    Spas and Hydrotherapy Pools

I know that in pregnancy you are not mean't to go into spas - something about the heat of the water and the jets, but what about Hydrotherapy pools? I take my dd to swimming lessons and as she is still young have to hop in with her. I noticed today it was very warm and wanted to know if anyone knows if it is ok??

I think that would be ok, as it would be similar to hopping into a warm bath wouldnt it?

Thats what I would have thought too but wasn't 100% sure. Never had this situation arise with my dd.

    Thanks Ambah!

The hospital I'm using offers aquaerobics classes specifically for pregnant women and their hydrotherapy pool is really warm - so I'm sure it must be fine, otherwise they wouldn't offer them there! (Having said that I found it too warm to be comfortable and have decided to just keep doing my own lap swimming at the ordinary pool, which is cooler O )

I asked my doc about this and she said it's fine as long as it's not hot enough to raise your body temp. In other words if you feel normal when you get out it's ok, but if you're red and feel weak then it's too hot. The other minor concern was with bacteria in public spas and pools, but most medical professionals now agree that nothing can "get up there" anyway so it's fine.

whoop whoop or not, not sure yet!!!

When I had my first our hospital had a therapy pool in which they conducted water aerobics - it wasn't super warm though but I remember you weren't allowed to participate until 16 weeks - Sorry but I can't fully remember why but I thought it had something to do with bacteria and infection prior to then.
