I used to be a massive drinker. Blind drunk every weekend. (yep. Classy ) I stopped a few months before conceiving DS and haven't touched any kind of alcohol since.
So no, not while pregnant and not while breastfeeding.
With DS, none whatsoever
With DD, I craved beer! Hard to walk away from one bought for you! But at my cousins wedding in November, I had 1 shandy glass - tiny bit of beer and the rest lemonade. My boss also bought me one in Sept (when the craving was really strong) and I had a quarter of the bottle - but that's all I drank because my cravings were fulfilled

None with any of my pregnancies.

Dianne
I craved baileys during my recent pregnancy too! However, since he was born the craving went away and i still haven't had a drink. i don't drink during pregnancy, and don't think i have even haf a full drink since i was first pregnant with my DD. i don't have a problem with drinking while breastfeeding, i just haven't felt like it. i thought that i would have a drink (baileys!) during my recent labour but forgot all about it at the time.
I never drank when TTC or in my first trimester with any of my pregnancies (apart from a half glass of bubbly on NYE when I was about 8 weeks pregnant with DS1). However in 2nd and 3rd trimester I indulged, no more than 1 unit a night and 2 nights a week. And not every week. But I did enjoy wine and I don't believe a small amount would hurt my babies.
Yep I've had prob 4 or 5 glasses of low alcohol wine since I got pregnant with my ob's permission. I had one glass of rose when pregnant with Anais but never anything else. Amazing how much more relaxed I am this time around with what I eat/drink, prob too blasé! I'm not a big drinker normally and didn't drink much at all while breastfeeding.
Nope - can't stand the taste at the mo, same with caffeine (which I miss more!).
Only a taste every now and then with this pg (& I mean a sip or two of a special wine DH has opened- maybe half a dozen times) and when pg with DS it was only toasting sparkling wine as we had a few weddings to go to while I was pg.

Because it took me years and years to conceive, and at my age, i knew i would be having my one and only, i could not bring myself to take the risk, no matter how small. So i would say "no". But then i remember, one time i was invited over to a friend's house for a formal dinner, her relatives were there from overseas, i was talking with them, everything was going so smooth, she had gone to so much effort, and we were enjoying the night, and THEN i suddenly realised I HAD JUST DRUNK HALF A GLASS OF WHITE WINE! I was in the early stages, and for that brief amount of time, FORGOT i was pregnant, and was acting like i would normally. i was mortified and stopped immediately the second it dawned on me. So "no", with one slip up.
Yes, I drank with both of my pregnancies. Not to excess though, usually only 1 drink with dinner or something when I felt like it every few weeks.
I had a few glasses of wine in my first few weeks before I knew I was pregnant. As soon as I got a bfp I had nothing, and 7 months breastfeeding I've still had nothing.
Excuse my sucky spelling, I'm on my iPhone
Some interesting literature is starting to emerge. It is no longer true that we have no studies discussing the effect of minimal drinking on the fetus and on children born to women who drank during pregnancy.
Here is just one such study with some peer reviewed references.
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Nope no alcohol here, but then again I wasn't tempted either cos the smell made me dry retch.
I did often have a glass of wine with dinner when bf tho, mainly had ebm for if DS needed it at those times.

Thanks for that, interesting literature :) I had read some of it before but that's a good summary.
This was very interesting:
It was told to my SIL when she heavily drank in the early stages of her pregnancy (she was unaware she was pregnant). The Drug and Alcohol abuse centre almost laughed at her (not in a horrible way) when she said she had concerns. So I found that quite interesting. I think our perception may have gone from careless to over-cautious. BUT I also understand why being over-cautious is better for some people, so please don't think I am knocking anyone at all. It's just good to have some accurate information available. And please don't think that I'm saying that those that did have a drink or two weren't cautious enough.:
An analysis of seven major medical research studies involving over 130,000 pregnancies suggests that consuming two to 14 drinks per week does not increase the risk of giving birth to a child with either malformations or fetal alcohol syndrome.
Negative effects appear to be related to relatively higher levels of consumption per occasion, and hence, to higher blood alcohol content levels. Thus, it appears to be very important never to consume more than one drink in any one day while pregnant.
Hope I've made sense and not offended anyone :/
None the first time around. A couple here & there during my pregnancies with the other 3. Usually my choice was a half nip in a middy glass so it wasn't a strong drink. No premix drinks.
Never enough to feel the effects. Just for the flavour... or to destress once.
Thanks for posting the link to that study, is a good summary.
