nope but im about to try my luck at some lasagna:)
the lasagne sounds nice
Can you do breadcrumbs?
maybe a lightly breadcrumbed pan fried eggplant?
How about tofu? It's a great source of protein and the silken ones are really yummy?
hrmmm ahvnt thought of that.
pink palace i have egg plant and bread crumbs what do i do with it? what goes with it?
the lasagna went down well after the first bite that was hard, tasted weird but then all was good.
1/2 cup (125ml) olive oil
4 small Lebanese eggplant, trimmed, sliced 5mm thick lengthways
Plain flour, to dust
Salt & freshly ground pepper
Milk, to coat
Purchased breadcrumbs, to coat
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
Heat 2 tbs olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the eggplant and cook, turning often, for 4 minutes or until light golden. Set aside to cool completely. Discard the oil.
Season the flour with salt and pepper. Coat the eggplant in the flour and shake off any excess. Dip into the milk and then into the breadcrumbs to fully coat.
Heat the remaining olive oil in the frying pan. Heat over a medium heat. Cook the eggplant for 1-2 minutes each side just until golden. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel to drain
or you can deep fry it?
hrmm thanks pink palce do i salt the egg plant first then rinse?
i gotta try that what would ya serve it with sauce or what ever?
Hi there,
I know someone else already mentioned it but have u tried Salada's or Sao's?
I'm going through a similar situation atm - I'm hungry but even the thought of alot of food makes me sick, whenever I do eat it sits on my stomach and makes me feels so sick that i usually go to bed at nite just so i can fall asleep n that horrible feeling is gone.
I find that the bit of salt on the Salada's is good.
Hope it helps. =)
i dont serve it with any sauces when we eat it.
the salt bascially helps to absorb some of the moisture.
It is amazing the amount of moisture an eggplant has.
BUt if you panfry it for a while you will see the moisture out - and then you will be able to salt as you go to help
HTH
OK I'm a little confused. Your OP said no pasta no cheese no tomato & lasagne is full of all those, yet you still managed to eat it.
You could try tuna parcels. 1 small can of tuna, 1 puff pastry sheet, mayo & chopped onion (can't remember if that's on the no list).
I think you need to see someone about your food issues though. It's not good for you to continue like this, not good for the pregnancy & will certainly not be good for your children to grow up with a mum who has so many issues with food.... they will grow up with food issues too. I avoided lots of things during pregnancy but I could still eat a good variety of food.
i know lol how stupid is that hahaha i ment like pasta by its self and tomato by self
ur right that i need to sort out my feeling when im stressed but as soon as the stress drops and i get past that first lot of eating im fine again pretty much. so weird yes very phycological. my dad is the same funny ppl eat when stressed yet i cant . hrmm :)
BTW i found 2 big tins of tuna in cupboard today.
It's amazing what food can do to you. I can only eat HARD boiled eggs and HARD fried ones. Any other sort will make my throw up and have been this way since year dot.
There are certain other foods that I find it hard to bite into and have to mash them against the top of my mouth, yeah weird but that's the way it is.
So squidipa I can understand where you are at. Keep trying to eat in small portions and often. :)
your not weird hun your just you:hug:
Your hubby sounds very sweet and understanding.
I have to agree with a couple of the others, and I think you need to take a 2 pronged attack here, you need to get the sleeping & eating right at the same time as talking to your GP. It is normal to have food aversions during pregnancy but you have pretty much crossed off all 5 food groups.
It almost sounds like you are having an anxiety attack regarding food, and not wanting to eat the wrong sorts. What ever it ends up being you need to talk to someone about possible nutirent suppliments, if you can't stomach real food, for you and your baby.
your right:) and i value your imput alot and i will talk to dr, altho this comes like at different times like for instance today im fine i can eat just about anything just not the following
rice
tinned spagetti
baked beans
crisps
chocolate bars
lollies
thats it it changes its not fixed does that make sence i hope so :) hubbbie is great the other night at 9pm made me sausages lol
Sorry it's so yucky for you. I hope you're managing to stay afloat - good food for baby is important *HUG*
Maybe trying a gluten-free lactose-free diet might help?
You sound a bit like you might have some of the same sensitivities as i have daily. I use the low-oxalate diet (found here: [URL="http://www.lowoxalate.info/index.html[/URL]) on and off with gluten-free and i find it helps.
I think:
YES pregnancy is making foods seem yucky
....but also:
- Stress
- Sensitivity
I feel you might be a very sensitive person (not a bad thing!) so you feel overwhelmed in difficult situations, and food is a necessary thing, and food should be fun.
I recommend you try the low-oxalate diet, picking out the foods that don't gross you out too much. Maybe try gluten-free for a bit too - the bread is very different to wheat bread and it's not likely to upset your stomach.
I hope things become easier for you.
thank you for taking the time to post i will check out that link a bit later and i am very interested in what it has to say im just feeling a bit off today :) thank you for your support.
