MamaDuke.. i have only read this thread now... but good on you for fighting for what you want...
Wishing you all the best for your birth.. I hope it is all you wished for :)
Mamaduke, You know I think you are in the best possible hands for this groundbreaking event on this side of Oz,
Please come back and share details as soon as you are well enough.
You go girl!
I would try and find a new Ob if it were me. That is just outrageous! This is your baby and you have every right to be able to pull him out. I mean how much halm can it do to grab bub under the arms and pull him onto your chest.....
I would be very upset aswell. I do hope you can sort this out and end up having your wish come true
(Also, your son will have the same birth date as me :) )
ETA: OK, I just saw that there was more then one page to this thread (LOL not sure where my head is today). I am so glad that you have sorted this out and that you will get to pull your little boy out. That is excellent news :D
oh i am so jealous! i would have dearly loved to have done this with all of my ceasers but i'm so glad that women are now being allowed to be active regardless of how they birth!!!
best wishes and i can't wait to hear more!
Jacob Louis has arrived!

Congratulations on getting the birth that you wanted!!! And even bigger congrats on the safe delivery of you litttle boy. Jacob is just gorgeous :)
Don't let him take ur power & rights away hun.As the other ladies have said ,find someone else, even if it means going public.I have had all my children through the public hospital & i've never had any probs apart from the occasional cranky nurse but u r going to get that anywhere.
I'm sure there is someone out there that will let u do this.Take back ur control & go to someone else who will support u in being part of YOUR childs birth.
Good luck!
Edited to add-sorry i didn't see there were more pages & that u did get what u wanted, silly me! I'm going to go & read ur story now......
Very inspirational, I'm so pleased everything went beautifully for you, congratulations and well done.
MummaDuke, what a fantastic story! I was unaware of this thread of yours and I actually posted a new thread today in the Caesarean Section Support forum about maternal-assisted caesareans. After my horror caesar under a general anaesthetic last year I got into contact with Paula Beckton and spoke to my Ob who has agreed to allow me have a maternal-assisted caesar if I need to have a CS with #2. YIPPEE! I am dearly hoping for a VBAc next time round but if I need to have a caesar than to me a maternal-assisted one is the next best thing!
I posted the new forum today because I wanted to share the option with everyone out there. Unfortunately I have had some mixed responses to my post though :( and I thought I was posting in the caesarean Section SUPPORT forum! Oh well.
It was lovely to read your story Mummaduke, and the photo's were fantastic!
I've just replied to your thread - I thought the 'horrid' response was completely uncalled for and should have been edited actually but you'll find that when mentioning this to a lot of people you'll get narrow minded responses, don't let that put you off...I didn't and I heard every reason why I shouldn't do this and witnessed every grimace that could be had!
I really do hope you succeed with your VBAC and it's something that with the luxury of hindsight I wished I'd pushed more for with my second child but you've got a back up plan and the positive support you'll receive from your family, friends and care providers is all that matters.
Good luck with everything!
