    Morning Sickness General Chatter #1

Welcome to the BellyBelly Morning sickness General Chatter Forum!

Morning sickness is a condition that is believed to affect more than 50% of all pregnant women. Symptoms may start in the early hours of the day and reduce as the day goes on. However, for others it lasts all day! Symptoms may include general nausea and in some instances vomiting.

But remember! Morning sickness generally eases as you enter the 2nd trimester so it wont last forever.

If you are currently experiencing this less than pleasant side effect of pregnancy, why not join in here and chat with others who are going through the same as you.

You can also find a thread HERE with suggested morning sickness remedies.

Anyone else feel like they have a dark cloud hanging over there head?? Some days I'm okay, then other days I'm quite down and wondering if there is an end in sight!

Oh gosh, I have been wanting a safe place to vent about 'morning' sickness. I must preface by saying I am so grateful to be pregnant, we went through so much to get here and I do feel truly blessed. But somehow that does not make throwing up all day any more fun I'm afraid! My MS is all over the place, some days I don't stop throwing up until dinner, many days I just feel queasy all day long and other times I feel queasy and then throw up randomly! Like last night, I felt horrendous all day and then by late afternoon I couldn't get my head out of a bucket! Right on the time when I was home alone with DD and supposed to be prepping dinner and lunches. I just couldn't so we had take away.. again!

I want so much to eat well for my bub and for my own health but it's impossible right now. The list of things I can safely eat without feeling sick is very limited and not particularly nutritious. And the list changes pretty much randomly every few weeks!! At the moment I'm generally making it through the day on cheese and tomato sandwiches, frosty fruits, crumpets, the occasional piece of fruit, sprite, vegemite and turkey! Then at dinner I can usually stomach something regular so long as it isn't stinky or really strong in flavour. I'm all about carbs right now, they fill me up and don't seem to challenge me like other foods.

I'm wearing accupressure bands on my wrists and while I'm not convinced they are helping, I'm kind of too scared to take them off. I'm taking vitamin B6 and have sick bags in my purse and car constantly. It's so glamorous! I haven't been able to work or attend any regular social functions and can hardly keep up with the housework let alone hubby and DD. It just feels like no way to live and yet I know that I do have it easier than a lot of people and therefore feel like I don't have the right to complain so much. But it's depressing feeling so disgusting all the time and not being able to participate in life properly!

Gah, so that is my petty little vent for the day

    Ohh I belong in here!

I was planning on having a sleep in this morning and instead woke up suddenly feeling very sick, dived out of bed and threw up all over myself. Gotta love days that start like that.

I keep hoping things will get better but I'm still relying on Zofran to help. I probably can manage 1 day without it but then the next day I'm feeling worse.

I tend to have a craving for something, eat it and then feel sick. So I won't want to eat it again. I'm struggling to find things to eat.

I'm so sick of myself! I hate what a whinger I've become. I'm pretty sure people see me coming and run away. I've taken to just telling people i feel great because I hate telling them how bad I feel.

I have only thrown up 3 times. My ms started about 6w+3 with feeling like I was going to be sick because I was so hungry. Then at 7w+1 the constant nausea started and has been pretty consistant each day. I am fine for an hour in the mornings then it starts and gets worse until I go to bed. I feel nauseous if I wake up at night. This morning 8w+2 I felt nauseous but by about 9.30am it tappered off and now am back to the feeling sick because I am so hungry feeling. I am not too sure whats going on and am a bit freaked out about it. I had a scan on Monday and all was good, so am praying its just a different day for me. Does your ms vary at all? I thought once you got it, it was the same until it stopped.

My "morning" sickness varies - sometimes it's a lot worse than others. It also depends on how much I've eaten and what I've eaten, how tired I am, what smells I can smell etc.

Struggling to find things to eat here too. Seems I have to REALLY want something to even think about eating it. It means I've been eating lots of junk food - I figure it's okay if it doesn't last forever?? Favourites for this week have been pancakes, froot loops, potato bake and stuffed potato!

Yum...the baked potato does sound really good. Delish!

I too am struggling a bit this afternoon. Its good to see that it does vary and that I should appreciate when it is behaving itself. I too think it depends on what I eat and if I am over heated as its been quite hot here lately. And the motion of being in the car is not good either.

and now I will die in shame. If it comes back up I've got noone to blame but myself!

Ohhhh no, this is me all over
In fact, all of it is me

I haven't sat in my lounge room for 2 weeks because we got a new leather couch and the smell makes me instantly want to vomit. It's the WORST smell out of everything I have had to smell, even cigarettes! I feel sick on my way home knowing I will smell it when i walk in the door. It sucks

Tasha, I must admit I had a little giggle. Not at you, but that sad fact that something new and shiny which bought you joy now had you cringing at the idea of going home. You poor thing, that really sux. Can you treat it with an oil that you do like the smell of??

Thanks ladybirdflies, I have put a chair in the dining room and turned the TV a bit so I can still watch it LOL. I did buy leather wipes that smell like aloe vera, but haven't used them yet cos I can't even go into the lounge room at the moment. Maybe I will get DH to do it.....but then again, I will probaby hate that smell too

This sucks!! I don't know how people go back for another baby after the first. I spent an hour going back and forth to the loo dry heaving last night before bed. DP ended up just getting me a bucket to put next to the bed. Then this morning after a piece of toast I spent half an hour dry heaving again but can't get anything up!! I just end up with a head ache
Now I'm just sitting in bed eating/probably wasting premium crackers and ginger ale. I'm only 6+0! I have a whole new respect for anyone with more than one child. I can't imagine being a mum and dealing with this feeling
Can't wait til this crap first bit is over...

Preggoeggo, I feel your pain Mine started at 6 weeks also. Last night I ate half a potato cake and then just sat there and sobbed cos i felt so sick. I haven't had anything positive to say in 4 weeks. I know it's what you get at the end that matters, but this is just plain cruel.
For what it's worth my ms was AWFUL until 8 weeks, then it tapered off slightly. But now it's the same, the only difference is I have a good day every few days and I really try to savour those days.

This is me! It started at 6-7 and now I'm over 11 and I seem to have a mini run of awful days broken by a couple of good days. I don't know how to categorize today as I have only vomited once but felt like **** all day! Not a day goes by where I don't feel queasy at some point, and I gave up rushing to the loo weeks ago. Now I have my very own designated bucket - so glamorous! I was sick until I gave birth with DD so I don't have high hopes but I do remember being able to function a whole lot better (I was working outside the home) so I'm hoping that it at least becomes more manageable.

Gah! I truly am sick of feeling so crappy!!

Oh sorry, that's not what I meant! I think it's super unlikely!!

Likely for me because that was what I had last time, but for most people not likely at all!!

Oh gosh this for the whole pregnancy?! Please no lol oh that would be terrible maybe!
My mum said she had ms from about 6wks until 20wks and nausea right to the end. The only thing getting me through is the belief that it will pass before the second trimester (please!).
DP has picked up the foods I think I can stomach because I feel like eating on his was home from work. Apples, cherries, rock melon and potato gems. Have you guys tried the preggie pops? There is mixed reviews on them.
