I paid for my NT scan, and I think the blood test, honestly can't remember TBH. The NT shebang is optional, you do not have to have it.
As for free medical... just a random bit of la de da. I was talking to the lady who does my bikini wax (:p) a little while back who is from Brittain. Apparently they have free medical over there (free doctors, scripts are free, pill is completely free... can you imagine how many woman are on the pill and how much money that would cost?) and she says some parts of britain are so bad economy wise it's unreal. Entire towns are jobless. So, that's why Aus has no free medical ;)
