Default Morning after pill and breastfeeding?

For the first time in my life (bar my conception, HA!!) I had a condom break I'm BF but not relying on that as a contraceptive as I got AF back at 8 weeks, and although she hasn't been back since, I'm not sure I want to take the chance. Being pregnant again now would be horrifying. So, can the morning after pill be taken while breastfeeding? How does it work? I absolutely do not want to do anything that may affect BF or my supply. I have no experience with emergency contraception whatsoever so I'm totally clueless.

I am pretty sure its safe as an emergency contraception while BF may have slight decrease in supply and fussyness at breast but not reason not to take.

    Just check with pharmacist.

    Hugs hope all ok

Thanks Feeb hmm, I don't know, I did a bit of a google this morning and apparently it's like a really strong dose of the pill? So I'll have a bleed? I'm kind of worried about the hormones going through my milk.

PZ I took the MAP while bf DD2 I gave her EBM I had stashed for 2 days and pumped and dumped. It did drop my supply for about 3-4 days but it came back fine once the drug was out my system and Dd was back at the boob. I think it was somewhere between 4 and 6 months. The pharmacist said I could BF while taking it but it would be in my milk and as I had heaps of EBM I used it

I found I had constant spotting with the mini pill so we used condoms and then had a problem with a condom coming off. I'm unlucky as AF came back at about 2 months after birth even while exclusively bf both girls

    Good luck PZ

I thought you couldn't take it while feeding-but please dont quote me. I would ring Rodney White, he can give you the correct answer.

    I found this:

Common breastfeeding concerns - Drugs and breastfeeding
    Contraception
If you want to take the contraceptive pill while breastfeeding, you should
only be prescribed the mini-pill. Common brand names include Microlut,
    Noriday, Locilan and Micronor.
Combined oral contraceptive pills – like Nordette, Microgynon, Triphasil,
Triquilar and many others – should not be taken.
The morning-after pill (Postinor-2) is quite safe for emergency
    contraception.
    Depo-Provera and Depo-Ralovera (both three-monthly injectable
contraceptives) are excreted into breastmilk in very low amounts, and are
also safe for use. They should be given about six weeks after the birth.
If you are planning to use implanted contraceptive devices (such as
Implanon or Mirena) small amounts are excreted into the breastmilk
and you should discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor prior to
    implantation.

    Good luck!
