i would hate DS 2 to grow up thinking it is ok to kiss mum on the lips but you cant kiss dad on the lips as its dad.....
:)
Definitely kiss on the lips. But I only kiss ds, neice and nephew and my DH on the lips. Everyone else is a cheek.
Big kissers here, but on cheeks mainly. Dunno why but im not really a fan of lip kissing my bubba :)
I kiss my kids on the lips. No worries. I even remember kissing my dad on the lips as a kid until I got to my teenage years and then I didn't want to kiss my parents at all, then some time after that I started again but just on the cheeks. My dad and I now exchange cheek kisses - usually one on each cheek plus another for good measure, LOL.
I don't mind my kids kissing their close family on the lips. But I have an uncle who always kisses on the lips and it GROSSES me out. I always have to deflect and go for the cheek... and still without fail he always goes for the lips next time. I am sure it is very innocent, but I am so not comfortable with it. On the other hand, I have another uncle who is more of a hugger - he squeezes the living crap out of me every time we meet (he's strong and sometimes it hurts, LOL!) but interestingly I have NO problem with this whatsoever!
UGH this is ridiculous. First they say breastfeeding is sexual, and mothers who 'enjoy' it are perverted. Now kissing your kids is sexual? What next? Changing nappies? Sharing a bath or shower? HUGGING? If you can't separate a parent caring for and showing love and affection to their child with sexual feelings then... well to me that is weird.
(BWAHAHAHAHA just as I typed this Jazz came in for the kiss ... "mmmmmmmmmm"... and she grabbed my head and turned it to hers and gave me a bit kiss on the lips "MWAH!")
wow I never really thought of it being an issue, I kiss all three of mine on the lips, the head, the checks. DS2 at the moment loves to pucker up his lips for a kiss.
all this reminds me of the things my family have told me about when i was growing up... I was raised by my dad who was 20 when i was born. Back when parent's rooms were "mother's rooms" and dad couldn't even go in to change my nappy cos he was frowned upon and called a pervert on numerous occasions.
When i got older (1-2ish) i used to refuse to shower without him but he was made feel so dirty by others that he'd wear swimmers.
If i had nappy rash we'd stay at my nan's (his mum's) cos people would say horrible things about him putting nappy rash cream on me... But he still cuddled and kissed me and i kiss my girls on the lips (and cheeks, head, arm, neck wherever lol) and they kiss me too. I love it and i don't get why people have such a problem.
Wow look what i came back to! 3 pages! lol
Its nice to see everyone's different opinions :)
I have to go against the grain here - the only person that kisses me on the lips is DH. Funny thing is my MIL is a lip-kisser and all her kids think its gross and only ever kiss their on kids on the cheek.
I didnt lip-kiss DD when she was younger and asked family not to either just not wanting to spread germs and bad bacteria. Now she is a bit older and knows to keep her mouth shut and her slobber to herself (haha) I love our lip-kisses!!! DP however dosnt like kissing her on the lips. I come from a kissing family but he dosnt. I cant wait for her to wake up in the morning so I can get one! Sigh! :)
I didn't kiss DS on the lips until he started kissing me, so we do kisses on lips now. But I usually go for the forehead, in his hair or the tummy. I never really analysed it too much, just what felt right for us.
I find lip kissing with kids odd, but not because I think it's perverted or anything like that, only because I grew up in a super affectionate family but it was always cheek or forehead kissing, and I'll be the same with my kids. DH has said he wouldn't feel comfortable kissing our kids on the lips, but he grew up with zero affection from his parents.
In saying that though, there have been times DD has tried to squirm away from me when i've gone for the cheek and i've copped her slobber on the lips LOL.
I kiss dd on the cheek and almost always she opens her mouth and faces me and the kiss ends up being on the lips. Absolutely nothing wrong with it! Its adorable!
