LOL Jennifer... maybe he thought you had a little garden in your back room :p :p
If only... I think he took my comments as suggestive in another way. In which case he needed to be about 20 years younger and a LOT better looking!
Oh! LOL! Oh dear! But then  wouldn't you be letting him in your bedroom
Anyhoo... lol... scone, hide the kitty's  :D
Agree with the others - hide them! Before I bought my place, the unit I was renting was no pets so I just didn't declare them on the application. Both my cats are indoor cats too so on inspection days, I did like Glamourcide and drop the cats and all related paraphernalia off at my parents house the night before, go home, give the house a good vacuum and clean and pick them up the next night. Landlord had no idea at all.
PMSL Leasha, I pretended that our cat was the neighbour's once too.
DH got busted at one unit he lived in before we met - he and his flatmate were stoners and totally blanked on the inspection date so they hadn't organised to get rid of the cat... property manager shows up and they're like, 'Arrrh!' and DH headed for the bathroom with the cat and turned the shower on. Problem was, the kitty fancied herself a bit of a guard dog and started yowling to let DH know there was a stranger in the house... BUSTED :D They received a notice telling them they had to get rid of the cat, told the real estate that a friend had adopted it, and made sure they never got drunk the night before an inspection ever again!
I forgot to say that we offered our RE a pet deposit down here and had a reference to hand in with the application :D. Its what got us the house! The other applicants didn't offer pet deposits but wanted to keep animals here.
We've always had 2 dogs & just never bothered telling them either ;)
All of the houses we've lived in have been newish & in nice areas so the chances of us being allowed to have one dog let alone 2 was slim ;) (Big dogs as well)
We only ever told them about the dog for the house we were in previous to this one because there were no side fences & we wanted to put them up (for the dogs & also for Luke & the privacy)
They were hesitant until I suggested paying an extra weeks worth of rent with the bond (as a dog bond) - and did the same as Christy & had a reference.
I still only told them about the one dog though (and he was the old one that slept all day on the back step).... didn't bother telling about Leo the naughty boy
For this house &the next one we just haven't bothered... Like Jen, the houses are always cleaner when we leave them compared to when we entered them ;)
 Leash, my girlfriend & I did that with her cat when we first rented as well!!!
I just threw a blanket over the snoozing cat and flipped a boob out for a feed for ds and the RE guy couldn't get out of there quick enough!
