LOL Mousey - ya goon! Definitely glad someone else has a thing for weetbix though! LOL
Mmmmm half melted Kahluha biccies. But the Tia Maria tim tams are best straight from the fridge, like all tim tams except the ones with chewy caramel. they are best warm but not melted.
LOL. I'm so particular these days! :D
Sorry to butt in.
But for all you choccie bikkie cravers, Arnotts now sells a chocolate selection like their assorted creams but with tim tams, mint slice, gaiety, caramel crowns & choc teddy bears.
Yummo Yummo Yummo
Nikki
That's horrible Nikki!
Right after I'd spent the last of this fortnight's money too! Guess what I have to do tomorrow when I get up? LOL
LOL I knew that Arnott's had done that, and can you believe I went hunting for these a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find any at the supermarket!!!! What sort of a supermarket WOULDN'T stock those I ask you?!?!?! GRRRR
Back to the weetbix and peppermint chocolate LOL!!!!!!!
Well after reading all these posts I decided it is a good idea to make some choc chip biscuits..... my recipe includes peanut butter. Dont know how that will go... :)
anyway i thankfully havent wanted to eat let alone have cravings. I have been baking much more than before (Which was never) and i am quite enjoying it actually!!
Yesterday I went to a friends bday bbq and his Mum cooked a Silverside. I ate probably half of it as it was what i felt like!!
Hope your all doing well.
Love Pee \:D/
Yep Pee, IKWYM....my appetite has really only starting returning a bit. In fact it's probably only been in the last week or so that I have started to regain it. Until then I really couldn't eat much at all as I still had the m/s to contend with. Even now, only a week or so after it has subsided, every couple of days I wake up feeling really nauseous, but thankfully it passes and doesn't linger all day as it did from weeks 7 - 15! I still find that I can't eat as much as what I could pre-pregnancy. I sit down at dinner time and can only eat half of what I put on my plate most of the time and can't believe that I ever ate that much previously IYKWIM!
I really want vanilla choc chip ice cream now. I think it's a biscuit making topic related thing.
I found I was eating non stop whenever I wasn't nauseous (only thing that prevented my m/s from kicking in) and it didn't came down until mid 2nd trimeseter.
Throughout my first pregnancy all I wanted was corn on the cob and tomatos! Now with this one I haven't had many yet-- ( onnly 10 weeks along) but in the beginning all I could handle eating were Twix...LOL
Hello all
After reading your cravings, I am feeling very left out that I haven't had any.
Maybe later in the pregnancy they will arrive
Carmen
I've been craving cottage cheese. At before I go home from work I get one of those little tubs of cottage cheese from the supermarket and eat it. And I have toast with as much cottage cheese as I can pile on it for breakfast (or sultana bran). O:)
yummm
i love love cottage cheese
shopping thursday so might have to buy some yumm
Lesley
Hmmm....I've had a few different ones:
* anything orange (orange juice, orange cordial, orange icy poles, jaffas etc)
* peppermint chocolate (damn you Jen, I think you started that LOL)
* weetbix
* soft serve icecream (yep, all I wanted right from the very beginning and STILL want is a Maccas chocolate sundae with extra topping LOL and a Wendy's chocolate thickshake, but I've refrained for obvious reasons)
* Dagwood dogs with sauce (again I've refrained...JUST!)
That's all I can think of for now LOL!!
carmen,
I was the same in my first pregnancy, I started eating some things I normally wouldn't but not all the time, more like one-offs. This is going to sound grose but here goes! I wanted sui-min (only!) instant noodles but when I cooked it didn't want the noodles so just drank the water. I put icing sugar in a cup and ate it 8-[ and later on in the pregnancy it was more constant cravings like banana paddlepops which progressed to rainbow then chocolate before back to banana and things like that.
Early on with morning sickness in pregnancy it's hard to know what you want, but they do say, you body craves what it needs when preggers - so maybe you have a great balance of vitamins and minerals ;) Not a bad thing at all!
Hey Toots, why have you refrained from Dagwood Dogs, is it the listeria thing? The company I work for sells frozen ones, maybe if it is listeria that's the problem you could contact a local food distributor & buy a box of frozen ones so you can cook them properly at home.......
Oh oh oh! I've thought of another one - yoghurt! Get this, because I get hungry between 5 - 7 am of a morning (aarrggh) I need to get up and eat something and the only thing that alleviates the hunger and allows me to get back to sleep is yoghurt! I started to crave it initially but then during my early morning raids on the fridge discovered that this was the best possible thing for me to eat, so that's my routine now LOL!
Sarah - re the dagwood dogs. The reason I haven't eaten them is because you can't get them at many places down here, but you can usually get them at the Salamanca Markets held down here on a Saturday, but I'm not sure as I would trust them, i.e. I don't know how long they would have been sitting there for, so yeah, I'd be worried about listeria. I was also wondering exactly what kind of meat it is that is in them LOL?!?! OMG I'm salivating just thinking about them though!!! Ooooohhhh dagwood dog with big slurps of tomato sauce!! TO DIE FOR! I hadn't thought of buying them frozen and am unsure where I could get them from down here?!?
I think they have both beef & pork in them, but will find out for you tomorrow when I'm at work.
OK, my mission for tomorrow is to check with our supplier if (and where) you can buy them in Tassie!! Afterall, we can't have your little tiger going without something he REALLY wants can we?!
You're a legend Sarah!! Thank you so much!!!
Ok, the only thing I have really craved is strawberry milk. Some days I want it so bad I can actually smell it! And I am not kidding! What I really really would like is a strawberry shake from Maccas but I haven't had one :( . I just get the normal strawberry milk from the deli instead. I bought a huge tin of strawberry nesquik thinking that I had a cheaper solution to this craving but it doesn't even taste strawberry! It only tastes sweet. Grrrrr. Oh, and did anyone else get those cadburys strawberries and dream eggs at easter time? They were really really good too, tasted just like a strawberry milkshake! Oh no. I've done it now. Too much mention of this and now I want some. Why does this always happen in the middle of the night?
LOL it's always the way isn't it Marcia! And I was just about to say that you're up mighty late again LOL!!
Toots, I have PM'd you all the details - that is unless someone else wants me to post them on here...
Thank you very much sweet chops!
I'd been wanting to try those eggs since easter last year, but refused to pay $6 for a 120gm pack of eggs. I saw them today at Coles for $1.59 because it is after easter (best time to get cheap chocolate cos chocolate takes years to go off). I tried some out already, and they are sooo good. They aren't excessively rich like most of the dream range.
I had a craving for strawberry flavoured things a while back. Stemmed from me not being able to get Strawberry Ripes anymore. But my cravings change every day. It's usually grapes, chocolate something, or yogurt, which I can't have too much of, because dairy food in any portion more than a tiny amount makes me feel nauseous, as I remembered today after eating 500g of yogurt for lunch. Ooops!
I've got a bit of a lactose intolerance so I need to be careful about dairy too - I always have to have the 'light' versions of things (particularly milk and cheese) or it can make me pretty sick! The only 'full strength' stuff I can eat is yoghurt, but pre-pregnancy on the rare occasion I would have yoghurt I would always have the light stuff....seems my stomach can tolerate full strength yoghurt ATM!
I'm the opposite... usually any dairy product makes me feel yuck, so I don't drink milk or eat full cream cheese etc... or eat yogurt, but throughout PG I have been eating yogurt by the litre! Strange!
Christy
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I craved Promite. Hate the stuff normally, but when I was pregnant, I had to have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner !! lol.
I also craved sour cream and chives chips and gherkins !!! lol
It's amazing what the body needs !
Rebecca
Apparantly my body needs fruit tingles #-o . I've been eating a packet a day, thank god they're only small packets or I'd be moby ****.
LOL the fruit tingles!! I've been craving lately chocolate... I don't usually eat chocolate because I don't really like it (shock horror, I know...) but I love it at the moment...
Christy
I am at that horrible sick stage where I want something but I have no idea what it is...I have about 5 different boxes of cereal at the moment, I start eating one and am then sick and can't face it again!
Can anyone fill me in on what the old wives tales are re cravings and the sex of the baby? It would be interesting to see how many people this has been true for!
Someone told me savory for boys and sweets for girls... but I've had alternate cravings, one month sweet and the other savory... who knows?
Christy
Hi Beth!
I'm pretty sure they are definietly old wives tales as yesterday at the service station I bought:
1 apple and cinnamon fruit bar
1 chocolate bar, and
2 packets of chips...
and ate them ALL in the space of about 15mins and they all satisfied my cravings!!!
Ohhh I wish DH was home to take me to the shop now that I am talking about it! (I am in this stage where I hate going out by myself, did/does anyone else feel like that during their pregnancy?).
One thing that I REALLY enjoying eating is apple puree. YUM!
Jess
Hi Everyone,
I'm only new here but I read the craving stories and remember that with Mia, my 3yo daughter, I craved avocado and salt & vinegar chip sandwiches, and McDonald's fries dipped in Chocolate thickshake!!! YUM YUM!!! I still love the thought of them. It grosses my fiance out bigtime...........
I've heard the same as Christy: sweet things for girls, savoury/meat and veg for boys LOL. I seem to crave more sweet things than anything else, so that doesn't match up considering we've been told we're having a boy!
Nope, definately wives tales because all I wanted to eat was savoury stuff, like sour cream and chives, savoury dips etc...and I had a girl!!
Rebecca
Hope I don't end up craving peppermint freddos - the peppermint chocs are the ones I always leave in the Roses box YUK
At what stage do most people's cravings start??
I'm just over 12 weeks and haven't had any cravings really, although I really enjoy some foods that I would normally not eat a lot of - chips, cheezels, sausage rolls. Did go thru a week or so where I ate avocado every day, didn't crave it, but just really enjoyed having it.
Am starting to wonder what this bub is doing in there as I haven't even had the emotional rollercoaster ride start yet - have been unmotivated but no tears or tantrums YET
Maybe saving it all up for 2nd trimester!!
Or maybe saving it all up for when it comes out!!!
Loved reading your cravings anyway
Sharon
Hi
Not sure when cravings start. But the other week i wanted crisps and i do not always have them in the house.
With Kimberley i loved having sweet and sour chicken with rice or curry did not go of spicey food at all.
I'm not 100% sure that I have had "cravings" but over the long weekend, I did have a fancy for hot buttered white toast with vegemite. I ate half the loaf!!
I noticed on one thread (somewhere on this enormous site!) that someone commented about eating sausage rolls for morning sickness. I did this, but all that happened was a bit of heartburn and they kept reapeating on me. And I still felt sick.
I am not a sweet tooth normally (I am allergic to chocolate!) and I think it will be a real fight in the household between myself and DH if i become one. He is such a sweet tooth - a lolly doesn't make it through our door! Mind you, we had a bit of a "discussion" about him eating each and every bit of treats that came through the door after shopping. I told him that I had bought some of them because I feel sick and need them whilst pg...and I don't appreciate him scoffing the lot just because he is a bit peckish!!! [-X
Hello
I am finding that I am eating chocolate now whereas prior to being pregnant, I couldn't stand the taste.
I am not getting cravings but if I am offered it then I will eat it.
I also have developed an aversion to lettuce in sandwiches it tastes really limp and horrible and I have to pull the lettuce out.
Carmen
I had my first craving today, I just had to have skittles :)
Other than that, for lunch today I had a mashed banana and peanut butter sandwich - I had wanted the banana sandwich but saw the peanut butter when I got the bread from the cupboard so I wanted it too! Aaron was disgusted.
Hi all,
I'm a Newbie here and I'm not sure anyone will even read this, but I am almost 20 weeks and I have been craving. I LOVE strawberry milk (even tho it makes me feel a lil queasy afterwards), chocolate, ham sandwiches (which I usually HATE) and other bits and pieces. I once woke up at 5am CRAVING Iced Chocolates and egg and bacon rolls, needless to say I woke the hubby up and he took me to a 24hr cafe where I filled both cravings in one hit and felt so full he almost had to roll me home! I had a HUGE craving for donuts at one stage, once again hubby got me them as I was sick in bed with a migraine. I craved sarah lee bannana cake for weeks and weeks, and then one day drove past a factory outlet and filled that craving....
I don't usually eat much, I get full pretty quick. Even quicker now I have someone pushing my tummy up, and most of the time I don't even know what I want to eat, but when I find something that I crave, I can eat it till I make myself sick which is so unlike me! Is anyone else like this?
The other funny thing is that I eat, am full, then an hr later am STARVING again to the point that I want to throw up because my tummy is empty again. Do u think this is because my body is making up for the fact that I hardly ate before I fell preg? Also I am not putting on much weight, I have very little energy (but then again my job involves heavy lifting and a lot of walking....I'm an assistant in nursing). It seems I'm losing weight in the face, but staying stable which means what I am losing, bub is gaining....maybe bub is getting all the nutrients?
Oh god.....now I'm sounding paranoid! Well I go for my ultra sound TMW and the anti natal next week. I guess I'll find out then!
