    worried sick-literally!!

Aaarrgghh! Feeling really off colour today-don't know if it's hormonal or worry!
Had blood taken today (mon) for hcg level-should get the results in a couple of hours when I see my GP. have got butterflies ++.
My hcg increased from 15,000 on Wed, to 22,000 on Fri-not doubling-so GP apprehensive. Not had a good weekend with so many 'wot if's'!(bled on Monday,USS wed showed yolk sac-approx 5w 3d-next USS wed this week)
Anybody else had similar hcg changes and everything worked out ok...or should I just be prepared for the worst? (no more bleeding since last Mon) [-o<

After you HCG gets to '6000' - if can take up to 96hrs or more to double -

For HCG levels <1200 mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is 48-72 hours.
    * For HCG levels 1200 to 6000 mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is 72-96 hours.
    * For HCG levels >6000 mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is >96 hours.
It can be avery stressful time and your GP should know this.

Your HCG levels look great to me - hope the bleeding stays away

    thank you everyone.
Well, hcg today is 39,000. 72 hrs after last one of 22,000.
GP still not happy, and being fairly negative
Asked whether levels take longer to increase as they get higher, and she is adament they dont. Says should be doubling every 48hrs
Just have to wait 'til Wed for USS I guess, and hope it's ok. She also said as i'm so early, USS this week probably wont help-unless shows a real change, either good or bad(!), and will need rpt next week too
    Came away feeling pretty negative!
    Just keep hoping! [-o<

Everyone and every pregnancy is different, were not all designed and programmed to be text book cases, how many women out there have gone to have normal pregnancy's when implantation was at a later date than what is considered normal, and then again who's to say that with HCG levels, if thery're increasing and yours are increasing and is close to double!!!!
My girlfriend was 2 weeks late and still did not get a positive hpt, they did a blood test and she was pregnant, the HCG level was low, but when they did the ultrasound everything was fine and had a beautiful baby boy!!!!
Just goes to show that we are all different and it doesn't always mean it's bad when it's not a text book scenario. Keep positive, sending you lots of hugs and kisses.

P.s due to pregnancy hormonal imbalance i get p#### of at Dr's who send out negative vibes to people who are already in emotional turmoil. She could state the facts but also say that all might be ok.
    :hugs:

I agree with Mardella. Every women is different hun.Don't let your doctor make you feel bad.......get a second opinion. If it were me I'd tell that doc where to go and find another doc that at least is a little more positive then your last one and one that doesn't think your not 'normal' cause your hcg levels aren't doubling exactly every 48 hours! Phheeeffff to them!

    :

    thank you soooooo much!
Had a good long chat with DH last night, and both agreed, just gotta wait and see! Made a pact to try and not to think about numbers!! (That said I did wake up at 3am panicing about blighted ovums!!)
USS tomorrow morning. Not having hcg done before-going to see what the USS and what the radiologist says (done by Dr rather than technician where I go). Going to avoid hcgs if I can, unless it really is bad news on USS-numbers are just causing too much stress! Feel like waiting for numbers to come up on the lottery!!
Trying to be positive today.....but not getting hopes up too much!!

(she kept asking too 'do you feel pregnant?' Iv'e never been pregnant before-how do I know which are pregnancy symptoms, and what are 'anxiety' related??!!!!) ](*,)

    Goodluck for your scan Milly

Your DR is behind the times - tell them to google HCG levels in pregnancy and many reputable sites will agree - they don't double in 48hrs the further along you go. If so the levels would go through the roof

She is worrying you unnecesarily :fuming: . Stress is not good !

Caution must be used in making too much of HCG "numbers". Ultrasound findings after 5-6 weeks of pregnancy are much more predictive of pregnancy outcome than are HCG levels.
As you get further along into pregnancy and the hCG level gets higher, the time it takes to double can increase to about every 96 hours.
I didn't feel any symptoms till about 7weeks and I am pregnant with twins - m/s can start anytime (or not) - depends on your body.

Well, abdo uss today showed a heart beat!!! Yey!!!! Doc who did the USS happy with hcgs, even though weren't doubling-and agreed not to do any more of those
Thinks I'm 6w as opposed to 6w 3d, but very reassuring++ which is what we needed!
Couldn't believe it after a week of worrying-we (me and DH) both blubbed when she told us there is a heartbeat!!
She has suggested rpt USS In 2w as reassurance as we chatted about how woried/stressed we've been. Now just trying to relax, which may be easier said than done!
Thank you for all support everybody \/ :smt038
