Boys are awesome. I don't have a girl to compare to but my boys are so funny and affectionate. They give the best huggles and they're such enthusiastic helpers. They're so noisy and boisterous that it makes me crazy but I wouldn't change a thing about them (except maybe adding a muse button and a pause button lol).
Mummy love. DS is a mummies boy & I love it.
I love his obsession with cars, trucks, mowers, motorbikes.
I had 2 girls, then DS, then another girl. My older girls do not get on at all. DS gets along with them all.He adores DD3 & both the older girls spoil him.
DD1 & DD2 very rarely play together, but DD2 & DS are always giggling together.
Boys are so relaxed & easy going. There isn't the *****iness you get with girls at school. They aren't nearly as competitive with each other.
Boys are so much less drama!
Finally... doodle love. Watching that love grow can be so hilarious at times!! (Maybe I'm slightly odd ;))
I don't have boys and so far that's the way I wanted it but I desperately hope our next baby is a boy, for so many reasons, the biggest one being DH wanting his son..... Someone to pass down the family name, a little footy player (DH even hopes to coach)..... I look forward to the Tonka trunks, Lego, and down the track, guitar lessons!!!!
I am also the youngest of 3, I have twin brothers who are older than me and love it. I have always loved having them around and now I enjoy having their sons around. I LOVE having girls but it is so nice to have boys around too, it really levels things out.

Forgot to add I LOVE the little clothes. I love buying for my nephews just as much as I love buying my girls beautiful outfits. Have you seen the funky little jeans with button up shirts and a little tie?! Hehehe :D
Hi, I understand, I was a bit surprised at my 20 week ultrasound too. For no reason at all I was expecting to have a girl, I think my son tricked me by telling me to call him "Felicity" as his foetus name (Yes, I had conversations with him, and I swear at 12 weeks he answered the question "what shall I call you?" with "Felicity"!). But I digress, having a boy is no different to having a girl, there are no innate differences between the two, only cultural and social ones. I do all the fun things with my son and he loves them as much as every other child. Painting, dress-ups, playing with jewellery, baking, climbing trees, origami, playdough etc etc, he even helps me cook and clean (well, sometimes!)
Babies are just people, you really don't need to treat them differently because of their sex. My son is a sweet, thoughtful, funny little person, and I am so so happy he is in my life, he's really great company.

PS I have only one child, but he loves to play with older children or either gender.
i just had my first baby 5 weeks ago so i'm yet to discover the little boy personality. but i cant wait. from the moment he was born, i cried for days because i was just soooo in love with him. i had never felt that emotion before.
i could not imagine my life without him in it now. im sure you will feel exactly the same. :)
I just have to add this.
After my first 2 girls, I was desperate for a boy. I felt very similar to you & was terrified I would have another girl!
He turns 3 in two weeks. I still can stare at him for hours. I think about him with tears in my eyes because he's just so awesome! (One of his words.)
He's always asking questions & learning new things. Right now DD3 is laying in her cot in a sooky mood, fighting sleep, & he's in there with her, playing with her mobile keeping her happy.
DD3 was not planned. She was a suprise. I said many times I'd have another if I could guarantee a boy, but that wasn't likely.
I spent the whole of DD3's pregnancy feeling detatched, guilty & just horrible.
But now she's here, I wouldn't change it. It took a few weeks to get the same connection I had with my older kids as babies, but she definetely amazed me from day one.
I have been in your position, & I just want to reassure you, no matter what you feel now, you will love your baby with every thing in you.
So happy to hear that all is going well this pregnancy and that the signs are there for a full term bub. Be proud of yourself for speaking up, for verbalising your thoughts and trying to work through them. I hope you find peace with your inner battle once your little one is in your arms.
I have two boys that i absoultely adore, they are cheeky, so sweet and cuddly and play beautifuly together. They are sensitive, creative and surprise me every single day. They are big fans of their mummy which i love, but they love dad to bits also. All traits that you could also find in a girl really...
I was kind of opposite to you, with DS1 we didn't find out what we were having (suspected a boy as they are very dominant in our family) and were thrilled to have our boy when he arrived. With DS2 we found out and were both secretly quite relieved to be having another son. I think it had a lot to do with being able to stick with what we know and a bit of a fear of having a girl. For me the fear had a lot to do with the rocky relationship i have had with my mother and for DH i think it was because he just knows how boys think and was a bit scared about the teenage years.
DH and i discussed the posability of a 3rd child and DH was quite adement that he was content with two boys and i too felt quite content with our two boys. If he was happy i was happy. Then last year we found ourselves unexpectedly expecting and from the minute i realised i was pregnant i felt it was a girl.
During the pregnancy i too had some guilty feelings. I think it had to do with the 'girl' thing and also because we had decided that we were happy with the way things were. She wasn't unwanted but it was almost like she'd inconvineanced us a little bit (i feel terrible for saying that but for a minute there i did feel that). We were in the process of renovating a kitchen and getting a loan to do it, but being pregnant meant i'd be not working again and being pregnant with our 3rd (and having 3 under 5) meant i probably wouldn't be able to go back to work for some time. We were thinking financially also, we don't earn a whole lot between us but we get by.
But having said all of that i'm a big believer that things happen for a reason and that our children choose us. The guilty feelings are because i thought like that about someone who i absolutely adore and did before she was even placed in my arms. So if you've read this far i just explained all that because i can relate to your feelings in some way even though there are some differences. Our little girl arrived Dec last year and we love her to bits, overwhelming and unconditional love is the best feeling.
As for me i have a younger brother by about 3.5 years and we did get along well until our teenage years. There were a few years there where we couldn't say a nice word to eachother but that eased off once we were in our early 20's. We have a great relationship now.
I hope you can sort through your feelings with the help you're recieving and don't beat yourself up too much along the way. Concentrate on being healthy and enjoying the rest of your pregnancy. All the best for your future ahead :hug:

and watching my DH and DS (whose only 14 months) rough and tumble and chase each other and laugh and giggle is just heart melting stuff.
and he loves loves loves his cuddles! and his dog... any dog really!
From an early age he's been right into trucks and wheels and "things that spin"... not just into, obsessed! He loves to figure out how things work.
I just love little boys. We don't know what our number 2 is but i'm happy either way. LIttle boys are just so wonderful... and I love dressing him in his little shorts and shirts and his man-singlets lol.
DS calls them muscle shirts :lol::
Shazzi, congrats on having a wee man!! I loooooooooove my wee guy to bits and although my mum only ever wanted a grandaughter (good on you mum) she is absolutely in love with my DS. He is the ants pants. What I love about my little freckle??? He gives me cuddles, and kisses that I don't see him giving to daddy
9he just wants to be all roughed up by daddy) He makes my heart and soul smile every second of every day. He is my life and I wouldn't sell him for a trillion millions!! lol. When I look into his eyes I can see all the trust and love in them. I love my lil man to bits :)
I adore my little boy cuddles - both of them are very affectionate. They also have the most beautiful, compelling smiles and giggles. You can't help but smile back. Both my boys also love anything with wheels - and I actually quite like to share their excitement as the "rubbish bin truck" comes down the road. Or the motorbike. Or the grocery truck. Or the neighbour's 4WD ....
Little boys are beautiful and I've no doubt you'll love your little boy to pieces.
Cuddles. Ds always likes being close and is a big mummas boy. But, The cheekiness. The overall boy-ness, he enjoys exploring and testing new things and how they cone apart and go tigether again. He amazes me every day.
He'll stick up for his big sis, always. And his mummy :)
Oh, boys are just wonderful! I have a nearly 15mo, and he is so amazing. He is so independent, happy to entertain himself...such a calm personality. There is such a special bond between a mother and a son, I can't describe it. Its just beautiful. I know when you hold him in your arms and kiss that little button-nose, your heart will just melt...he's your little man.
I am actually a bit worried about when we (hopefully) have a second. My head tells me I'd like to have a girl (one of each, you know), but my heart tells me I'd like another beautiful boy. I'm scared I won't have the same bond with a girl as I would with a boy.
Oh, and I just LOVE the little dungarees you can buy for boys, soooo cute! And I love that he loves cars already...and makes the "brrrrm" noise when he sees one.
Beanybub, my ds already makes the brmm noises too haha! It applies to anything with wheels.
And definately know what you mean about the heart wanting another boy. I'd love two rough tumble mummas boys :)

I can understand, I felt a little like you when I found out at 20 weeks ds was a boy. I'm from a girl family, I was scared!
Let's just say I ADORE my boy.

He's loud
Loves music
Eats like a horse
And even calms me down in hairy situations sometimes "it's ok mummy, deep breaths"
He is my world. We have our issues, like at the mo, were about to move and we've been living in a hotel for a month, but I think the reason I get so upset when he behaves badly is just because I love him so much it hurts!

I love both my kids (girl then boy). I don't find there are too many differences between the two to be honest. I think environment often comes down to how specific to their gender they are iykwim. I know boys are very affectionate to their mummies just as little girls idolise their daddies. My son is very energetic but no more than some other girls that I know. TBH I think it's more of a second child thing than a gender thing.
The opportunities you have as a mother is awesome. And to me it's something I would look to moreso. In that you have the opportunity to raise a man who respects women, who is not afraid of emotion, who could be a good father, a good friend and a good son. You have the opportunity to break moulds and break stereotypes. This is what I think of when I raise both my children. I want my daughter to be strong. Not to feel that how short her dress is will relate directly to how positively she'll be treated. Just as I want to teach my son that whilst it is important for him to know how to beat his chest it is not all he is. Emotions are not weaknesses and his capabilities are not limited by his gender either. :)

I have 3 little men growing up in my house. My oldest is 9. I was so desperate for my first born to be a girl, cause my mother in law was so desperate for our first born to be a boy so he could carry on the family name :rolleyes:
Even at 9, Kameron is the most caring kid. He sits with the special needs kids in his class to help them chill out, if I am in bed with a migraine or whatever he is coming in often to check on me to see if I need anything. On the other hand he also sometimes thinks he is the boss of the house, and tells his younger brothers off quite often for which we have to constantly pull him up on.
Lachlan is a few weeks away from turning 7, and you know he has a heart of gold but he is my one that throws the massive tantrums. thankfully most of them are at home. He is a very over emotional child and the instigator of many fights among the brothers. Having said that though he is the first one that comes running up to you for a hug, and on pick up from school most afternoons he will come bolting out of class with arms wide open ready for me to sweep him up.
Ashton is our baby and is 4. Everyone adores him and he knows it LOL. He is still in that Kissy and cuddly age, but becoming Mr. Independent as well. He is loud and yells alot, but then yells at everyone else to be quiet the next moment :D His favourite past time is singing songs while on the toilet. He loves getting out there and getting dirty and hates bath time.
All my boys fight together, play together and get in trouble together. Kameron is very protective of Ashton. Kameron and Ashton play well together, Lachlan and Ashton play well together, but Kameron and Lachlan rarely do. I think there is a slight personality clash there at times. Kameron and Ashton are very similar.
I was disappointed when I found out Ashton was going to be a boy, but got over it within a few days.
I am the little sister to two big brothers. Both were out of home by the time I was 11 with one of them going to live with my dad when I was 7, so I have never been really close to my oldest brother. As adults I don't have anything really to do with them. Their choosing for one, my choosing for the other as I have been walked over by him too many times.
I to was hoping for a girl when we fell pregnant. At my 16wk ultrasound when we found out it was a boy, I actually cried for a bit. I'm not sure why, I was happy everything was fine and he was healthy, but I felt a little disappointed all the same.
I've only just had our son, he's nearly 6 weeks now. What do I love about having a son?
Everything, he is so beautiful, so cute and so sweet. When I'm holding him and talking to him, he looks up and gives me big smiles. It makes me melt.
If this is the joy he is bringing now, I cant imagine the happiness that's yet to come.

When we found out we were expecting not 1 but 2 boys this time around I must admit it took me a while to get used to the idea. We were certain that we were having girls that to find out they were boys was dissappointing at the time. I really wanted DD to have a close sister to bond with as this is something I missed as my sister is 8 years older than me, but after looking at all the pro's & con's I must admit the idea of boys is growing on me.
I am now liking the fact that DD will always be our 1 special princess and she won't have to share that spotlight with anyone as the boys will always have there own bond together plus DD is such a daddy's girl that they will always have that special bond between them that the boys won't be able to break. I'm also looking forward to having 2 little mummy's boys to hug and snuggle, not the DD doesn't do that she does but it is on her terms only.
I also think because we live in the country our kids will be outdoors kids and DH can't wait until all 3 will be old enough to "help" in the garden and get messy, plus he will also be able to get out his trainsets and matchbox cars from when he was a kid (although DD would love that stuff as well).
I have two boys... One is nearly 2 and one is 4 weeks old... My sister has two boys 5 and 3.
Boys are ADORABLE. They are so much fun and so easy-going in their play. They are hilarious little men investigating everything, working out how things work.
My 22mth old is Daddy's little shadow... It melts my heart watching him copy Daddy's every move. I love watching him learn 'how to be a man'. But always comes back to Mummy for kisses and cuddles.
As the mother of boys we have an amaZing opportunity to raise the next generation of men as kind, compassionate, socially and environmentally conscious men who will treat the world with love and respect. The world needs more men like that!!!

I have 2 boys and love them to bits. I am actually a bit scared at having a girl this time round. I am not disappointed, just not quite as excited as other people think I should be, if that makes sense. :)
Boys are so very simple. They play and make noise. They fight and then they are over it. They really do love cuddles. They don't seem to have the same manipulative side that I have seen in girls the same age. And from teaching teenagers I can tell you they are much simpler when they are older too! I think it is spending time with teenage girls that makes me anxious about having a girl of my own. lol.
when i was pg i wanted a little girl. one i could dress in pretty frilly dresses and put bows in her hair. at my 20 week scan we found out we were having a boy and i got excited thinking of all the things i could do with him
i can still dress him up but in jeans and little shirts, i love the boys clothes so much more then the girls, he is sooo cuddly and kisses me all the time. i love all the boys toys and love how he is a mini me of his daddy. if we do decide to have another baby then i would love to have another boy. just so i can get all those things all over again. :D
Boys don't just love their mummies, but their big sisters too. Just wait until his older, he'll annoy his big sis guaranteed but if anyone else does, watch out, he'll give them a protective what for!

Both my boys are loving and cuddly, as lots of others have said. My 15 month old continually comes up to me through the day and kisses me on the cheek or the big belly and cuddles me and says "aww". That being said, both can be rough and tumble, too, and they love a good wrestle together - natural testosterone-driven behaviour :D My first son is a lot more gentle in nature than his peers - we put this down to having a girly, level-headed bigger sister. He had a hard beginning of the year in prep last year, cause most of the boys in his class were either the oldest or had brothers and wanted to spend their lunch times kicking balls and getting rough with each other, but mine just wanted to sit and have a conversation and get to know them - more like a girl. Then he got it - he realised he can get to know them while playing and he doesn't need to do what his sister does and sit and talk the whole time - some of it is mimicry, I think. Now his teachers say he is really well-balanced -he has great social skills and great communication skills, but still interacts well with his peers and adults alike. And his best friend is still his sister - they play really well together, watch movies together, draw together - whatever they do they are happy to be together. And he is ultra protective over both her and I, being a big man around the house like he is at 6 :D
Honestly, I know for some having one sex or the other can be really daunting, but as soon as you see him I'm sure you'll fall in love with your little man. They steal your heart :heartbeat:
Shazzi, I didn't love my little boy from when I found out I was pg, until he was a few days old. But I would have never given him up for anything. Now, I love him to bits. He, and his sister, are my favourite things in the world. He and his big sister (there is nearly two years between them), get along fantastically. The occasional dummy spit, but all children do that I think. They now sleep in the same room. If they both happen to sleep in the one bed, then later when we check on them, they are often holding hands.
I think maybe the thing I love the most about having a little boy, is that he is so cuddly. If I'm feeling down, or need some love, he is the biggest smoocher, and would let me cuddle him for hours. Speaking of which, he now wants me to feed him the rest of his dinner, so I had better go before it ends up on the floor.
I've also been told that boys are easier than girls.... :dunno:
ETA; I wasn't looking forward to my second pg because I had had such an awful time while pg with my first, and up until she was almost 18 months old. I had really really bad m/s for the whole pg, and then after she was born, she screamed literally all day and didn't sleep (reflux that I could find no remedy or relief for). So to me, the possibility of going through all that again, was almost too much to bear. My second pg was a little better, but still rates as awful. Then, after Rhino was born, we had all sorts of feeding issues. That didn't help my love. Anyway, that's the reasons for me.

I was chatting with a BB gal today and she mentioned this thread. Straight away I knew what I loved about having a special little boy to raise. My answer to your question .... I love that I will be raising a wonderful man because the world needs more of them. I feel in a strange way that my DS is such a wonderful contribution to the world and I am thankful that he has a fantastic dad to show him how to be an amazing man, husband, father etc. Raising DS to be a great man not only helps his own family and people that he will work with one day but it will also show other men in the community and his friends how to be a good man also. Not sure if all that makes any sense but I think that the more beautiful little boys that are born into wonderful homes the better the world will be for the men that come of it. :loveshower:

I always wanted boys. Boys rock.
I love it that DS flirts with me. I love his sense of humour, his persistance, his determination. I love the man he is growing up to be. I love that he is caring and loving. I enjoy his company and that he thinks of me as a friend.
He just gets on with life rather than whinges about it. He has such a strong will and he is going to grow up and be amazing. (Plus I get to be the evil MiL! Yay!)
I love that he runs around all day yelling mumma mumma mumma then he will stop and run to me with his mouth wide open ready for the biggest, sloppiest kiss he can muster up. I love that when he climbs onto the wooden coffee table which we had to put away until he learnt how to get down, he looks so damm proud of himself. When he can climb on a chair and sit like a big boy. He has the cheekiest grin ive ever seen little biased lol I love that he still gets up at night to come into bed with us, he doesnt cry just says mumma or dada or sometimes bear (our dog). I love that he loves animals, i love that hes not scared of the chooks. Secretley i know that when he kicks or hits me, almost instantly he will give a kiss and hug after. I love that he puts his hand up to mine to hold and take me in the backyard when hes had enough of inside and if i pretend to not go he will grab both hands and pull as hard as he can. I love that when i sneeze he thinks its the funniest thing hes ever heard. But most of all i love him because hes my baby boy, hes always going to be my baby boy.
I always wanted a girl, and for that reason I found out the sex whle pregnant. I have struggled with my boy. I grew up with 3 sisters so no experiences with little boys, could not relate to them at all. I think I was gien a boy for a reason. He has taught me SO much about the opposite sex. He and I have had such an amazingly strong unbreakable bond since he was a few days old. He adores me, and is always asking me to straighten my hair and wear my dresses cause i am beautiful. When your son tells you how beautiful you are it just seems to mean so much.
He is SO cuddly, his fave thing to do is snuggle on the couch with me on saturday nights and watch a movie. Not an hour goes by when he doesnt tell me how much he loves me.
He tells it like it is, there is no beating about the bush.
Boys clothes are cute and you dont have to worry so much about the over sexualising with regards to clothes.
Toys are easy, if it has wheels or you can build with it, its a winner.If it has wheels AND you can build with it, they are busy for weeks!
If they need a wee in the middle of nowhere, they can just pee on a tree :)
mother and son bond is incredible.
DS is a big kisser. He even puckers up XP he likes to choose where he kisses you and holds your face in both his hands and rotates your face til he finds the best kissable spot, then carefully smooches you with this little smirk like he knows he's making you melt! Hes a real little suck hole! ;)
