I would keep him in a small tank on his own with an air stone and filter, dim lights or no light, somewhere to hide, daily water changes (about 20% total volume), offer shelled peas (can help with constipation/swim bladder issues) Use water from the other tank to fill it if possible.
I wouldn't stress about the big tank yet, smaller tanks are better as hospital tanks as the frequent water changes are easier with a smaller volume. Make sure you are using filtered water or dechlirinator Some species are really sensitive to the chlorine and chloramine in tap water.
Bad mans tropical fish website has some great articles on caring for sick fish (it's not just a tropical fish website/forum)

Thanks hun, yeah we are keeping him in the small tank until he's 100% with just the bubble cord , 1/3 water and a little salt.
Will be doing daily water changes.
PH is good & no chlorine etc as we are on tank water.
Will see how we go.

He's still going and i've increased the amount of water in his tank by a little bit - he is moving around but he's not in a huge tank and i don't expect him to be as active as the goldies in the other tank.. BUT i've noticed and i'm not sure if it had been there the whole time but he has some white on his mouth, almost looks like something is growing?

Glad he is still going. There are so many things the white spot could be. First thing make sure you don't cross contaminate items between your tanks to protect your other fish of Murrays white spot is contagious. It's hard to tell in fish what the problem is, especially without pics. could you take a photo of the spot in to your local aquarium and get someone to have a look at it? Fish can get fungal, bacterial and parasitic infections and each has a different treatment but water changes will help with most infections. The stress of the move may have weakened his immune system.
Or it could just be a lump/cyst.
Hope he keeps improving.
ETA the most common things that look like white spots would be Ich or columnaris

Bit tricky To tell from the pic. You could Try looking up images on google of Ich and columnaris and compare, or take the pic to te pet shop. Ill be keeping my fingers crossed that Murray gets better.

I have found a fish forum so have posted pics there of him and hopefully get some lovely friendly repsonses soon.
They also have an Australian native section so should get some helpful hints in raising him in there aswell.
In regards to him floating we seem ti have fixed that issue, he is swimming around now and coming in and out of his barrel.
I really can't wait until we get a bigger tank all setup for him and he has a lot more space to move around.
Really looking forward to setting it up so he has some deeper holds to hide in on the bottom (going to need quite a bit of rock) and some lovely plants (albeit plastic), also hoping to get some driftwood aswell and make it look like a nice natural setup.
Anyone got tips on palces to get some good stuff cheapisH?
Also want to add to our goldies tank as they are probably very bored in there.
Another idea i was given which i might do for Murray is use the PVC pipe, cover it in the waterproof glue and roll it in the rocks, it will blend in with the rock base but also give Murray somewhere to hide :)
