My dad's mum had her 8th child (my aunty) at age 45. So no I don't think it's old at all! Our age is just a number. If your body is healthy, then go for it! :)

My mom was 18 when she had me (her first)...married a 28 year old when she was 38. My mom was 39 when she had my sister (her second). There is a 20 year gap between me and my sister. My mom seems to do well caring for my sister. Financially she is way better off than when she had me at a young age. I say if you feel like you can do it-DO IT! And ignore anyone who thinks differently. Good for you for doing what you feel is right! Hugs.
I'm having my first at 38 and know that despite the fact that my body might not be as tip-top as it was in my twenties, mentally I'll be a much better mum because I've got much more life experience and am able to take things in my stride much more rather than the 20-something worry wart that I was.
So I don't think that nearly 40 is too old at all. Being anything less than 35ish would have been too young for me. But, we're all different!
