hun as long as they rise there is hope.
are you having a second blood test?
its not the numbers exactly though they do look good, its how they rise every 48-72 hours :D

no futher blood test has been mentioned just the 2nd scan on the 22nd to make sure both are growing so the only blood test i had gave me 9880 at 5 1/2 weeks
i would of thought a second blood test would of been done.
i would maybe get one done by the gp anyway
Betabase has a list of hcg levels in twin pregnancies. It says that the average at 25DPO is 9068.
Not sure why your dr would have said it is unlikely for both to survive. Especially if they think they are fraternal. I thought the issues with twins were mainly when they shared a placenta?
my drs just an old grumpy man who doesnt believe i should be having more kids at my age lol
Hi
I thought I would pop back in and let you know my results...
Both these results are 16dpo
1st pregnancy - HCG 305 progesterone 80 - 1 baby DD
2nd pregnancy - HCG 351 progesterone 95 - Twins due May 2011
Just goes to show that HCG numbers are really hard to give you an indication if you are having 1 or 2 babies.
My hcg levels at 5wks 4 days was 9880 and that's with twins apparently the levels aren't the best indicator of how many bubs your having

Thanks ladies, I have my 12 week scan in a week and a half (26th) so will find out then what is happening inside :) I have been feeling so different with this pg and almost fainted the other day (never happened before). My dr and his nurse just looked at the numbers and gave a really big grin but refused to say anymore (the rats lol) said they didn't want to jinx me :0
Kelly and Mrs S a huge congratulations on the twins.
Well had the scan and yep there is only 1 froggie in there but a big one. Instead of measuring 12w4d, froggie was measuring 13w1d. I know it is only a matter of days but I tend to have bigger bubs anyway and I'm hoping that it will not put out the NT results. GGGrrrrrrrrr the drs tend to use the scan dates instead of my dates and I know exactly when it happened and I could not possibly be 4 days ahead lol.
Hello
I've just gotten off the phone with the nurse at my doctor's surgery. Had my HCG checked yesterday at 4 weeks (exactly) and it was 73.
The nurse said that this was on the low end and was a bit concerned that it was too low. Now they have me all worried! I have a history of recurrent miscarriage but have also had 2 healthy kids in between. I know with my DS the levels were about 4 times that at the same gestation but i know that every pregnancy is different and i shouldn't really compare! I have checked BetaBase and those levels seem fine but i guess it was just the negativity of the nurse that has me questioning it. I will be having another blood test on Tuesday.
Now, my dates could possibly be out by a few days as for the last few months i had a 25 day cycle instead of my regular 28 day cycle. I used the BellyBelly due date calculator which asks your cycle length, ovulation day etc.. and my due date came up as 4th August, however when my GP worked it out she said my due date was 8th August, but she was only going by the date of my LMP (31st October). I *think* i ovulated on 11th or 12th November.
So... reassure me please!!!
at 4 weeks with my DD my HCG levels were 24 and she is a happy little 3 yr old now!
good luck hun~!
gosh doctors annoy me! That is perfectly fine!! Mine at 3.5 weeks was 29. The doctor told me that a HCG reading of more than 2 means you're pregnant and then straight after said mine was 29 so i MAY be pregnant... :wall:
52 at 4w2d, successful pregnancy.
Tell your doctor he needs to do some revision :D
Oh congrats sweets!!!! What wonderful news!
I'm sure they are completely fine hun!
You are a wonderful mummy. Your little one is truly blessed. xx
at 4 weeks mine was 66 and kept climbing from there.
my ivf nurse said anyhting over 50 was good.
gl :)
The important thing is that it climbs at the right rate from here.
It's not the single number, it's the doubling time that matters.
Congratulations
It's fine, but let's see what the next one is, OK?
We're all here to se you through this. I know it's a nervous time
Thanks everyone..
I had my levels checked again
4 weeks: 73
4 weeks 5 days: 315
Betabase said it took 56 hours to double... is this ok? Arrrgghhh, i hate this!
I'm sure the guideline is every 2 - 3 days. So based on that, you're doing great!
Thankyou Rowellen and Maruschke :)
I would've been happier if they were doubling faster. I guess i am comparing the levels from my pregnancy with DS which were much higher and doubling at a faster rate. I can't help but worry after 4 m/c's. I am seeing an OB/GYN tomorrow so i'll see what he says. I would love to hear some more sucess stories about lowish/slower rising hcg levels.
Thanks x
That sounds good Stoked. They look for doubling every 2-3 days
Sounds good to me Stoked :) My levels at 5wks 1d from LMP (4wks 2d corrected as my dates were 6 days out as I O'd later than normal) were only 29, at approx 6wks corrected they were approx 711 and at approx 8-9wks they were around the 15000 mark, so your's look pretty good to me :)
I also had natural 3 m/c's and a d&c before having my DS and 2 m/c's before this pregnancy, so I know how you feel *hugs*
Wishing you a happy & healthy pregnancy darl :)
My hcg with my DS were low and slow and his pregnancy was fine :) My numbers were much "better" (higher and better growth) with my last pregnancy and it didn't turn out so well :( That said, your numbers look good to me. Sending you lots of sticky vibes
Thankyou ControlFreak and JennaJayen :)
You both just gave me some hope! It is very hard to try to stay positive.. I wish i could just enjoy it while it lasts, i try, but it is so hard!
Thankyou once again xx
My first doubling rate was 54. And this pregnancy definitely lasted!
Yay!
Phew! Thanks Audax! x
Just thought i'd update...
I started spotting (pink and only when wiping) on Saturday just gone. Then by the arvo i had really bad AF cramping as well. On Sunday, i had a terrible headache but the spotting had eased off a bit and the pain had subsided too. By Sunday night spotting had almost completely stopped.
Monday morning spotting was at it's heaviest and had turned to brown but still only there when i wiped. Today It is nearly gone completely.
I went to the Dr on Monday and had my HCG levels checked again and they were
1660 (5w 4d)... so they are increasing every 60 hours. I am happy with that. I was convinced that i had lost the baby on Saturday arvo when i had the bad cramping. Still not confident but i have a u/s on Thursday which will hopefully shed some light.
xx
Stoked, Im glad to hear the spotting has almost gone. Bleeding in pg is scary, but it must have been reassuring to see that your HCG levels are increasing today.
Hoping your u/s on Thursday goes well, and shows a healthy little bean.
Hi Stoked!
I started reading your post and nearly had a heart attack!
I'm glad the spotting has almost gone though.
I had a lot os spotting early on too, and a few bright red bleeds. My last one was at 13wks, and started after I had spent the day at the Melbourne Show walking around without much rest - I was put on semi-permanent couch rest and haven't had any more spotting since.
I really really hope everything went well with your scan on Thursday! Apparently spotting is very common early in pregnancy, and while brown spotting is usually considered safer than pink or bright red spotting (due to it being old blood) always get it checked out.
I'm thinking of you darl!
Hi jennajayen!
I had another scare yesterday too! I had a bright red bleed (just when wiping) in the morning then in the arvo I had it again with some cramping. I had an internal u/s too so I think this may have aggravated something and caused the bleed. I have had no bleeding at all today and pretty much no spotting either! I also got my hcg results back from yesterday and they were 4860 up from 1660 two days ago! The u/s discovered that I'm definately not 6 weeks.. Only about 5, but the pregnancy looks all normal for that gestation. So while I am definately not out of the woods yet I am feeling a little more confident with such a good hcg jump.
Thankyou, and you're right.. It is so scary! I'm trying to take it easy and lot do any heavy lifting too.
Xx
I just spoke to the midwife, and my hcg levels for last Friday were only 1030.
I have had more today and am now anxiously awaiting the results
she said maybe I ovulated later coz they are only about 5weeks 2 days, not 5 weeks 5 days like they should have been.....
What should they be today?
That number sounds fine.. It's the doubling time that's important. Although, in saying that, mine were taking 56-60 hours to double at first but then the last lot took only 30 hours to double! So I was stressing about lowish levels then slowish doubling times and then got a surprise of a big jump! Please don't worry too much. I know how hard it is though *hugs*
Xxxx
Yeah, not the number but ifthey are going steadily up. Mine were insanely high, and the doctor told me was likely a molar pregnancy. Clearly was not, so either way we are made to worry lol. I'm sure everything is fine, sounds good to me.
well the results are in...... they are now 2600
So Friday 1030
Monday. 2600.... Still not really doubling is it?
That sounds good. Supposed to double approx every two days, so 1030 on Friday, so maybe about 2060 on Sunday...so 540 in one day for Monday... Sounds okay to me!
Thanks PZ totally paranoid as you can imagine :)
Sounds good M2R!
Sorry, pressed send too quickly!
As long as it doubles every 48-72 hours it's all good.. And once it's over a certain number (um, 1200 I think?) it takes 72-96 hours to double :)
