Annie- there was talk of cake, does that count? Amy is gonna make a Dora cake for Mya's birthday. and yes i told her about my feleings on Dora.

Elly is doing well & seems to have gotten used to her hot pink cast. they are at home and doing well. Elly slept on and off at the hospital on thursday night but was still chripy despite being tired. "

Sorry I missed the meet yesterday...had let the house go big time over the past week and spent all of yesterday cleaning it whilst Hailey was in daycare....I know, I know, pathetic excuse, but its so nice having a clean house again :)
Annie - have a great holiday in US. Do you have family over there? We have a friend in San Fran. Since moving over there (like 8yrs ago)he thinks life is all backwards in OZ :rolleyes:

Hmmmm, all this talk about cake is making me hungry.
Anyone going to the Play School Concert at Mermaid Beach on the 25th? I'm thinking I might try and go and take Hailey to daycare late that day (is a Friday).
Anyway, have a great weekend everyone. We had hoped to go to the Blues on Broadbeach tomorrow but didn't realise all the kiddies activites were today :doh:

Where did you work before having Eden?

Bridget- i went to school in Canberra... was a S*** kicking painter and decorator on building sites before Eden, also did some work as a electrical draftsman...
Bernie- Dora freaks me out!!!! lots of childrens crazes do- dont even get me started on the telly tubbies!!!!!!

Gill we all have had our crazes when we were young mine was cabbage patch dolls and my little pony hated barbie hehe

But yeh, i was told to go outside and play a lot, or mum would try and get me to knit or sew or some crap like that. Which is why to this day i have a craft phobia!!!

PMSL Gill.. that's funny! The only toy i remember having was a dirt bike... I remember when my brother and i very first got them, i saw my brother do it and it looked easy... i say on it and pulled back on throttle too hard and went @$$ up! But apart from that, once i learnt to ride it, i loved it...

HAHAHA you girls are hilarious. I had an upbringing like Gill...we had parents who told us to go outside and play all the time, so we grew up making tracks with our bikes at the local park!. Then we moved to Hong Kong and we were thought to be weird because we didnt have a video game console!. Cant really remember a fav toy....think I was deprived? lol

Thanks for all your well wishes. Elly's op went well, but watching her come out of GA was just horrible. Elly has cried more coming out of GA than she has in her whole life. I really felt helpless. Elly is getting better everyday and she is getting use to her hot pink cast. I am already going crazy staying at home, Elly and i are going to find a way to get out of the house!! She has to stay in the cast for 3mths.

Today has been a very emotional day for me, i havent been able to stop myself from crying. I know that there are heaps of positives in this situation and alot of kids have alot worse but there have been other issues on top of this. Yes we sold our house and it was meant to go unconditional on Frid, but the people came back saying that their finance was not approved. Now this maybe ok, but we had just bought (subject to ours going through) a beautiful block of land in Coomera Waters for a great price, where it is flat and leafy and just beautiful. I can walk Elly and the dogs at anytime of the day and not have to almost die getting up any hills to get home as i do here. I really feel safe out there and know that we could go bike riding with Elly on the back and Elly could play in the street no worries. I feel so guilty about not taking my two Rottwiellers for walks, but it would mean doing it in the dark (around Nerang, I DONT THINK SO!) before or after DH gets home from work.

Thanks for listening to me rant and rave...Im sure everyone else has their own problems, and please feel free to express them as well as we are all here for one another.

Mel - so glad to hear the op went well. It must have been so hard for you :( I nearly cried today when Jeremy had his immunisations. It's so awful seeing them upset or in pain.

awww Mel, doesnt all the s*** always hit the fan at the time. Gawd girl, u are so brave and strong and amazing to be doing what u r with Elly, i would be a blubbering mess. Make sure you are getting lots of hugs and loooking after urself. How is Elly now? is she settling into the cast ok? I've been thinking of you heaps and hoping u r coping. I totally understand wanting a better home to make life easier on urself.

Mel - I know we've already talked but I so feel your pain. I feel sad knowing that you're going through the same thing we did and wish there was more I could do, but believe me, it gets easier a lot quicker than you realise. In our experience, the first part that you've just been through, was the hardest of the whole 12mths Hailey had treatment (3mths plaster, 9mths brace). When they get the plaster changed again, you feel much more prepared seeing your bub coming out of GA, although still a very emotional thing to have to watch; poor little vegemites are so confused when they come to....wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

It's very unfortunate that you have the added stress of the house situation. Fingers crossed it'll rectify itself soon. The block of land sounds awesome!

I think i had cabbage patch kids when i was a kid & these other dolls called golden girls. They were kinda like heman & sheera dolls lol.

morning all, Mel hope that things improve with the house situation. I know hoe bad it is seeing your child wake up from GA.. When Olivia had her surgey she was 18 months and i fainted when i saw her.. so i was put in a wheel chair and taken back to the ward and Mark had to sit with her in post-op.. i felt so bad that i couldnt be there for her. Elly sounds like a real trooper!

Mel I am so glad that your little Angel is ok. I used to work at the Mater Childrens hospital and it was heartbreaking seeing those tiny little babies coming out of GA/ It just seems so unfair. At least you know in your heart that it is something you had to do for your little girl and you were so strong for going through it all as bravely as you did. Big hugs!!! xoxoxoxox. If you want a group of us to get together and come and keep you company one day, just give us a shout and we will be there, chocolate cake and all!

So what is everyone else up too?? The usual Tuesday meeting seems to have been forgotten this week...waaaahhhhhhhhhhhh boo hoooo...We have to think of somewhere nice to meet...I was thinking Hinze Dam would be somewhere nice too? There is a great little park out there and plenty of room for the kids (i.e Bailey!!!) to run around and for Baileys sake, also, there is plenty of water to go swimming in! LOL. Those who met at Robina would understand......grrr

I was at the doctors today with Aoife and told him about the concern i have with Aoifes eyesight he read my hospital file and said it sounds like it could be a form of epeilapcy its when they are in a day dream like stare .He is refering her to a specialist and said she may need to have a catscan. he also said it could be notting and not to worry .Im not going to worry till she gets all the tests done shes healty to me and if anything is wrongh with her we will deal with it.We are collecting the lettter tomorrow we will probely be on a waiting list cause we dont have insurance.

I am glad you aren't worrying yourself for nothing at this stage. If it does come down to epilepsy, it is treatable with medication.. and many people lead normal happy lives with this condition. But as you said, she looks so healthy and so beautiful that you simply wouldn't know otherwise. Like i said on Friday, i thought her eyes were one of her most gorgeous features ;)

That's strange the possible eyesight issue would have anything to do with an epilepsy diagnosis. The reason I don't drive is actually because that is exactly the type of epilepsy I have (now called childhood absence seizures) - diagnosed at 7 and didn't grow out of it (75% of kids do), but it doesn't affect any aspect of my life other than driving, which really doesn't bother me.

Anyway, great that you're staying positive until any further info is received.

Hi Amygirl i have noticed for months now that Aoife has been having these little episodes where ill be feeding her food and she will stop and stare straight through me like she is day dreaming and ill be calling her name and there would be no responce for a few seconds .I have had a few people comment about it like Will parents have come up a couple of times and his mum has noticed it and being a mother you dont want to think anything is wrongh with your child i was hoping it was something that might go away after a while.she also dose this strange thing with her hand when she is staring she opens and closes it i thought she might be wanting something but the doctor said that this could be something that happens when she is in this state have you ever heard of this?

Hi Bernie. Oh ok, I thought the doc was going off the colour issue in her eyes?
Well I'm no doctor of course and it could be anything and it could be absolutely nothing so as you said, I wouldn't think about it any further until you have some tests behind it. It's not worth the stress.

Epilepsy comes in lots of degrees of severity and non-severity. There are so many types out there and everyone reacts very differently to them and medication. Mine are so short that they are only picked up on an EEG scan these days, so I don't even notice them.

I hope I didn't scare you in anyway saying that I have it, sorry if I did. I just thought by saying it I'd point out, as Catherine said, you can lead a normal life with it as I do.

The only reason i thought it was to do with her eyesight is because when she stares (day dreaming )its like she cant see me so i thought it might be bad eyesight but she can see ok every other time.Dont worry you havent scared me im not going to worry about it .Im just glad the doctor has listened to me this time every time i gone to him he has kinda brushed it off now he is looking into it for me.It could be notting so ill wait and see.Thanks for telling me your story it helps to know if it is that its not the end of the world.

Amygirl- Like you said, things get easier quicker than you think and they have, im already getting back to normal and we are able to go out!!!! Yeeee haaaaaarr!!! I have fitted Elly into her car seat and i have also ordered adjustable straps for the car seat, so its all good. I so cant wait to meet up with everyone again, but this week i have visitors galore for support. God how did i get so lucky with all of you beautiful people in my life!!!

Bernie- You are such a great mum and we are thinking of you. I am glad that your not looking into it tooo much until you get a professional opinion. Life certainly can throw us some wobbly bits (both physically and mentally)HUH, did i just make a joke (er yes/no?).

Ok thats just so not funny Miss Gill! lol.....Im up for anything. Ill be a little less stressed next time, I promise! ;) Although Wednesdays and Thursdays for casual coffee are great for me because I am Bailey free. Dont take it the wrong way, I love my little man, but seriously, taking your pants off in the middle of Robina Town Centre and having to walk a half naked child through David Jones with grannies looking down there noses at me, isnt as funny as it sounds!! Kids will be kids....maybe ill just bring spare clothes next time?? Parks are good too...at least they can run around and not get into too much mischief. I actually really enjoyed our trip to Broadbeach park that time. Maybe we can bring a thermos of tea? ;) What im thinking is....we need a regular place and time to meet so that all of us know when and where things are happening so no one misses out...and if others want to meet and do stuff on the other days then that is cool too. So if we find somewhere central that everyone agrees too? Or...maybe pick two places and alternate them each week? Like the park at broadbeach and the park at Palm Beach? Then at least the kids get a bit of variety. Ok im nattering on and Joe thinks I am writing a book!....what do you guys think?? Id just love to have something to do each week that I know if going to be on and whoever turns up turns up?
Also....before I go...there is a girl who posted a thread on the playgroups section looking for mums on the northern gold coast, so I pointed her this way.

I was thinking perhaps you could not only alternate the location each week but perhaps the time? So have one week morning meets and the next week afternoon meets so covers all basis? Too confussing? I'm easy whatever is decided. I'm absolutely loving walks at Burleigh Heads at the moment (so wish I lived closer to it)....so if anyone ever wants to join me in that, would love the company. Anyway, now I'm writing a book ..LOL.
